Chapter 7
Ethan dragged Madison back to our secluded beach house, his face dark with fury.
“Ethan, you’re hurting me,” Madison whimpered, biting her lower lip pathetically.
Ethan raised his hand and slapped her hard. “What did you say to her?”
Madison fell to the floor, disbelief written across her face.
“You hit me? Why would you hit me too?”
Ethan grabbed her collar, the veins in his forearms bulging with rage.
“What did you say to her? She doesn’t snap like that for no reason. She was finally getting better.”
Madison averted her eyes guiltily.
“She insulted me first. She called me shameless, called me your mistress, said our love was just animal instinct, that you keep me like a pet–playing with me when you want and discarding me when you’re bored.”
“And isn’t that the truth?” Ethan asked coldly.
“What? Ethan, You said you loved me.”
Having lost his patience, Ethan threw her aside roughly.
“Did I? Do you really believe what men say in bed? Olivia will always be the love of my life. What are you compared to her? I only noticed you because you look like how Olivia did in college–before she was violated because of me.”
Madison froze.
She sat stunned on the floor. “I don’t believe you. She’s so damaged, you couldn’t possibly-”
Ethan suddenly grabbed her throat, his eyes bloodshot with rage.
“You worthless bitch. How dare you speak about her like that? You’re not worthy of comparing yourself to her fingernail.”
Madison cowered, shrinking away from his threatening gaze.
She realized that one more negative word about Olivia would be her last.
“I’m sorry, Ethan. Please don’t be angry, okay?”
“For the sake of our baby, please forgive me this once?”
At the mention of the baby, Ethan seemed to come back to his senses.
Olivia loved children.
Whenever friends brought their babies to visit, she would hold them endlessly.

Chapter 7
After they left, she would sit alone in her study, lost in thought.
Ethan knew that despite her silence on the matter, she was heartbroken.
Those three bastards had damaged her so severely that the doctors said she would never be able to beat destin
This was Olivia’s deepest wound.
A pain he could never mention.
Ethan slowly released his grip, his eyes filling with sadness,
“Don’t ever provoke Olivia again. Stay here and have the baby quietly, or I’ll make sure you wish you were never born.”
“Yes, yes, of course,” Madison nodded frantically, struggling to stand.
After dealing with Madison, Ethan rushed home.
When he opened the door and saw Olivia there, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He knew she wouldn’t leave him.
They’d been together for thirteen years, witnessing each other’s darkest moments and greatest struggles.
She had been willing to sacrifice everything–even herself–for him.
Besides, who else would accept her past?
But Ethan didn’t know that Olivia’s heart had already shattered beyond repair.
Nor did he understand that Olivia didn’t need anyone’s acceptance.
She was perfectly capable of living brilliantly on her own!
