Chapter 79
Brian was caught off guard, his face turning ashen as he scurried away like a defeated rat.
Once he was gone, Xavier finally lifted his head and looked at Stellar and Suzy.
“Sorry… and thank you. I didn’t mean to cause trouble for you.”
In truth, he hadn’t wanted Stellar to see him in such an embarrassing state, covered in coffee.
It only made him feel more humiliated.
Leaving Percy was a decision he had contemplated for a long time, and it had nothing to do with Stellar.
But after hearing about her breakup with Percy, he wanted to help her and even considered pursuing her.
He thought they were alike.
But now, he heard that Stellar had successfully been admitted to the research institute.
She had moved on from Percy and was doing better and better.
Meanwhile, he remained nothing more than an ordinary man.
The gap between them was insurmountable.
He no longer had the courage to confess his feelings.
Yet Stellar had no idea what was on his mind.
Instead, she spoke candidly.
“You don’t need to apologize to me. Percy clearly lashed out at you because of me. He wanted to blacklist you, didn’t he?”
She had never liked Percy’s group of friends.
But Xavier was an exception.
She knew he genuinely wanted to help her back then.
And now, someone who had once been such an outstanding lawyer fell to this state simply because he offended Percy.
She couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
“No, this has nothing to do with you. It’s my own problem, Xavier shook his head.
He chose to walk away from that group, unwilling to continue drifting aimlessly or aiding in their wrongdoings.
That was why he had ended up like this.
“Alright, alright, can you two stop blaming yourselves?”
Suzy, who had been listening on the side, finally spoke up, unable to bear it any longer.
“At the end of the day, isn’t it just that Percy Moore being a complete scumbag? Now he even wants to blacklist a lawyer? How ridiculous-”
Suzy adjusted her hat and sunglasses, but her sharp gaze shifted to Xavier, scrutinizing him for a moment.

“Help me win a case. If you pull it off beautifully, I’ll introduce you to the right people and get you signed as our company’s long–term legal counsel.”
Xavier froze at her words, momentarily stunned.
Suzy mistook his reaction for reluctance and frowned.
“Don’t assume entertainment industry lawsuits are easy, and don’t underestimate this opportunity. It might just be the stepping stone that helps you climb back to the top.”
“No, I’m not underestimating it.”
He just hadn’t expected a major celebrity like her to actually offer him help.
After all, they had no personal connection.
As if sensing his hesitation, Suzy clarified, “I’m doing this for Stellar’s sake. But whether or not you can make this work depends on you. If you’re not up to standard, then this conversation ends here.”
When it came to business, she made her decisions with a clear head.
Xavier thought for a moment before finally nodding. “Alright, I will take on this case.”
“I think you’ve got what it takes,” Stellar added, flashing him a sincere smile.
Xavier’s heart stirred slightly, but he quickly looked away.
Until he rebuilt his career, he had no right to reach for a star that was out of his league.
After finalizing the agreement, it was already late.
Stellar decided to part ways with Suzy early and head home to rest, not wanting to worry Mary.
The next day, when she arrived at the research institute, she received bad news.
“Stellar! There’s a problem with our group’s experiment data!”
Lilian wasted no time in telling her.
Stellar was taken aback. “What happened?”
The experiment data was compiled over several days through the team’s collective effort.
There shouldn’t have been any errors.
“It looks like there was a flaw in one of the steps,” Simon said grimly, rubbing his temples as he stared at the report in his hands.
“Right now, figuring out who’s responsible isn’t the priority.”
