Alison blinked innocently, completely unfazed by Dillon’s cold expression.
But he soon looked away.
“Don’t say things like that again,” he said flatly.
Alison froze for a second, her smile faltering.
She couldn’t help but glance at him again,
“Dillon,” she called softly.
Meeting her misty eyes, Dillon looked away for the first time.
“Aren’t you supposed to be dancing? I’ll leave you to it,” he said before walking off.
Alison clenched her fists, hurt and frustration boiling over.
“That bitch Estelle must have seduced Dillon!” she thought.
Timothy walked over and noticed her sour mood. “What happened? Weren’t you just talking to Dillon?”
Already irritated, Alison snapped without meaning to. “Can’t Dillon and I have a moment of privacy?”
Timothy’s expression soured too when he heard the edge in her voice. “If you’re mad, take it out on Dillon. What did I do to you? I don’t owe you anything.”
With that, he turned and stormed off.
Didn’t Timothy care about his reputation? Why did he yell at her in front of all these people?
She thought about it, but couldn’t care less about him right now.
She needed to find a way to break Dillon and Estelle apart for good.
Still, even after the ball began, Dillon made no move to approach her.
With people beginning to notice, Alison couldn stand it anymore. She strode right over to
him.
He was chatting with someone when she walked up, wearing her most graceful smile. “Dillon, it’s time for the opening dance. Will you dance the first one with me?”
Dillon instinctively wanted to say no.
But she tugged lightly at his sleeve and whispered, “Dillon, everyone’s watching. You’ve always danced the first one with me at the charity gala. If you suddenly refuse this year, people will think we’ve fallen out.”

As she spoke, a tear fell from the corner of her eye.
She scratched at an itch on her arm, exposing a healing wound.
When Dillon saw it, he hesitated, then agreed and held out his hand.
Alison’s eyes lit up, and she immediately reached out her hand.
She thought, “I knew it–he’s still on my side.”
When no one was watching, she cast a smug glance at Estelle, who was watching from the shadows.
Trying to play hard to get? Not a chance..
As the two danced elegantly together, Estelle couldn’t help but remember the very first time
she and Dillon had danced.
She had been five at that time.
She’d skipped her dance lesson because she didn’t like how strict the instructor was.
-It was Dillon who found her and then patiently showed her the steps himself.
Back then, he was soft and plump, holding her hand with the utmost seriousness.
“Elle, from now on, you have to dance every dance with me. You’re not allowed to dance with anyone else.”
She hadn’t understood why he was being so possessive and asked, “Not even my brother?”
“No!”
Dillon had been so fierce, like he was ready to fight Timothy over it.
But soon after, they received the news that Aurora had passed.
Then came the accident.
When she finally woke up, it was like everyone had changed.
“Estelle, who would’ve thought that bastard could actually dance? What a shame he’s wasting
it on some phony like her. It’s disgusting,” Madison muttered.
Estelle quickly looked away.
She glanced at Madison, curious but silent.
Madison blinked in confusion. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Then she turned serious, lowering her voice. “Be careful–there are a lot of guys here who are
into her. You don’t want to get swarmed.”
Madison froze, then started glancing around cautiously.
