Chapter 75
At the neighboring villa, Marcus carried the food box upstairs to the study. He knocked politely before entering, waiting for permission.
He placed the food box on the desk and respectfully looked at the male master of the house.
“Mr. Waverly, this is a gift from Ms. Sawford.”
Dillon looked up from his papers. He opened the box and, seeing the familiar chocolate chip cookies inside, couldn’t help but take a bite.
It still tasted the same.
In the past, Estelle used to make these for him, often pestering him until he’d agreed to eat them. Later, when she realized he didn’t like sweet food, she would make snacks that weren’t as sweet. Chocolate chip cookies were one of her specialties.
Noticing the change in his demeanor, Marcus grew concerned and asked, “Mr. Waverly, do you not like them? Should I take them away now?”
After finishing his sentence, Marcus reached out for the cookies.
Dillon quickly gestured to stop him. “No, it’s fine. It’s not your concern. Go ahead and leave.”
Marcus looked at him in confusion.
It was just a box of chocolate chip cookies. If Dillon liked them, he could ask the chef to make
more.
Not wanting to linger and possibly anger Dillon, Marcus left the room.
Once alone, Dillon picked up another piece and tasted it again. He hadn’t thought much of these things before, but now, they had become a kind of longing he never realized he had.
Two days passed, and Timothy didn’t come to make things difficult for Estelle anymore. She was relieved and spent her free time returning to Rosewood Estates early to cook.
She wasn’t sure if it was because Marcus was too attentive, but it seemed that both houses were making a dish for each other every day. Sometimes, the food they sent over was actually quite delicious.
The Stellar Foundation had no urgent matters, and Estelle had a batch of new drafts to send, so she left the foundation early and went back to the villa to get some work done.
It wasn’t until the noise outside interrupted her train of thought that she reared it was already evening. The shouting downstairs was getting louder.
Vaguely, she thought she heard Bobby’s voice.
Chapter 75
“Young lady, I know you’re from the Lancaster family. Since we’ve known each other since childhood, I’ll give you a chance. If you hand over Estelle, I swear I won’t make things difficult for you in the future.”
“You’re being ridiculous!” Madison retorted angrily. “You’re the most heartless person in the Sawford family. If it weren’t for Estelle’s mother, would you even have what you have now? And now that you’ve forgotten Estelle, you’re only left with hatred, right?”
She had her hands on her hips, her cheeks puffed out, clearly furious.
The confrontation had been going on for a while, and even Ethan, who was usually the most calculating, seemed unable to bear it any longer.
Ethan, with a cold look, turned to Madison.
“Ms. Lancaster, we are here to find Estelle. This is an affair of the Sawford family. It’s best if you don’t get involved.”
Hearing him still mention Estelle, Madison rolled her eyes and scoffed.
“Oh, now you care that Estelle is part of the Sawford family? When you forced her to divorce Dillon five years ago, what did you say? Didn’t you cut ties with her then?”
“You…”
Madison shot a furious glare at Timothy.
“What’s with the attitude? Did I say something wrong?”
She then gave Timothy an exaggerated once–over, as if disgusted by him.
“You look like a gentleman, but you sure don’t act like it. You’re trespassing on Rosewood Estates now, with no respect or manners. This is ridiculous!”
She spat on the ground.
The four Sawford family members immediately stepped back.
Madison sneered again.
“Now you’re disgusted? I haven’t even said you were all insane. If you know what’s good for you, leave. I won’t let Estelle see you.”
“Madison!” Ethan’s expression shifted. His face darkened as he glared at her.
It was as if he were about to announce the complete collapse of the Lancaster family at any moment.
