Seeing that no one was paying attention to her, Madison finally let out a sigh of relief.
“That was close. I can’t believe I forgot–that bitch is really good at luring people in. There was this one woman who got viciously attacked online just for saying she didn’t like Alison.”
Shaking her head, Madison added, “People must be blind to actually like a woman like that.”
“Shut up,” Estelle warned again.
People were starting to glance their way.
Not wanting to watch the pair dancing any longer, she turned and headed outside to the garden.
She wasn’t sure how long she had been standing there, but just as she was about to head back inside, she heard footsteps approaching.
With no other choice, she quickly hid. The last thing she wanted was to get caught eavesdropping on some couple’s private moment–it would just be awkward for everyone.
“Dillon.”
Estelle was just about to duck behind a bush when she heard the name.
For a moment, she froze. Then, she turned to look.
Sure enough, it was Dillon and Alison.
Alison clung to his back, her voice trembling with suppressed tears. “I’ve only ever loved you, ever since I was young. I don’t want to marry someone else. Dillon, let’s get married, okay?”
Dillon frowned and immediately pulled her off him, taking a step back to put some distance between them.
“The Sawford family won’t give you a hard time anymore. And I heard they’re about to adopt- you officially. They wouldn’t send you away at a time like this, especially when you’re carrying a baby. They will protect you.” 1
Alison’s tears fell even harder after she saw that he had no intention of helping her.
Dillon merely watched in silence, then handed her his handkerchief when she had almost cried herself out.
She snatched it from him with a huff, her voice filled with grievance. “Dillon, I love you! Why are you rejecting me? Aren’t we meant to be together?”
He glanced toward a pine tree nearby.
His eyes flickered with amusement when he caught sight of a camellia embroidered on the

hem of a dress peeking out from behind it.
His expression quickly turned serious again.
“I’m married,” he stated.
“You…”
Alison stomped her foot in frustration.
That sham of a marriage between him and Estelle had been a setup. It didn’t count.
But she couldn’t say that outright.
In the end, with no response from him, Alison huffed and stormed off.
That was it? She just left?
Estelle couldn’t help sneaking another glance at Dillon.
Had she misheard?
The man who had once loved Alison so obsessively, wished death upon her, and succeeded in making sure she “died” on that operating table, was now rejecting Alison?
Had something happened in the five years she was gone?
“Are you really not coming out?”
She had been so lost in thought that she didn’t realize Dillon had turned toward her.
Estelle stiffened. Instinctively, she turned to bolt in the opposite direction.
She barely took two steps before a strong hand grabbed hold of her.
A familiar, faintly cool scent filled her senses.
Furious, she smacked his arm.
“Dillon, let go of me!”
Above her, he chuckled softly.
Then, in a teasing tone, he said, “You eavesdrop on me, and you still dare to act all righteous?”
She rolled her eyes. “You two were the ones talking in a public space. If you didn’t want people overhearing, you should’ve chosen a better location.”
With that, she took a step back.
“Watch out!”
Dillon pulled her forward, and her nose smacked right into his solid chest.
Pain shot through her face, and her eyes instantly welled up with tears.

Clutching her nose, she glared at him indignantly
“Why the hell is a big–shot CEO built like that?”
If her nose weren’t natural, she would need reconstructive surgery right about now.
