Chapter 34
Madison tugged at Estelle’s sleeve. “Estelle, what should we do now? We can’t afford to breach
the contract.”
Though they hadn’t secured the investment yet, their collaboration with the higher–ups was still very much in play. If they missed the drug’s release, the consequences would likely be worse than they anticipated.
The more Madison thought about it, the more frustrated she became. If only she hadn’t introduced the deal to Estelle, none of this would have happened.
Jonathan grew increasingly arrogant. “Have you made up your mind?”
Estelle looked at the glass of wine on the table and slowly raised her hand.
Just then, the door was suddenly kicked open. Dillon walked in with a serious expression on
his handsome face.
At the sight of Dillon, Jonathan, who had been so cocky moments ago, immediately stood up and looked at Dillon in fear. “Mr. Waverly? What brings you here?”
Dillon quickly glanced at Estelle before striding toward Jonathan. He didn’t speak, but the heavy tension in the air made Jonathan’s heart race.
Jonathan wiped the sweat from his forehead, forcing a smile. “Is there something you need, Mr. Waverly?”
Dillon took the wine glass from the man and casually glanced at him, causing the terrified Jonathan to collapse into his chair.
A hint of disdain flashed in Dillon’s eyes.
He casually toyed with the glass in his hand, exuding a more dangerous presence. “Since you’re offering my wife a drink, why didn’t you think to invite me as well?”
“Your wife?” Jonathan gasped. “Weren’t you and Estelle divorced?”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Dillon’s eyes darkened with killing intent. It seemed Jonathan had come prepared, intending to pressure Estelle into complying.
Estelle felt a shiver run down her spine. This had been a deliberate trap. If Dillon hadn’t shown up, she couldn’t imagine what would have happened to her.
Another shiver ran through her as she glared at Jonathan. “It seems you’ve done your
homework on me, Mr. Glover. Since you’re so eager, I assume our collaboration can continue, right?”
Hearing this, everyone froze.
Chapter 34
Both Dillon and Jonathan exchanged a glance of confusion.
However, Dillon soon understood Estelle’s intentions.
His tone softened with an affection he didn’t even realize he had. “Do you still want to cooperate with them?”
Estelle nodded slightly. “Of course. I had already discussed it with Mr. Glover. I’ll buy all his herbs, and he’s agreed to sell them to me at half the market price.”
As soon as she finished, Madison quickly handed her the contract.
Estelle smiled and opened the contract to the signature page, handing it to Jonathan. “Sign here, Mr. Glover.”
Jonathan clenched his teeth in frustration, yet he had no choice but to sign. If he didn’t, Glover Pharmacy would be under new ownership by tomorrow.
Once she had the signed contract, Estelle carefully tucked it away. She turned to Jonathan with another smile. “Well, I won’t keep you any longer. Goodbye.”
With that, she quickly grabbed Madison’s hand and headed for the door.
The entire scene unfolded so quickly that Jonathan’s associates didn’t even have time to react. However, Dillon followed Estelle without hesitation.
The three of them entered the elevator together. Seeing that Estelle still refused to speak to him, Dillon couldn’t help but frown.
The temperature in the elevator seemed to drop suddenly, and Madison subconsciously glanced at Dillon.
The moment their eyes met, Madison quickly averted her eyes.
Estelle looked up and gave Dillon a disapproving glance. “Mr. Waverly, aren’t you going to hang out a bit with them?”
“I came to find you,” Dillon replied.
Estelle was stunned. How could he be so blunt about it?
