Timothy slapped hits forehead and came to a sudden realization. “You’re right! Estelle must have found herself a sugar daddy! How else would she get the money? I’ll go tell Ethan about this right away!”
Then, without bothering about Alison, he hurried out of the room.
For once, Alison wasn’t mad about it.
Over at Stellar Foundation, Estelle carefully put away the emerald pendant she had won at the auction the night before. Then, she looked up at Seth and flashed him a smile.
“Seth, I’ll be fine meeting Mr. Pembroke alone.”
“That won’t do.” Seth wore a serious expression “Mr. Pembroke doesn’t just meet anyone. I had to go through Dr. Summers to get some intel on getting into the good books of the security at the Pembroke residence. It’d be better if I went along with you.”
Estelle wasn’t sure whether to be angry or amused by how little faith Seth had in her.
But Madison was done. She couldn’t stand the intense look Seth had on Estelle, She shook her head in disgust and said, “Stella, just let him go with you. He’s picked up a few tricks from Dr. Summers on how to sweet–talk others. Perhaps he’d be able to win Mr. Pembroke over.”
Estelle looked over at Seth once again.
He adjusted his glasses and flashed her a polite smile. Clearly, if she didn’t let him accompany her today, she’d have a hard time leaving the foundation.
“I guess I’ll have to trouble you then, Seth.”
Estelle thanked Seth before leaving with him.
They had barely arrived at the Pembroke residence and hadn’t even voiced out their intentions when Davis Fitch, the security guard, shot Estelle a disdainful look the moment he saw her. You’re Estelle Sawford? Get lost. Mr. Pembroke isn’t going to meet you.”
Estelle was somewhat confused when she caught the disdain in his eyes. She exchanged a glance with Seth before smiling at Davis. “May I ask why that is, sir?”
Davis sneered. “Women like you–women who rely on men to gain success–are nothing new to Mr. Pembroke. Does he need a reason for not wanting to meet you?”
