The day to day life at GlobalTech kept me busy, which was just what I needed.
<
Late one night after overtime I saw Jake
waiting outside for me. “Riley, it’s been so long,
let’s grab a bite to eat?”
I looked at him and rolled my eyes. I tried to
walk past him, but he grabbed my arm. “C’mon,
Riley, I’ve been waiting hours, I know you’re
mad, just hear me out.”
“Why would I talk to you? We’re not family and
I am definitely not your girlfriend. Oh wait, your
girlfriend. Shouldn’t you be running around
trying to make her happy? She looked like she’s
been having a tough time.” I said in a sarcastic
tone.
He sighed. “Ever since the whole job thing
happened, she hasn’t wanted to talk to me. I
know you work at a big company, I was hoping
you’d have some contacts that could get her a
manager position.”
I thought maybe he was regretting his actions,
but he was only thinking of Tiffany. And not just
any job, he wanted a manager position. I
couldn’t help but laugh.
“Bro, no, you’re not my brother anymore, and you signed that document so we are strangers. Do you think a stranger is going to help you?”
“And if you think Tiffany is so good, why can’t she go and get a new job herself? Why do I have to do it?”
“She…” He looked like he had no idea what to
say.
They had become infamous overnight when the video went viral. Any company that had any sense of self respect wouldn’t touch a family
like that. Tiffany’s reputation was completely ruined.
“Even if you aren’t thinking about Tiffany, we are related by blood. Mom and Dad miss you, they’re sad they let you move out. They understand they messed up, can’t you look past this for them?”
“They are not old and they are not stupid, they are selfish and cold blooded. Don’t worry about it, I might be forgetful, but I hold a grudge. You guys stopped being my family when you signed that document.”
I walked away, but he came running after me. “Riley, stop being dramatic! You don’t need to take this so far!”
“You still have a job, why can’t you just move on?”
He was showing his true colors, and I smiled at
him, pointing at his chest.
“I’m like this because I can ho
“I’m like this because I can be.”
“Can you?”
