“You messed up,” my mom yelled, jumping in
front of Mr. Johnson. “My daughter–in–law is
supposed to be your Marketing Manager. Did
you get hit in the head, you don’t know who you
are supposed to be hiring?”
My dad shook his head. “Why would you hire
her? She is not as good as Tiffany it’s obvious

her? She is not as good as Tiffany, it’s obvious.
She doesn’t have any of the skills that Tiffany has. What are you doing?”
Mr. Johnson was annoyed. “This is a business,
not a circus. If you continue making a scene, I’m going to call the police.”
Mom sat on the floor, “Fine, call them, I’ll tell
them what’s really going on here. Your
company is doing some shady things and I want
everyone to know!”
My brother yelled out “Did she pay you off?
Why else would you choose her instead of Tiffany?”
Tiffany was starting to panic and glared at me. “Did you get her to hire you instead of me? I know I was supposed to get this job! How did this happen?”
She ran at me, yelling and screaming, “Give me
:
back my job you crazy woman!”
Mr. Johnson got the security guard to grab her while he gave her the stink eye.
“Who we hire is our business, not yours,” he
said. “Besides, with that attitude, even if you
were the most qualified person in the world, we would not hire you!”
That shut her up for a minute.
Jake hugged her, but yelled at me. “You
shouldn’t have been born, you’ve ruined
everything. I already told…”
He stopped talking.
I said “You told what?”
He stopped, obviously realizing what he said.
He wasn’t stupid, he knew if he told me the
truth he’d be in so much trouble.

Mr. Johnson then turned back to me. “Oh yeah,
congratulations, we are developing our new
managers, so you’ll have to go through a
training course overseas once you’ve started
your position here.”
That was another blow for Tiffany. It showed
that my career would be going places that she
could only ever dream of.
She glared at me, “I’m not going to give up!”
