Chapter 73
Alison returned to the Sawford residence, her expression dazed. She ignored the three people in the living room and quickly walked upstairs, head lowered.
Seeing her pass by without a word, Timothy hurriedly ran over and grabbed her wrist.
“Alison, what’s wrong? Did someone outside bully you?”
Seeing Timothy so attentive to her, Ethan, who had been reading the newspaper, couldn’t help
but frown.
Hearing Timothy’s voice, Alison felt irritated.
Suddenly, her gaze inadvertently swept over Ethan, who was still sitting on the couch, not at work. She immediately put on a smile again.
“Ethan, you’re not going to work today?”
At the sight of Alison’s puzzled expression, Ethan explained, “I came back to grab something. I’m heading back to the company soon. What’s going on with you?”
Under the concerned looks of the three of them, Alison suddenly had a more sinister thought.
It was all Estelle’s fault. She wiped away the nonexistent tears and shook her head gently.
“It’s nothing. I’m just a little down. Please let me be alone for a while.”
“No way!” Timothy immediately protested.
He tightly gripped Alison’s hand. “You’re our precious sister. Did someone harass you? I’ll go get revenge for you right now.”
Alison began to cry even harder.
“Don’t cry.”
Timothy saw her tears streaming down and felt a headache coming on.
He pressed his temple, clearly frustrated, and asked her, “Alison, just tell me what happened, please?”
Alison wiped away her tears and carefully observed their expressions.
“I went to see Dillon. I wanted him to stop holding a grudge about Estelle hiding her identity from him. But Dillon told me that Estelle spent a lot of money, and some of it might be from suspicious sources.”
“Identity?” Ethan, being as sharp as Dillon, immediately caught the important point. “What identity could Estelle have?”
Chapter 73
Timothy quickly explained to him, “What else could it be? That troublemaker didn’t even know who she was flirting with before. Now she’s become Alex!”
Bobby quickly reacted.
“When you told us about that on the phone, I thought you were joking. Could it be that Estelle is really Alex?”
Bobby’s eyes darted around as he began to think,
If Estelle were Alex, then she probably had many valuables.
This could be a perfect opportunity to acquire a gift for the higher–ups. Could he get something valuable for free from Estelle?
Alison had been watching the three of them, and she didn’t miss Bobby’s expression.
Seeing that he seemed to have already planned something, Alison’s face turned even paler.
She suddenly sighed.
“But the real problem is where that money came from. Estelle was still a student before becoming famous, and if her student status was revoked…”
“Student?” Bobby tapped his chin, thinking for a moment before adding, “She shouldn’t have had any money back then.”
Timothy snorted coldly. “That’s simple. She must have been with some rich older man, and all that money came from him!”
“Timothy!” Ethan called out coldly.
Timothy, still defiant, turned his face away.
Seeing this, Ethan sighed in resignation.
Ethan pinched the bridge of his nose and quietly warned them.
“The noise surrounding Estelle’s return is already attracting attention. A lot of people are watching us and laughing. Be careful not to run your mouth.”
Reluctantly, Timothy stood back.
Bobby turned to his eldest son.
“Ethan, you’re the oldest. What do you think we should do about Estelle?”
Thinking about how to handle Estelle was giving Ethan a headache.
And now, the key issue was where that money had come from. They had to figure it out!
Ethan immediately called his assistant to investigate.
