Chapter 71
Alison’s face filled with panic. “Dillon…”
Dillon’s expression remained unchanged, but the intense pressure emanating from him made it difficult for Alison to breathe.
After a long silence, Dillon’s gaze grew even colder.
“Aren’t you going to say anything?” he asked.
Alison shuddered and pretended to calm herself, shaking her head.
“No, I just… I just couldn’t recall at that moment. After all, so many years have passed.”
She spoke quickly, then cautiously observed Dillon’s expression again.
Seeing that he appeared cold and distant, lacking his usual warmth, Alison grew even more
anxious.
It seemed Estelle had truly influenced Dillon. She had to think of a way to pull him back quickly.
Alison quickly adjusted her expression, lowering her gaze slightly, and hesitated before speaking to Dillon.
As expected, Dillon asked.
“Is there something else you’re not telling me?”
Alison sighed, a look of worry crossing her face.
“I know that saying this might seem like I’m trying to stir up trouble, and I shouldn’t be talking about it, but back then, I only listened to Estelle. She said she wanted to make you feel sorry for her, so she deliberately avoided getting a medical checkup. She even threatened me, saying…”

Her eyes reddened, and tears quickly blurred her vision.
Dillon’s brows furrowed tightly. “Are you saying she faked her stomach cancer diagnosis?”
Realizing she had said too much, Alison quickly shook her head, looking flustered.
“I didn’t say anything! I didn’t say anything.”
Seeing her panic, Dillon’s expression grew even colder.
“So everything that happened was her own doing?”
For a brief moment, Alison’s eyes flashed with joy, but she quickly masked it with a fearful expression.

She shook her head again. “Dillon, please don’t be angry. Estelle just loves you too much. The reason she’s distant now might just be part of her plan to draw you in.”
A plan to draw him in?
Dillon’s mood lightened significantly, and his lips curled into a faint smile.
He had always known Estelle still loved him. Now it seemed all of this was just a game she had set up to capture his attention.
“Dillon.” Alison softly called his name, her voice full of concern. “Estelle really cares about you. Please don’t hurt her.”
Dillon leaned back in his chair, snickering derisively.
Now, Estelle was avoiding him, even making it difficult for him to get close to her. How could he hurt her?
Seeing that Dillon remained silent, Alison became a little anxious.
“Dillon?” she called softly.
Dillon snapped back to attention, sitting up straighter.
“Didn’t Estelle always bully you? Don’t you hate her?”
Alison paused for a moment before smiling and shaking her head.
“I know Estelle didn’t mean to. She was just upset because Timothy and you were both so good to me. A little bit of suffering doesn’t matter.”
With that, Alison raised her head, wiping away the nonexistent tears. She even made sure Dillon could see the marks on her arm.
Those marks were from a time when she and Estelle had a quarrel. It was Estelle who had scratched her.
Since then, Dillon had completely turned against Estelle.
As expected, Dillon’s eyes grew colder as he said, “So, you’re saying you’re great and Estelle messed up, so she should face the consequences, right?”
His words seemed to be directed at Alison, but they also felt like a lover’s soft murmur.
Alison shivered inside. Something felt off. She sensed that Dillon was dangerous now.
She suddenly had a bad premonition.
“Dillon…”
“I’ve been busy lately, so I don’t have time to see you. Don’t you have your theater performance? Go ahead and focus on that.”

Dillon said this and then lowered his head, resuming his work.
Alison’s mind went blank in an instant.
Was Dillon pulling away from her?
