Darmien’s agitation intensified as they stepped into the comidor. “Celeste, this is a hospital, not your personal playground! You can’t demand that you remove all those acupuncture needles from Grandpa immediately! You will be held responsible if anything untoward happens to him!”
in’t simply do as you please! I
He had always been aware of Celeste’s dabbling in medicine. However, he had never truly gauged the depth of her expertise. Despite dedicating herself tirelessly to their manage, she would occasionally make discreet house calls to treat patients whose families had found her through
private connections.
This aspect of her life had remained entirely secret, unlawn to everyone. Even Damien, her husband for years, had been oblivious to this,
“Damien is right,” Lucy Interjected, her tone laced with indignation “Even the leading traditional medicine practitioners and specialists wouldn’t dare perform acupuncture on M. Wrenford Senior without a thorough assessment and authorization. Ms. Morin, your audacity is astounding! I can’t believe you proceeded without any approval from the doctors. If anything goes wrong.”
“Nothing will go wrong as long as I’m here!” Celeste lifted her gaze and looked at Lucy across from her. Her voice resonated with a quiet confidence.
“How uttedly arrogant!” Damien’s face flushed crimson with fury. “But I have only one grandfather. I will not permit you to use him as a guinea pig to test your amateur skills!”
As the words left his lips, he took a step toward the ward.
However, Celeste swiftly raised her hand, effectively blocking his path. “Mr. Wrenford, did you not hear what I just said? I told you not to enter and disturb Alanc.” “Move aside!” His eyes blazed with fury, his voice rising in anger.
“You are free to do as you wish after half an hour, Celeste stated, her hand still raised, her tone unwavering and serious. “No one is permitted to enter that room during this crucial time!”
Damien and Lucy were both taken aback by her commanding presence, especially Damien. His ey
eyes were filled with disbelief.
In his memory, Celeste had always been the epitome of gentleness and soft–spokermess. He had never witnessed such a resolute side to her. Yet, how could he possibly must her with his grandfather’s well–being when he had no real understanding of her medical abilities?
“I am going in there!” Damien insisted, his voice tight with urgency.
Besides, Alaric had appeared to be unconscious just moments ago. Who knew what Celeste had done to him?
Without further warning, Damien reached out and forcefully pushed her aside.
Celeste, unprepared for such force, stumbled backward
Her body lurched uncontrollably to the side, and she braced herself for an inevitable fall when suddenly, someone caught her from the side, preventing her from falling.
As a familiar, cool scent enveloped her senses, an unexpected wave of security washed over her.
That distinct scent instantly transported her back to the terrifying fire scene in her memory. Could it be Adrian?
Before she could even turn her head to contin her suspicion, a deep, authoritative voice resonated from above. “Damien, what do you think you are doing?” Damien’s hand, which was already on the doorhaub, trove mid–tum at the sound of that voice. He quickly looked back, his eyes meeting the cold, intense gaze of
the man standing behind Celeste “Uncle Adrian. ”
With Adrian’s steadying support, Celeste regained her balance. He released his firm grip on her auns.
Instinctively Celeste took step back, creating as
