Chapter 57
Baxter was flirting with a nurse in his room. When the door was suddenly opened, he reflexively pushed her out of his embrace.
His gaze turned resentful when he saw that it was Dillon. “Hey, can’t you learn to knock?”
Dillon merely walked into the room, sat down in frustration, and lit a cigarette. However, he did not take a puff of it and simply watched as it burned into ashes.
Noticing that Dillon wasn’t behaving like his usual self, Baxter quickly became serious. He. looked straight at Dillon and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Estelle is Alex.”
“What?”
Baxter leaped to his feet at Dillon’s words, staring at Dillon incredulously. “Are you kidding?
Estelle is Alex?”
Dillon nodded slightly before letting out a self–deprecating chuckle. It’d been so many years,
and he knew nothing about it all along.
A violent impulse rose within him at the thought of how clueless he’d been despite living under the same roof as Estelle in the past. He had the greatest urge to lock her up and study every fiber of her being.
“Chill, Dillon. Chill.” Baxter tried to calm Dillon, who was on the brink of acting recklessly, at
once.
But Dillon only shot him a frosty look. “Look into it.”
Seeing how worked up Dillon was, Baxter leaned against the table and studied him with a look of humor in his eyes.
After quite some time, he finally plucked up the courage to speak up. “Dillon, you care very much for Estelle, don’t you?”
“Of course not.” Dillon denied it in a heartbeat.
Baxter raised a brow and pinned a sly, knowing look on Dillon. “You just can’t get over yourself to admit that you’ve fallen for someone who has once deceived you, am I right? I get
it.”
“No.”
Dillon rose to his feet as a frosty look took over his features. He scoffed in disdain. “Any
woman of mine better not even dream about getting involved with other men–not even in death.”

“But you don’t treat Alison this way,” Baxter muttered to himself.
Though Dillon claimed that he was going to marry Alison, he had never been so upset about her being around other men. Estelle was the only one who could get such a huge reaction out of him. Unfortunately, he wasn’t ready to admit it.
At the thought of something, Baxter sighed. “If it’s true that Estelle is Alex, then it’s hard to tell what she’s capable of. I heard that there are quite a lot of influential people who are on good terms with her. She…”
Baxter studied Dillon’s expression carefully. Moments later, he quietly murmured, “Would she still want anything to do with you?”
He had barely finished his words when a sinister look shot his way.
Baxter smiled uneasily. “I was just joking.”
“Find out how she turned out to be Alex, pronto, Dillon said as he looked away. And with that, he turned to leave.
When Dillon returned to the quiet villa once again, he entered the room Estelle used to stay in. Although everything had been kept just the way it was, he could no longer remember what she used to do in there.
He lay down on the bed and closed his eyes, trying to feel her presence. She had come back a few days ago, and her unique scent seemed to fill the room once more.
Dillon gradually closed his eyes, and his breathing steadied.
Early the next morning, Timothy immediately flew back by helicopter and went straight to the hospital upon getting to know that Alison was in there.
Chapter 58
Timothy only looked less anxious when he saw Alison sitting safely and soundly on the bed. He strode up to her and asked with concern, “Are you alright, Alison? Are you feeling unwell anywhere?”
But all Alison felt was frustration when she saw the concern in his eyes. “Why isn’t Dillon here to see me?”
Timothy was caught off guard at the mention of Dillon. He quickly became gloomy and
couldn’t help complaining, “Alison, I’m the one who cares about you the most now. Come on, look at me.”
Sensing his displeasure, Alison looked up at him. As she did so, her lashes quivered ever so lightly. “I’m sorry. I just thought that if all of you found out about Estelle’s identity, none of you would like me anymore. That’s why I wanted to meet Dillon.”
“Her identity?” Timothy didn’t quite follow. He asked in confusion, “What other identity could she have? She can’t be someone influential can she?”
Timothy seemed tickled by his thoughts and chuckled. Then, he gave Alison a light flick on the forehead. “But why are you overthinking things? I’m your brother, and I’ll always be on your side.”
Alison was stunned for a moment by how readily he answered her. Then, she gingerly asked, Even if Estelle is Alex?”
“Alex?” Timothy found the notion amusing. “Quit joking, Alison. That’s Estelle we’re talking about. She’s a troublemaker and pretty much just a useless good–for–nothing.‘
A sly glint flashed in Alison’s eyes when she realized that Timothy didn’t buy that. “She really is Alex. Lance vouched for it. I’m just curious when Estelle and Mr. Sterling got to know each other.”
“That’s impossible!”
Timothy bolted to his feet and paced around in the hospital room, muttering to himself. A while later, he looked at Alison curiously and asked, “Estelle, that troublemaker… She’s Alex? But where would she get the money?”
Then, he thought, “Estelle couldn’t have found herself a sugar daddy, could she?”
A sinister smile graced Alison’s features when she saw through Timothy’s thoughts. Then, she heaved a sigh before saying, “Now that I think about it, we’ve had rumors going around during our school days.
“Some people claimed that they saw Estelle getting into an elderly man’s car. Could it have started since then…?”
