“Cindy, did these things really happen?”
Cindy paused.
<
She couldn’t believe he would actually ask that.
“Jake, are you accusing me of lying?”
Jake’s face darkened.
He pushed her away. “We’ve lived together for
five years, and Sarah isn’t like that. Don’t say that again.”
Cindy grew pale, and her eyes started to water.
Mikey looked and grew angry.
“Jake, why are you talking to Cindy like that?
She’s always been bullied by Sarah!”
Before he could finish, Jake interrupted him.
“Did you see it?”
Mikey didn’t say anything.
He had never seen it with his own eyes, but
<
At first, he hadn’t believed her, but after she
said it so many times, he had started to believe
her.
Compared to Cindy, Sarah was always arrogant, and it was easy to think of her as cold.
Cindy panicked.
She got out of bed and the IV needle in her arm
came loose.
She rushed to apologize and grabbed him.
“Jake, I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to make her look
bad. She’s a good person, but I was worried
that she would misunderstand you.”
“But the woman that you married is me, and I
don’t get to be with you publicly. I can’t help
but feel sad.”
“It’s all my fault. If I could have children, you

wouldn’t have had to go through this.”
The five–year love game that she kept talking
about reminded him of the text.
It felt like he was getting stabbed.
Five years ago, I was cancelled on my
engagement party.
And they had planned that with Cindy,
designing the stunt that made Mikey fall into a
coma.
And then Jake was going to be the hero,
standing up for me.
He remembered seeing my expression at the wedding for the first time.
He couldn’t help but feel a pain in his heart.
For the first time, Jake felt impatient and

disgusted.

It was like he had never truly understood her.
“Alright, don’t bring it up again. I have to go.
Have Mikey take care of you.”
Jake turned and left, not listening to her.

Mikey looked at Cindy, but he couldn’t bring
himself to say anything.
After Jake walked out, his assistant called him.
“Jake, I found out that Sarah went to the
Bureau of Civil Affairs and asked about
something that happened five years ago.”
“She might have found something out. You should go home.”
Jake stopped breathing.
“Whon2”
<
“When?”
“About three days ago.”
Jake started to remember.
He got in his car and drove home.
On the way, he kept calling my phone, but it
kept going to voicemail.
Jake texted me, but he only saw the red
exclamation point.
This had never happened before.
We had been married for five years, and we
didn’t even argue that much, much less do
something like this.
Jake started to panic.

He also didn’t know what to say.
Any time there were problems, I would bury it
and act like nothing had happened.
When Jake got home, the house was empty.
He ran to the bedroom. “Sarah?”
But no one responded.
He noticed that some of my things were
missing.
My make–up was gone, and my clothes were
gone.
He frantically searched through the house but
couldn’t find me.
All that was left was an abortion certificate and
a fake marriage certificate on the table.

Jake was in shock when he saw them.

On the marriage certificate, there was a note:
“Jake, I don’t want to play this game you’ve
been playing for five years.”
“I don’t think we need to get a divorce since it’s
fake.”
He saw the abortion certificate that said I was
two months pregnant.
These things stabbed him in the heart.
He squeezed the papers and slowly sat down.
His memories from the last five years started
flashing in his head.
He trembled and kept calling and trying to add
- me.
く
But it was no use.
At that moment, Jake realized something.
I knew the marriage certificate was fake.
I knew what was going to happen to the baby,
so I didn’t hesitate to get rid of it.
I already knew about him and Cindy.
Eventually, the sky outside darkened.
Only then did Jake regain his senses.
He called his assistant. “Find her. I don’t care
how much it costs, find Sarah!”
Soon, Mikey found out that I had left.
He rushed to Jake’s company.
“What do you mean, she found out about

everything? What are we going to do? What
about Cindy?”
“She’s gone. What about the company? Am I
going to be the only one to take care of it?”
Jake sat there with dark circles around his
eyes.
“I’m going to find her. I don’t care if she sues
- me. I’ll make it up to her.”
Mikey couldn’t believe it.
He thought that Jake felt differently about
Cindy.
After a while, he said, “What about Cindy?”
“You chose to trick Sarah. Now she’s gone. I
can take care of the company. Don’t look for
her.”

Jake’s face paled, and his fist tightened.
“It’s my fault. Cindy and Sarah didn’t do
anything. I’m going to divorce Cindy. We can
act like nothing happened.”
Mikey paused.
Before he could respond, Jake said, “Sarah’s
your sister.”
Mikey couldn’t say anything.
His face was white, and he sat there silently.
Jake clicked on his chat with me.
As he scrolled up, he felt a pain in his heart.
“Are you coming back for dinner? I made your
favorite dish.”
“It’s cold, so I made some soup for you and had
<
someone deliver it.”
“Are you coming home early tonight? I have
something to tell you.”
Jake stared at that text.
He was going to tell me about the baby.
Jake started getting emotional.
He started crying.
