Chapter 10.
Courtney POV.
Something settles into the pit of my stomach. I haven’t seen Chloe since she walked out and I have this nagging feeling she is some kind of trouble. I mentioned this to Wolf, and he told me he would send two of the members to find her and that she would be off sulking somewhere. I
didn’t like that. She shouldn’t be sulking at all.
I mean, I get it; she has always had Wolf and I have always had momma but whether we like it
or not; we are half sisters. That should count for something, right?
Kaden came to remind me to meet him and I just rolled my eyes because I did actually forget.
I’m blaming the baby brain and not the fact I am shitting my pants with what he has to tell
- me.
I wait until the members are all partying, and I slip out to momma’s truck. I climb inside and
turn the engine over and turn the heater on. It is chilly even in my coat and I wait for the
interior to heat up so I’m nice and toasty.
The door opens and Kaden slips in and shuts the door and I turn to look at him and he rubs
his hands together. Even though we are in the south, it still gets chilly of a night.
“Ok, what is it you wanted to tell me?” I get straight to it. I really need a shower and sleep.
Wolf has scheduled an appointment at the local hospital for me to have a prenatal checkup.
Even though I told him I wasn’t due another one for a few weeks, he insisted and I caved in. No point in arguing, especially when I told him I would give him a chance.
“What I am about to tell you will be hard to hear at first, but you wanted to know why Chief
was after you and your momma.” He says and I nod my head and fold my arms over my chest,
guarding myself for what he has to tell me.
“Chief is your great–grandpa. Your momma was his granddaughter. It was his daughter, son–in–law and grandson who were killed. Your momma escaped. The club responsible for this was the Brothers Of Mayhem. They are the ones who are after you. But that is not all. Your great–grandpa he is from a powerful family. He has enemies everywhere, even though he turned his back on that part of his family.” Kaden tells me, and I just blink.
My great–grandpa is the president of the biggest and strongest MC in the world. That means… Oh god that means not only am I in more danger than I first thought, but I have a bigger family
out there and they have been looking for us to protect us.

“I know this is a lot to take in. I told Chief I found you and your momma, but I haven’t told him where you are. He has given me three days to get you to him so he can protect you. There is something he isn’t telling me.” He says and I just nod, listening to him. What can I say? This is too much to take in. I have a bigger family, a family momma never told me about. A family that has been looking for us for longer than twenty years.
“Does Wolf know? And what do you think Chief isn’t telling you?” I ask because I agree there is something missing with this information.
“Because of his family connections, I think they played a part in the death of his daughter, son–in–law, and grandson. And no Wolf doesn’t know. No one does.” He says, and I nod my
head.
“What are Chief’s family connections?” My gut is screaming at me that this is bad, so very bad. I rub my belly to calm myself down before the s**t storm hits.
“Mafia, your great–grandpa’s family is part of the mafia. That makes you

“Part of the mafia. That was why momma ran and never went back to him. She was scared that they would find her and end her like the rest of her family. Christ on a bike. No wonder she trained me to defend myself. Kaden, this is bad, so very bad, I need to tell Wolf and get to Chief before these people get to me.” I turn the engine off and rip the keys out, opening the door as I slip out and walk, fighting the tears when Kaden engulfs me in his arms and I sob.
I sob for my momma, for her family, for the man who is my great–grandpa. I sob for my bean and I sob for everything that has happened to us.
“I won’t let anything happen to you. I give you my word. We may never get back together and I will respect that, but let me protect you and our child. Please, Courtney, I can’t lose you both, especially knowing what you do now. I love you and I have only ever loved you and now our baby.” He says, and I move out of his hold and look at him. I look from him to the clubhouse and see Chloe standing there watching us with her hands balled into fists.
“Chloe, wait.” I say when she turns and storms off inside. I shake my head at him and take a
step back.
“Where is Chief?” I ask him, and I see the hurt on his face. Thank you, Chloe, for reminding me of what Kaden did to me. I needed that little reminder.
“I can’t tell you that. I will take you.” I turn and walk away. He is only doing this for me to fall in love with him again, but that’s the problem. I still love him, but I can’t trust him, not after what
happened.

Sure, he can say he was drugged, but if that was the case, then he should have left Chloe in
the dust and he didn’t.
I enter the clubhouse and go in search of Wolf when Chloe steps in front of me and I look at
her.
“Chloe, it is not what…” she slaps me across the face and my head whips to the side. The ole ladies gasp and stand up to grab her. I turn my head back, licking the blood from my lip and I smirk at her, reel my fist back and let it fly, clocking her in the jaw.
She is out cold on the clubhouse floor. I was trying to be the bigger person, but you never slap me and expect me to not retaliate. I am pregnant for f**k’s sake and she has not one ounce of respect and I walk closer to her.
“Lights out bitch.” I walk past her prone form and rub my cheek.
“What the f**k?” Kaden screams and I pay him no attention. I don’t need this drama and bullshit. I need to get to the Devil’s Warriors. I need to get to my great–grandpa.
I enter my bedroom and lock the door. I grab the laptop and search for the club online, but there is nothing. Of course, there won’t be public information on a club run by the mafia. I sigh and decide I need to ask someone I trust. Someone who can’t hold their own piss.
Someone who will talk easily, someone like Storm. Besides, he is easy on the eyes and has a heart of gold. He has given me no reason to not trust him.
I smirk to myself and leave my room and head to the bar and see Chloe glaring at me from across the room, holding an ice pack to her jaw. I walk behind the bar and the prospect hands
me an ice pack.
“Jesus, what happened? Is bean ok?” the man I need comes running towards me and takes my face in his hands and tilts my face from side to side and looks from me to Chloe. He growls and goes to walk to her when I grab his hand and he stops looking back at me.
“She isn’t worth it. We are both OK,” I say to him and he grabs the ice pack and leads me back to my room, his hand still in mine and he helps me inside. He places the ice pack in a clean washcloth and applies it to my cheek.
“Thank you Storm. I need your help.” I say to him and he looks at me and nods his head.
“Don’t mention it. What can I do for you? How can I help?” he asks, his voice above a whisper.
“Where can I find the Devil’s Warriors?”
