No wonder Rivers Corporation reached out to him, offering to give up an additional five percent of the profits on their new project just to convince him to withdraw his Investment from the Harlow family.
They even made it clear that the withdrawal was specifically because of the Harlow family’s heiress. Moreover, they promised compensation with an even better project.
At first, Zachary thought the Rivers Corporation was simply throwing its weight around. But seeing the pair in front of him and listening to Percy’s tone, he found those rumors he’d heard didn’t seem baseless anymore.
His next words carried a distinct hint of mockery.
“What exactly do you mean by that, Mr. Grayson?” Percy asked, frowning slightly, sensing that the remark was not without intent.
Zachary didn’t bother mincing words, his expression laced with disdain.
“I’ve heard, Mr. Moore, that for years, your company’s success has relied heavily on Miss Stellar Rivers‘ talent and expertise to secure contracts. But now that she’s no longer with your company, your technical capabilities are no longer guaranteed.
“On top of that, after using her for all she was worth, you discarded her and aligned yourself with the Harlow family’s heiress, who shamelessly interfered and flaunted her position. Such conduct makes me question the integrity of everyone involved. Why would I continue investing in a company like yours?”
As soon as the words landed, Percy and Yvonne’s faces turned a mix of red and pale, shifting colors like a painter’s palette.
“Mr. Grayson, this isn’t what you think it is. Did someone tell you something?”
He had never imagined that the withdrawal of investment would once again lead back to Stellar.
Was that woman going around spreading stories about how she was abandoned? Was she determined to oppose him at every turn?
No. He couldn’t let the same thing happen again.
Steeling himself, Percy quickly adjusted his expression and said with feigned righteousness, “Mr. Grayson, there’s been a misunderstanding
“Yvonne and I are engaged. Our families arranged the marriage years ago. Stellar was the one clinging to me all these years, refusing to let go. Out of pity, I allowed her to stay in my company and gave her a chance to work.
“Who would have thought she’d take credit for our company’s achievements, pretending the success was hers alone? I assure you, our technical expertise far surpasses hers.”
“Oh, is that so?” Zachary replied, his gaze growing darker and more piercing.
Originally, Zachary thought Percy’s decision to prioritize personal gain was understandable. After all, businessmen often made pragmatic choices. It wasn’t entirely unforgivable.
But hearing Percy openly belittle his ex–girlfriend, reducing her to nothing, completely changed Zachary’s view of him. Even though he doubted Stellar had any extraordinary abilities, Percy’s words spoke volumes about his
character.
Tapping his fingers lightly on the table, Zachary asked, “Then, Mr. Moore, I’d like to hear about the HY technology mentioned in the project proposal. What exactly does it entail?

“Please explain from a professional perspective so I can better understand your company’s expertise.” The color drained from Percy’s face, and he froze on the spot.
He hadn’t anticipated Zachary would ask such a question. As the CEO of Moore Enterprises, Percy had never involved himself in the technical aspects of the business; that had always been Stellar’s responsibility.
“What’s the matter, Mr. Moore? Can’t answer? Weren’t you just saying how professional and capable your company is?”

Zachary’s fingers tapped rhythmically on the table again, but each tap felt like a warning bell echoing in Percy’s. mind.
Sweat beaded on Percy’s forehead as he clenched his jaw tightly.
“Mr. Grayson, this is unreasonable! You’re deliberately putting me on the spot!” he snapped, a hint of anger creeping into his voice.
Zachary’s expression remained calm as he posed another question. “Fine. Let’s try something else. Can your company supply the latest CM materials as a key selling point for this project?”
Percy was rendered speechless once more.
He was aware of CM materials–they were a cutting–edge concept in the aerospace industry. But they remained. purely theoretical, with no one having successfully developed them yet.
