Book 2 Chapter 6.

Courtney POV.

My phone rings and I smile as I see Casey’s name flash across the screen. I slide to accept.

“MOM, MOM, LIA, SHOT, MOM, HELP US.” I jump up from my chair and run.

“Casey, baby, calm down, please calm down. Where are you? Where is Roman? Tell me, baby, where are you? I’m on my way.” I say as I run through the mansion, screaming for Kaden, tears streaming down my face.

Not my girl, no, not my girl, she is ok. She has to be. My knees threaten to buckle as I hear Roman screaming in the background, screaming at someone, telling them he will kill them. “Lia wa … was sh… shot outside the school, mom, she is… isn’t breathing.”

“I’m coming baby girl, I’m coming.” I reach the door and bolt out as I run around to the garage. “Baby, what is going on?” Kaden grabs me and I nearly collapse.

“Lia has been shot.” I say, my brain going a million miles a second as I try to get to my kids. My kids need me.

“WHAT? WHERE ARE THEY?” Kaden screams.

“Outside the junior school.” I say as we both run. Kaden has his phone out screaming orders to get the club moving to the school. My hands are shaking as I try to open the door to the

cage

when Kaden takes the keys and he puts me in the passenger seat. I can hear the wail of sirens through the phone as Casey sobs harder before she screams.

“Baby, what is happening? Stay calm for me. We are on the way.” I say to her when Roman takes the phone, and he, too, is sobbing.

“She isn’t breathing mom, the EMTs are trying to get to breathe.” When I hear the words clear and I drop the phone. NO! Who would do this? Who would want to kill my daughter?

I don’t know how long I was lost in my head when Kaden pulls the cage up at a screech. I don’t wait. I jump out of the cage, stumbling as I run, tears blurring my vision as I get closer and a police officer grabs me to stop me when I reel my fist back and punch him before throwing him over my shoulder.

“AMELIA!” I scream as I fight with the cops to get to my kids.

“Courtney, please calm down or you will be arrested.” The new deputy says.

Bock 2 Chapter 6

“Let her go, deputy. I ignore anything, only trying to get to my daughter. Rage consumes me.

This fucker is stopping me.

*f**k YOU! THAT IS MY DAUGHTER!” I scream and throw my head forward, breaking the fucker’s nose as I run to my daughter’s side as the EMTs put the mask on her face. I take her

hand in mine and squeeze it.

“It’s ok, baby girl, mom is here. Stay alive Amelia, please baby, stay alive.” I say, sobbing as I

bring her blood–soaked hand to my face.

“Ma’am, we need to get to the hospital.” The EMT tells me and I nod my head as I stand up as they lift her onto a stretcher. I look at Casey and Roman and they run from their father to me, crushing me in a hug just as the club arrives.

“She died, mom, she died, and it was all his fault.” Roman tells me and I follow where he is pointing. I look at the man, who is covered in blood and bare chested as he speaks to the

police.

I get a look at his face as he turns to look at me with sadness and regret in his brown eyes and my breath catches in my throat. I know him, but from where? Where have I seen him

before?

Right now, my brain is not functioning properly. I turn back to my kids and just hold them as we watch as Amelia is wheeled on the stretcher, both kids hiccupping as they clutch me for

dear life.

“Babies, I need you both to go with aunty Katya and meet me at the hospital. Can you do that for me?” They both clutch me harder, shaking their heads, and I look at Kaden and he walks

closer to me.

“I’ll go with her. Meet me at the hospital.” He kisses my head before he kisses and hugs the

twins. He follows the EMT and climbs in, telling him he is her father, and they close the doors

and drive off.

“Come on, she will be ok. Your sister is strong.” I wrap each kid under my arms and we walk to

the cage and I get them both inside. I look at the man and he looks at me with pity in his eyes.

“Who is that man?” I ask as Havoc comes to the door and hugs me.

“That is Leo. He is the assistant coach on the junior soccer and football teams. Ivan knows him.” He tells me and I nod my head.

“Talk to him. I want to know why he was with my daughter when she was shot. If I find out, he had anything to do with this Havoc.”

Book 2 Chapter 6.

“Say no more. He will be dealt with.” He says, kissing my head as he closes my door and I drive off at speed to get to the hospital.

“Those men were bad men, mom, they shot her.” I listen but don’t answer. I try my best to not get into an accident as I speed towards the hospital.

“Did you see them?” I ask as I tighten my grip on the steering wheel.

“No, just the car. The man was out of the window wearing a black balaclava and he opened fire.” Casey says while Roman glares, balling his hands into tight fists.

“You punched that man, son?” I ask, briefly glancing at his red knuckles.

“Yeah, I did. I would do it again. Lia is a good person mom, she isn’t like us two who cause trouble. She didn’t deserve that to happen to her.” I sigh, shaking my head.

“You two are amazing kids. This is not anyone’s fault. Only the ones who shot her. Ok, you

listen to me. You are both amazing, and Lia knows that.” I say to them both and they nod their

heads and keep them down.

We arrive at the hospital just as Lia is rushed through the hospital with Kaden beside her. We need to find who did this and find out why. That is the question, why target my daughter when she has done nothing wrong?

Whoever did this to her and our family has just declared f*****g war. A war they will wish they never started by going after my kids, my daughter. Wrong f*****g move.

We run inside the hospital and head towards the ER. The waiting room is full of the sick and injured. I don’t give a s**t right now. I need to get to my daughter.

“Kaden, where is she?” I ask as he stands glaring at the door.

“They are operating on her, Court. The bullet is still inside of her. How did this happen? Who would do this to her?” He says, sobbing as he slides down the wall. I move to him and hug him as we both break down on the cold hospital floor. I pull the kids into the hug and we wait, just holding each other, waiting for word.

It has been hours. The club is here and so is the man who I learnt from Havoc saved her or tried to. I am in his debt. He was there and pulled my daughter to safety. He shielded her and then reacted and shot back.

The doors open and we all look up as the doctor walks out and calls.

“Frost family.” We all stand up, and he walks over and looks tired.

“How is she, doc? Will she survive this?” I ask, and he nods his head.

“She is in recovery. She is a fighter, that’s for damn sure. She will be here for a few days. She is still coming out of anaesthesia. The bullet had entered through her lower left abdomen. It hadn’t exited. It was lodged next to her vertebrae. An inch to the right and it could have either killed her or left her paralysed. I am sorry to tell you this, but I had to remove her left ovary and fallopian tube. They were damaged beyond repair. The bullet was nothing like I have every seen before. It was barbed. She is very lucky.” The doctor says with a grim expression on his

face.

Barbed? Who would make sure bullets? I need to find out who did this, and we have our first

clue.

“When can we see her?” I ask as I take everything in. She is going to be devastated. Lia wanted kids when she was older. It will be hard for her now. But not impossible.

“You can go in, but two at a time. She will be moved to a private room. She will be groggy and will feel some discomfort. Again I am sorry.” The doctor says before he walks back into the
