Chapter 65
Dillon glanced sideways at Ronald and then quickly looked away. He flashed a quick, dismissive grin.
He would never have second thoughts. He’d make his enemies have regrets, instead.
Seeing that Dillon still wouldn’t admit it, Ronald shook his head.
“You really have no emotional intelligence at all. You want to…”
Before he could finish, Ronald suddenly caught sight of Dillon’s cold stare. Ronald stopped and then chuckled meaningfully.
Forget it. If a young person didn’t experience the struggles of love, they’d keep thinking the world revolved around them.
Before leaving, Dillon didn’t forget to remind him.
“Ronald, the seedlings for the herbs we talked about–please arrange for those quickly. I’ve got everything ready on my side.”
Ronald snorted at that. He clasped his hands behind his back and put on a serious face.
“So now you’re asking for my help?”
Dillon’s eyes flashed with helplessness. He reminded him, “Mr. Pembroke, this is a mutually beneficial partnership. I’m providing the land and the technology, and you’re providing the seedlings. It’s a pleasant cooperation.”
Pleasant?
Ronald snorted again.
“Fine. Since you’re so sincere, I’ll help this time. But…”
Ronald trailed off, leaving his sentence unfinished.
Dillon’s eyes turned icy in an instant. His tone grew colder. “What, do you have an issue with
me?”
Ronald shook his head with a smile. “No, it’s not that. But there’s one thing I need to make clear to you, Mr. Waverly. I’m a man of principle. I separate my personal life from my professional life. I hope you won’t let personal feelings interfere with our work.”
“I won’t.” Dillon immediately assured him.
Seeing him agree so easily, Ronald couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.
After returning to the lab, Estelle quickly handed over the process and eagerly had Julie post the news about their collaboration with Ronald online.
Chapter 65
Less than half an hour later, Jonathan called.
In the evening, Seth followed behind Estelle as they went to the banquet.
Jonathan had personally invited them to further discuss the sale of raw materials.
At the same time, Timothy got the news. He and his people were on their way.
In the private room, Jonathan stood up with a big smile as the two entered.
“Ms. Sawford, I’m ashamed. I heard the staff made a mistake and sent you some defective goods instead.”
Estelle glanced at Jonathan, who had a somewhat obsequious grin, and a quick flash of mockery crossed her eyes.
If it weren’t for Ronald, would he be acting like this?
After sitting down, Estelle responded with a playful smile. “Mr. Glover, you’re too kind. You manage so many employees, so occasional slip–ups are bound to happen.”
Jonathan gave an awkward laugh.
Meanwhile, he silently cursed Timothy in his mind. If he’d known Estelle would be working with Ronald, he would have never dared to get on her bad side.
Seeing her expression so calm, Jonathan felt a knot tighten in his stomach.
He couldn’t understand Estelle’s thoughts, so he asked, unable to stop himself, “By the way Ms. Sawford, I heard that the Zeller and Kingston families haven’t started harvesting their herbs yet? That could take a while. Meanwhile, qurs are all processed. Should I send them to you tomorrow?”
“Thank you, Mr. Glover,” she replied, raising her glass in gratitude.
“Well then, I’ll just…”
The door to the private room was suddenly kicked open with force.
Timothy stormed in, his eyes filled with rage as he glared at Estelle.
“Estelle, how did you manage to get in good graces with Mr. Pembroke?”
At the sound of his infuriating voice, Estelle frowned.
She set down her glass, straightened up, and looked at him with annoyance. “What’s the matter?”
