Chapter 30.
Kaden POV.
The fire department, cops and ambulance arrived. The cage was put out, the cops are snooping round asking questions and Courtney is still unconscious. The paramedics checked her and our daughter and for the most part our daughter is fine, they told me the way Courtney landed she twisted to protect the baby and that Courtney will be fine when she wakes up.
Chief is raging and so is everyone else. Glad to know I’m not the only one. This is a
declaration of war. I don’t give a s**t right now about morals I will have Chloe and her mom
kidnapped to send a message.
I will take them both and make them pay for this. I look down at Courtney as the paramedics
get her secured to the stretcher. She is wearing an oxygen mask and neck brace. Her flawless
pale skin is covered with dirt, blood and ash. I haven’t left her side pleading with her to wake
up, but she never did.
My hand hasn’t left hers. People have been trying to talk to me, but I have blocked them out,
my only concern is Courtney and our daughter.
The paramedics lift the stretcher and I move to the ambulance with them.
“Sir, I’m sorry you will have to follow us to the hospital. We need to work on her in the back.” The paramedic tells me and I just glare at her and she glares right back.
“I understand, they will both be ok. We need to leave now.” She says and Havoc grasps my
shoulder and I nod my head as I’m pulled back. My fists clench as I watch them load Courtney
into the back.
“Go, we will be there soon.” Chief says and I nod as the doors to the ambulance are closed and the siren wails. I turn and stalk to my bike. Picking it up off the ground. s**t! I do a quick
check and it is only the paint that has been damaged.
I straddle my bike and start her up. I look at Havoc and he is on his, so is Storm. I know he is pissed so am I. Moreso than he is.
“Keep her safe Venom, or it will be your funeral.” Chief says and the cops just look at him not going against him. The cops are s**t scared of Chief and rightly so. I give him a nod and pull away from the compound as we follow the ambulance to the hospital.
My mind is reeling with the thought of losing both my girls. There is a traitor in the compound and I will find out who it is and make them pay. Chief also knows what happened I didn’t even

need to tell him, he just knew and I know whoever the f*****g moron is will pay dearly. This is
a blow to Chief to have a member of his crew turn against him and to try and take out the last members of his family.
The ride to the hospital is a blur as we pull up. I park the bike and climb off and walk inside the hospital. Havoc and Storm are trying to talk to me but my only concern is getting to Courtney.
I walk past the reception desk ignoring the call of the woman at the desk as I walk into the ER.
“Sir, you can’t be back here.” A nurse tells me and I just look at him and he straightens his spine. He is big but I know I can take him. Nothing and nobody is going to keep me from
Courtney.
“Man, just don’t. We are here to stand guard for one Courtney Morrison. She was just brought in.” Havoc says as I glare at the man who is stopping me from getting to my girls.
“She is currently being checked by the doctors and the OBGYN. Please once we have her and
the baby checked out I will come and get you.” He says when I step up to him and growl at
him.
“You won’t keep me from them. I am her partner and the baby is my daughter. So unless you
want to end up through that wall, you will let me past.” I say to him and he doesn’t even flinch.
The man has brass balls I will give him that.
“I understand sir, but the patient needs to be checked first. When they have completed the
checks I will come and get you.” I get ready to punch this fucker who is keeping me away from.

“Not happening man, get security if you wish or the cops. We are staying with her. There was
an attempt on her life. So unless you want to take us all on. I suggest you move.” He says and
I keep glaring at the fucker who is only doing his job, but still so am I.
I don’t wait for him to speak I shoulder barge him as I walk into the bay and see the doctors
working on Courtney. I move as close to her as I can. Keeping my eyes on her and
occasionally looking at each of the men and women working on her.
I look towards the door and see Storm and Havoc both guarding it with their arms folded over
their chests.
“How is she? How are they?” I ask and one of the doctors looks at me, he is older than the rest
and he straightens up and walks towards me.
“She is will live and so will the baby. Mind telling me what happened and who you are to the

patient.” He asks and I sigh running a hand through my hair.
“Her cage, I mean truck exploded. She was working on the truck and took it for a drive and
then it exploded. She managed to get out in time. Well that’s what I can assume, I wasn’t with
her when it happened but I was first on the scene. As for who I am, I am her partner, the baby
she is carrying is my daughter.” I tell him and his eyes soften as he nods in understanding.
“The life of the MC and mafia is a dangerous one.” My eyes widen at his words and he smirks
at me.
“Oh don’t look at me like that. I know who her grandpa is. He called me to check her over. I
have worked with Chief for a very long time. Patched him up more times than I can count. He is one old stubborn goat. Courtney and your baby will be ok. She has had a massive shock and fumes from the fire have knocked her out plus the blood loss and the injury to the back of
her head. Other than that both mom and baby will be fine.” He says to me and I sigh in relief.
“We will keep her here for a few days to make sure they are both ok. It’s routine. We will move her to a private ward. She will wake up in a few hours. She is lucky, anyone else would have died. Someone is watching over her.” He pats my shoulder as he gives his orders to the others
and then leaves with the OBGYN behind him.
Yeah that someone being her momma.
I move to the bed and take a good look at her, she is still covered in ash and still has the oxygen mask on her face. She looks so fragile, so small but still so beautiful.
I run my fingers through her hair as I lean down and kiss her forehead, leaving a lingering kiss
there.
“I love you, I will find how did this to you and I will make them pay. No one goes after my family. I promise you baby, I will take care of them. Wake up for me baby, let me see those beautiful angry eyes. Let me kiss away your fear. I’m not leaving you again Courtney, I need you.” I say the emotion clogging my throat.
I watch her for a few seconds before I sit down and take her hand in mine being careful of the cannula in the back of her hand. I lean forward and place my other hand on her belly my
thumb rubbing gently over where our daughter is.
Safe, warm and protected from this cruel life. Courtney fell in a way to protect our daughter. That just makes the love I have for her burst more. No more running away, no more fighting and giving her damn space. No I could have lost them both and if that is not the kick in the
ass I need then I don’t know what is.

Chapter 30.
The porter comes to take Courtney to the private ward and we follow behind her. As we enter
the ward it is a lot nicer than the ones in the ER.
It is nicely decorated, with home comforts. A flat screen TV a separate bed for family
members, recliner sofa, fridge and an ensuite bathroom.
The porter parks the bed and sets up all the equipment for her and leaves the room. Storm
and Havoc are in here too.
I sit back down next to Courtney, just watching her face hearing the steady beeping of the
monitor.
“Who would be so stupid to turn against Chief?” Storm asks and I shake my head. Because
that’s just it, I don’t know.
“Any word from Chief?” I ask not taking my eyes from her sleeping form.
“The cameras in the garage where out of order. So it would seem whoever it was knew how to tamper with the cameras. Oh and Wolf is on his way here. He arrived not long after we left. So
be prepared to deal with him.” Havoc tells me and I sigh nodding my head.
I forgot about Wolf. This is just getting more and more out of hand. I need Courtney to wake
up and soon. I can’t do this without her.
