Chapter 18.
Kaden POV.
I never thought Courtney was this clever. She figured it all out on her own. I still can’t believe it
as we are all hurtling towards Chief’s territory. He was blowing up my phone, but I didn’t
answer.
I am not ashamed to say that Chief f*****g scares the s**t out of me. He is not the president
of the biggest MC in the world for being big and cuddly. No, the man is a stone–cold killer. He
made a name for himself in his youth and some would say he has mellowed out over the
years, but when it comes to his family, he is still as fierce and scary as back then.
I can’t relax, not even as we get closer to his territory. I will relax once Courtney and our baby
are safely behind the gates of his compound and not before. I can’t drop the ball on this.
Before we left the service station, Havoc gave us all our ear pieces so we can communicate
on the ride. My men know how important it is to get to Chief, so we all agreed to only talk
when it was absolutely necessary. So we can concentrate on our surroundings.
Another two hours and we will reach our destination. I keep my eyes forward and I know the
men with me will keep an eye on the surrounding traffic. I’m in the lead with Havoc. Courtney
behind us. Storm on her right, Drift on her left and both War and Danger behind her.
To the civilians, they will know that the woman in the truck is being protected by us. So far,
nothing. Maybe the intel was wrong.
An hour out and I have to eat my words. Riding in the opposite direction is the Brothers Of
Mayhem.
“Venom.” War says through the earpiece.
“I see them. Let’s speed up.” I say when I hear Courtney’s voice.
“Erm guys, they have just pulled a U–turn and are several cars behind us.” She says, and I grit
my teeth. This is not happening!
I chance a glance and see them in the distance, and they are gaining. f**k my life!
“Baby, I need you to stay calm and stick close to us. Can you do that for me?” I say to her as
the bikes ride closer to us.
“Yeah sure can.” She replies and I see the town’s signage up ahead. We keep riding and I
check every now and then.

“Venom, we need to haul ass. They are on top of us back here.” Danger says and I rev the
throttle and we ride at speed.
“Baby, I need you to push it and keep up.” I say to Courtney and I wait for her reply.
“Ten–four. I suggest you move your bike unless you want me to ram into you.” She says and I look behind me and she is bumper to tyre with me, f**k!
The first bullet sounds and I duck down.
“Break formation. Storm stay with her and get her to Chief. These fuckers will not touch her.” I say to Storm and he replies, and so does Courtney. Havoc and I move out of the way and she floors the cage past us both as we create a barricade. Pulling my gun out of my cut. I slow the bike and turn it and fire at them as my crew do the same thing. Two get past us. I rev the throttle and turn the bike, the back tyre screeching against the asphalt as I try to catch them.
I keep firing and they dodge and weave. When I hear tyres screeching and they stop before
crashing into her.
Storm is firing his gun at them and they fire back when I get closer and more bikes appear on
the road opposite us.
“COURTNEY GO!” I scream and she is off again before she stops and my heart stops. She climbs out of the cage and in her hand is a gun. She takes her stance and fires the gun at the Brothers when we turn and join in the fight. I run to her and pull her back to her cage.
“What the f**k do you think you are doing? When I say go, I mean f*****g go.” I say to her as I
haul her ass back into the cage.
“Don’t you dare speak to me like that, Kaden Frost. Tell me where I’m going and I’m gone.” She
says to me.
I look at my men and the Brothers Of Mayhem and I know we are screwed if we don’t get out
of here.
Bullets ricochet off the cage and Courtney screams and I pull her down and cover her. She jumps with each ping when I hear the rumbling of more bikes. We are so f*****g dead.
“I’m sorry Courtney. I’m so sorry.” I say to when I hear more gunfire, but it isn’t aimed at us. I lift my head and breathe a breath of relief.
The Devil’s Warriors have arrived, and Chief is leading them. The Brothers of Mayhem have maybe just under fifty men with them, chief however, has bought over a hundred.
Chief pulls up alongside the cage, and I look at him. And he is scowling at me.

“Venom, how did I know you would be here and stuck in a damn fire fight?” He snaps at me and Courtney lifts her head and Chief halts in his beratement and his eyes go wide as he
looks at Courtney.

“Get her to the compound. We will hold them off.” He says, offering a small smile to his great granddaughter before he turns his bike and lifts his hand, removing the gun from inside his cut and opens fire.
“Follow me. You stay right behind me and you stop for nothing.” I say to Courtney, but she is
watching her great grandpa.
“Courtney,” I snap at her and she looks at me with tears in her eyes and I understand it. “You will be ok, but you won’t be if we don’t move now. Stay behind me and we stop for nothing. Can you do that for me?” I ask her, and she nods her head and gulps. I kiss her forehead before jumping out of the cage and running to my bike as I jump on and start it up. I look behind me and Courtney nods her head once.
That’s my girl.
“Guys, hold them off and meet me at the compound. I’m getting Courtney out of here.” I say through the comms link and they all reply with, aye.
I ride off at speed, with Courtney behind me. We stop for nothing as we get closer to the compound, and I know Courtney and our baby will be safe.
“We are nearly there, Court, nearly there. You are doing great.” I have been reassuring her since we drove away from the fight. She has been silent and I know she is processing seeing what she has just seen. Being in the middle of a firefight is horrible enough without your pregnant woman being in the middle of it as well.
We pull up at the compound and I shut the bike off and Courtney is sitting there, the engine still running. She looks shell–shocked.
I open her door and put the cage in neutral before shutting the engine off.
“Baby, it’s ok. You’re both safe. We’re here.” I say gently to her, not wanting to spook her.
She looks at me with tears streaming down her face and the gun in her lap. I know why she looks like this and I understand. I climb up and hug her, and she hugs me back.
“Momma looked like him.”
