Chapter 51
“I’ve already called the police. There are surveillance cameras here. This was an attempted assault. She won’t get away with it.”
The familiar voice caught Stellar off guard.
She looked up, finally seeing the person who had saved her.
Stephen?
He was the one who pulled her out of danger?
Her lips pressed together slightly, an unfamiliar feeling settling in her chest.
He always seemed indifferent toward her, never particularly impressed with her in class.
Yet just now, without hesitation, he risked himself to save her.
Maybe… Stephen wasn’t as cold as he seemed.
Meanwhile, Camille went pale at the mention of the police
Terror finally dawned on her.
“No! Don’t call the cops!”
Camille scrambled forward, half–kneeling on the pavement, grabbing onto the hem of Stellar’s clothes.
Tears welled in her eyes.
“I swear, I wasn’t trying to kill you! I just… just wanted to hurt you a little! If the police get involved, I’m done for! I’ll lose everything!”
Desperation dripped from her voice as she pleaded.
“Please, I know I was wrong! I don’t want to go to prison! I’m still young! Please, I beg you!”
But Stellar only shook her off, her expression icy.
“Do you take me for a fool? If Stephen hadn’t stepped in, I’d be dead or crippled right now. Attempted murder has consequences. You tried to hurt someone, so now you face the consequences. That’s how it works.”
She warned Camille before.
But Camille refused to listen.
Stellar wasn’t going to play the saint.
Camille’s face drained of all color as she collapsed onto the ground, defeated.
Moments later, the police arrived and took her away.
She was on the verge of breaking down.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
It wasn’t her idea to go after Stellar.
It was Yvonne’s.

Yvonne had refused to give her the money she was promised.
Later, she came back with one final offer–take Stellar out of the project, by any means necessary, and she would get a four hundred thousand dollars payout.
The sum would be enough for her to leave the country and start over.
That was why she had done it.
Blinded by desperation, she had gambled everything.
And now, it was too late to regret.
After Camille was taken away, Stellar and Stephen headed to the police station to give their statements.
Stellar didn’t hesitate to refuse any mediation.
By the time they stepped gratitude in her eyes.
ut of the station, she let out a deep breath, then turned to Stephen with a hint of
“Senior, thank you for saving me today.”
Then, as if suddenly realizing something, she added in admiration, “Have you trained before? You knocked over a hundred–kilo motorcycle and its rider with one kick. That was seriously impressive.”
Her voice was full of genuine praise and amazement.
Her bright eyes shimmered as she looked at him, almost as if tiny stars were reflected in them.
Stephen shifted uncomfortably under her gaze, looking away.
“It was Professor Stone who asked me to keep an eye on you. That’s the only reason I stepped in. Don’t overthink
it.”
When he walked out of the boutique earlier and saw that motorcycle speeding toward her, his body moved before his mind even had time to process.
He had acted on instinct.
But when had he ever been this impulsive?
He had been raised as an heir–trained to be rational, composed, and never act recklessly.
Yet, today…
Stellar blinked at his response, then quickly understood.
She had overstepped.
She had almost forgotten–her past, her status, everything that set them apart,
For someone like Stephen, she wasn’t even on the same level.
He was deliberately keeping his distance.
She understood that.
And she wasn’t going to take it personally.

If anything, it only reminded her to be more mindful moving forward.
“Regardless, I still want to thank you.” She smiled, as cheerful as ever
Stephen frowned slightly.
Was she an idiot?
He clearly was trying to brush her off, yet she was still smiling at him?
An inexplicable sense of frustration crept into his chest.
Annoyed, he turned to leave, but then something slipped from his pocket and landed on the ground.
