Celeste stopped walking and turned back to look at the person who had just spoken.
Lucy wore a smile on her face, but her gaze was laced with cold malice.
Celeste turned around and let out an icy chuckle “I finally understand why you and Damien ended up together. Both of you stink of the same rot.”
Lucy’s face immediately darkened when she heard this.
Simone snapped, “Celeste, what are you talking about? If you’ve got nothing nice to say, just shut up!”
“Damien also thinks I took his three million dollars, but I got that money from selling my guardian gargoyle statues. If you both say the same thing, then you’re no different from each other.”
Lucy was struck silent.
Damien did buy those statues from her. That was an undeniable fact.
Simone refused to let her friend be humiliated and fired back, “With your half–baked medical skills, I’ll give your clinic maybe a few days before it closes down. That three million dollars could last you only a few months! When not a single patient shows up, that’ll be a real slap in your face!”
“Oh, don’t worry. Even with my half–baked skills, I could still treat someone mentally ill like you.”
“You!” Simone was fuming, her chest heaving with rage.
“You’re welcome to stop by if the other clinics fall short. Once mine opens, I’d be glad to have you.”
Then, Celeste took out a business card, shoved it into Simone’s palm, and walked away without looking back.
Simone stared at Celeste’s retreating figure, then glanced down at the card in her hand, completely enraged.
“Acupuncture, cupping therapy, acupoint therapy….
“She’s just a con! Maybe she can fool some old people, but if she ends up murdering someone I’d like to see how she handles it!”
Lucy quickly glanced at the card while listening to Simone’s outburst. She asked, “When is Celeste’s clinic opening?”

turned to look at her with surprise.
Lucy’s expression softened a little, and a faint smile touched her lips. “I just want to send Ms. Morin a grand opening gift.”
Simone immediately recognized the look on her friend’s face. She handed over the card and said, “I’ll look into it for you.”
“No.” Lucy pushed the card back to her. “It’s not appropriate for me to give it to her. It should be in your name.”
“What are you planning?” Simone asked.
Lucy smiled mysteriously. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
That evening, as Celeste walked home with Eloise, she caught sight of a familiar figure in the
distance.
The man stood near a car, wearing a neat white shirt and fitted pants, highlighting his long legs. He was on the phone, his expression unreadable as it exuded a detached, unapproachable air that kept others at a distance.
His gaze drifted her way and unintentionally locked with hers.
Adrian ended his call and walked over to them.
“Mr. Wrenford, why are you here?” Celeste stood before him with Eloise, and a hint of surprise flickered in her eyes.
“I’m here to see the child,” he answered coolly before gazing at Eloise.
“Eloise, say hello to Mr. Wrenford.”
Eloise obediently stood beside her and greeted shyly, “Hello, Mr. Wrenford…”
“Why aren’t you calling me ‘Dad‘ anymore?” he teased.
Eloise quickly ducked behind Celeste, giggling with embarrassment.
