Chapter 7

Margaret and Helen looked at me with eyes full of sympathy.
I smiled at them, trying to reassure them, “It’s all over now.
In the file Aaron had given them, there was evidence that Xandra had contracted an STD while studying abroad due to her reckless behavior.
Now, Darren looked at Xandra with disgust.
The innocent flower he had once thought she was turned out to be a venomous carnivorous plant.
Not only that, but she had secretly sold Carter Enterprises‘ confidential business information to the competition.
Because of a woman like her, Darren had lost the rose, me, he’d nurtured since childhood.
Landon had kicked her out.
The two of them tried everything to get close to me, to apologize and make amends.
But because of the security measures of the Rhodes and Greene families, they were turned away.
However, we all underestimated Xandra’s malice.

Now, Xandra had nothing left. Forced into a corner by Landon and Darren, she was desperate.
She suddenly appeared outside my new home, pulling out a knife. After cutting her own hand, she came at us, waving it wildly.
“Why do you get to have all these good things? Why do you get to find someone who cares about you? Why does everyone love you no matter where you go? I hate people like you! You get everything handed to you without lifting a finger. My life is ruined! If you hadn’t kicked me out, I wouldn’t have gone abroad, met the wrong people, and gotten this illness! Now Landon and Darren are frantically exposing everything about me—my life is destroyed because of you!”
I looked at the crazed Xandra, a hint of coldness in my eyes.
“You were the one who came to me asking for money, claiming you were going abroad. Everything that’s happened was your own choice. Even Landon and Darren–those were your decisions too. Your downfall is entirely your own doing.”
But Xandra couldn’t hear me.
Her eyes were bloodshot as she lunged at me.
“My life is ruined, so yours won’t be any better! We’re all going to hell together!”
I gasped when I saw the knife covered in virus–infected blood.
Chapter 7
Before she could reach me, Zane kicked her away.
Zane never showed mercy to anyone who wanted to harm me.
The kick was full of force, and she landed on the ground like a dog, whining in pain.

When the police arrived, she realized it was over for her. She struggled helplessly as they arrested her, as if waking from a bad dream.
“Please, let me go. I shouldn’t have fought with you. I’ll give you everything back, I swear. I’ll never bother you again.”
I ignored her, hurriedly checking on Zane.
“You’re not hurt, are you?”
“I’m fine.”
Zane let out a sigh of relief, but when he looked at Xandra, his eyes were filled with cold disdain.
