Kaden POV.
“s**t!” I grab Courtney before she hits the floor. I try to wake her up, but she is out cold.
“You f*****g i***t! Couldn’t you have told her Wolf is ok before you told her he was f*****g shot!” Storm screams at me as I lift Courtney into my arms and walk with her back inside her
room. Seeing the state of the bed. I groan.
“I know. Now clear the bed so I can lie her down and then get Chief.” I snap at Storm as he moves the goodies from the bed and pulls the quilt back as I settle her back down. I check her pulse and her pupils. Her breathing is normal. I move my hands to her bump.
My hands are shaking as I feel a kick. I breathe a breath of relief. I’m such a dickhead. I should have said what Strom just said. My brain didn’t engage before I opened my mouth.
Chief comes storming into the room with doc and grabs me by the back of my cut and I’m
slammed into the wall next to the bed.
“You trying to f*****g kill her?” He growls in my face and I look at him.
“No, I said the wrong thing. She fainted before I could tell her he was ok. I know I f****d up and I’m sorry. Doc, is she and my baby ok?” I ask and Chief keeps his firm gaze on me and I can
see nothing but rage in his eyes.
“Yeah, momma, and baby are OK” Doc says and I feel myself sag with relief. But not before Chief grabs my throat and I can’t breathe.
“You ever, say anything to her to upset her again Venom, I will peel your skin layer by layer and feed you to the damn crows. You feel me? I said, do you feel me?” I nod my head and I choke when he shoves me once before releasing me, and I gasp for breath as he turns to Courtney.
“I’m sorry, she will be ok, they will both be ok,” I say, more to myself than anyone that is in the
room.
“No, thanks to you. If anything happens to either of them, Venom, I hold you responsible. Leave.” Chief says, but I look at him balling my fists.
“No, Courtney is carrying my baby. I will not leave her side. Chief. I f****d up, yes, but you want me out? You will have to move me yourself.” Chief slowly turns his head with an evil grin on
his face. I don’t flinch or react.
“Yeah, she is carrying your baby, but she is my family. Don’t forget whose territory you are in,

Venom. You want to be with her, then start f*****g acting like it. Any harm comes to her or that baby. They will never find your corpse. So get out!” Chief says as he stands to his full height. I will not be intimidated by this man.
“Yeah, our baby. Mine and hers. I am not leaving, so cut the s**t, Chief. She is my woman. I’m
staying.” I say to him as I walk past him to the other side of Courtney and climb up beside her
and just hold her in my arms.
I look at chief and he is smirking at me before he looks at Courtney and kisses her head.
“When Wolf is stable, he will be here with his club. It is time to take the Brothers Of Mayhem
out. As for Chloe, she has disappeared. In fact, the entire club has disappeared. So we are
looking for them.” Chief tells me as I run my fingers through Courtney’s bright red hair.
Grim is the president of the Brothers Of Mayhem. The man is a parasite to humanity and he
and his club need to be wiped out. They went after the Devil’s Warriors. Hell, the only club he
hasn’t gone after is mine Satan’s Reapers. But I know we will be his next target.
I have already informed my club to go into lockdown. Havoc will stay here with Drift. War and
Danger will head back to the club to oversee the club so we can plan an attack, but we can’t
attack until we know where the fuckers have gone.
A groan comes from Courtney and I look at her eyes and her eyebrows are furrowed as she wakes up. I look at her and she looks at me in confusion before she blinks her eyes and sees
- me.
“Court …”
“Is my dad alive? what happened? Why am I back in bed?” She fires her questions and Chief sits next to her and she looks from me to him and she moves from me into his arms. I feel
jealous, even though I know it is completely irrational because she is his great granddaughter.
But still, I want to be the one to comfort her.
“Sweetheart, yes, your dad is alive. He is in the hospital. The bullet was removed and he will be just fine. The Brothers Of Mayhem attacked the club and then Mayhem as well as Chloe disappeared. We are trying to locate them. And you are in bed because numb nuts over there caused you to faint by not giving you the full story when he opened his big mouth.” I scowl at Chief when she turns to look at me and I can see the rage in her eyes. I gulp.
She is giving me the same look that Chief did moments before she woke up. She grabs the
pillow and hits me with it.
“You trying to f*****g kill me, you absolute prick!” She hits me with the pillow after each word.

Storm is laughing when she stops and I look at her when she throws it and it hits his chest.
“You shut up too.” She snaps at Storm, and he holds his hands up in surrender as she climbs
out of bed. And we all move closer to her when she growls and we stop. She looks at me, then
to Chief, and then Storm.
“I need to see my dad. Which hospital is he in?” She walks to the door, holding her lower back.
I run to her and grasp her arm, and she stops. I see the tears streaming down her cheeks. It
breaks my heart. When will this beautiful woman catch a break?
“Baby, we are in lockdown. We can’t leave the territory. Your dad will be here in a few days. I
promise you we will find them and they will be taken care of.” I say to her as I pull her into a
hug.
“Why does this keep happening to my family? Why? Tell me, Kaden. Why does this keep
happening to me?” She sobs as she hits my chest and I tighten my hold on her.
“I don’t know, baby, I promise you now. You and our little girl are both safer here. We will get
them. We will make them pay for everything. I give you my word.” She lifts her head, shaking
her head as she steps back from me and my heart tears up at the defiance in her eyes.
“What will happen to Chloe?” She throws my words back at me from the night before and I
look at her. Feeling completely and utterly defeated.
“She will be dealt with.” Courtney shakes her head as Chief steps up behind her and places his
hand on her shoulder.
“Nonno, call them.” She says and I look from her to Chief and he is smirking slightly and I look
at her, confused.
“Call who? Do you know where they have gone?” I ask her as I step closer to her, only for her to hold her hand up, stopping me.
“I have learnt to never rely on words alone. Actions are what I need right now. These bastards killed my family! They tried to kill my dad and you want me to sit back and wait patiently? Kaden, our daughter will be born in a few short months. I want her born in safety. Not having
to look over my shoulder to check for the damn bogey man. So nonno call them.” She says,
her voice like steel.
“It has been done, bambina. They will all be here soon.” Chief says, and she nods her head
once and keeps her gaze on me.
“Good, Mayhem will be found and will be destroyed. It is time to join the forces of my family

and the clubs. I mean, ever little helps right?” She says, c*****g her head to the side.
This is not the Courtney I know. No, this is my Spitfire. All anger and molten lava, ready to
burn the world to reshape it to her will and image.
“Forces? What forces?” I ask, and she smirks at me. She lifts her chin higher and straights her
spine.
“The mafia will be joining our forces to bring them down. My momma was not only a club. princess, she was a princess of the mafia. While I have been here, I have been finding clues. The family tree being one of them. My family name isn’t Morrison, it never was. It is Gambino. We are the Cosa Nostra. We will destroy them. I am the heiress to the Gambino family.”
