Chapter 38
The next day, Estelle had a nightmare all night. In her dream, she relived the incident with Timothy at the villa.
She barely had the chance to fight back before Dillon showed up, but he wasn’t there to save her. Instead, he just came to look down on her.
He felt she was tainted and unworthy of being the mother of his child. She also dreamed of the
child that was out of her reach.
Estelle walked downstairs with a pair of dark circles under her eyes.
Seth placed a glass of milk in front of her, looking worried. “You can’t push yourself too hard right now. Leave the lab work to me.”
Estelle shook her head and turned him down. “You’ve been working for months without a
break. You should take a rest for a few days. I’ll be fine. It’s just…‘
Thinking about having to deal with Dillon again gave Estelle a headache.
Seth’s eyes flickered with sorrow. It had been five years, and Estelle was still acting so distant with him. She still refused to give him a shot.
He sported a wry smile but quickly pulled himself together. “Alright. I’ll be at the lab around noon. If you want to drop by, just give me a heads–up. I’ll do a quick checkup for you.”
Estelle nodded and went back to eating her breakfast. After finishing her food, she drove to
Stellar Foundation.
Just as Estelle walked inside her foundation, Julie came in right behind her with a woman she didn’t recognize.
Haley Mack reached out her hand with a warm smile. “Hi, I’m Haley.”
Estelle paused for a moment before shaking Haley’s hand. She glanced behind Haley, relieved to see that Dillon wasn’t here. Everything would be fine as long as Dillon didn’t show up.
Noticing Estelle kept glancing at the door, Haley looked at her with confusion. “Are you expecting someone else, Ms. Sawford?”
Estelle quickly denied it, “No.”
She took the proposal Haley handed over. They kept the cost low to make it accessible for
everyone and went all out with the promotion.
After reading the proposal, Estelle gazed at Haley with a puzzled look. “If you stick to this plan, you’re giving all the profits to our lab. Are you running a charity?”

Haley shook her head with a smile. “I understand you have some doubts about our collaboration, but Mr. Waverly made his intention clear, Ms. Sawford.
“Cancer treatment drugs have always been expensive, and stomach cancer is quite common among average people. He wants everyone to be able to afford the medicine.”
Estelle snickered. She wasn’t looking down on the idea but on Dillon.
Was Dillon kindhearted? Or was he just using Estelle to do charity work for Alison’s sake?
After all, it had all happened before. She helped an important figure solve a problem, but he gave all the credit to Alison. He even went as far as to say she had so many accomplishments that she shouldn’t be making things hard for Alison.
But every time she was about to shine, Alison would always get help and steal her spotlight. Meanwhile, with all the insults and ‘deliberate efforts to take her down, she ended up becoming the laughingstock.
Estelle put on a serious face and handed the proposal back. “I’m sorry, but I’m not interested in partnering with your company.”
Haley was dumbfounded as she hummed.
She looked uncertain and asked, “Are you sure you don’t want to collaborate with us, Ms. Sawford? I don’t think any other company has an offer better than ours.”
Estelle shook her head again. “My apologies. You’re too virtuous for me. I’m just a businesswoman, so I’m not as noble as you all.”
Hearing the sarcasm in Estelle’s words, Haley was stupefied. Why did it seem like Estelle wasn’t too fond of the company she was working for?
