Chapter 36.
Kaden POV.
It always amazes me how Courtney’s mind works. She sees things no one else does. The minute details, the plot holes everything. Hell, if she wasn’t a club and mafia princess she would make one hell of a detective. Move over Sherlock there is a new detective in town.
We are heading back to the compound. Courtney is in the back seat with me next to her. Wolf is driving. Havoc and Storm are on each side of the cage and Chief is in front leading the way.
I look at Courtney and her eyes are facing forward and once again she deep in thought about what is to come. I know she is thinking up all kinds of crazy scenarios in her brilliant little mind, no doubt the more outrageous the better.
Courtney is a force to be reckoned with. Long before she knew who she truly was. Even when we first started dating, she would always amaze me with her thoughts. Not just empty ones but deep, meaningful ones. She is crazy smart and if her momma was still alive, I would be thanking her.
Courtney would make a fabulous donna, or president if she chooses to be one or both. I know
she is worried that she is not ready. But she doesn’t see what we all do. The fact she thinks
outside of the box and is relatively calm yet strong in nature tells me she would be fabulous at
either position. But it is up to her if she wants to take it.
“You’re doing it again.” I say with a chuckle as I gently tug her bottom lip free from her teeth.
“Sorry, just lost in thought again. What if I’m wrong, what if Maxs attempt on my life was just that, a jealous attempt. But that begs more questions of why. Questions I don’t have the
answer to.” She says to me, and I nod listening to her thought process.
“You are thinking too much about it. I think that you know the answers but are waiting for
them to be confirmed before you act. What you are doing is how I know you would make a
great president or donna.” I tell her honestly and I look at Wolf who is nodding his head in
agreement.
“He’s not wrong princess. Venom is right. The way you think is special I know no matter what
you decide to do, you will do us all proud. Even if you walk away from the titles and focus on
your baby and partner. You will always have the full support of me and your grandpa, no
matter what you decide.” Wolf tells her and I smile nodding my head as I watch her, and she
blinks back the tears and nods her head. Turning her head away to watch the passing

scenery.
“Don’t stress about it right now. There is plenty of time to make your mind up. No one can pressure you to make that choice when you are not ready to make it. So just focus on doing what makes you happy, but most importantly what keeps you safe.” I say to her giving her thigh a gentle squeeze and she sighs turning to look at me.
I can see the conflict in her eyes. She doesn’t want any of this and that is ok. No one will force
her to choose, if they do then they will answer to me and my club and no doubt Wolf and hist
too.
We drive in silence and Courtney has a power nap, her head resting on my shoulder as the
road changes to the dirt path leading up to the road that leads to the compound gates.
The SUV jostles and wakes her up. She blinks those beautiful green–gold eyes and yawns
stretching as she looks around realising, we are back.
As we drive through the gate. Courtney’s eyes look at the scorched ground where her
Momma’s truck exploded, and I see the anger written on her face and the rage swimming
within her eyes. She is pissed and rightly so.
She turns her head forward and she looks fierce. The look on her face is cold and unyielding
as she scans the members who are waiting at the bottom of the mansion steps.
Wolf shuts the engine off and climbs out and moves to the back. I open my door and walk to
her side as Wolf opens the door and Courtney takes his hand. The other hand on her bump as
Wolf gently pulls her out of the back seat. Once Courtney is standing on the ground. I take her
hand in mine, and we walk towards the steps.
“Thank god, she is ok.” One of the ole ladies says, and the rest of the members agree and
murmur amongst themselves.
They move to the side as I walk with Courtney to the steps. I walk up and Courtney walks with me when we reach the top she stops and turns. I look at her as she looks at every member here. Before her head turns to where the truck exploded, and she balls her fist before turning
her head back once again.
Everyone is silent as they wait for her to say something. When she lifts her chin higher and the sneer on her face tells me she is more than pissed.
“Y’all know me and know who I am. One of our own tried to kill me, but make no mistake. Those that mean me or any of you harm will pay the price. I may not be a member of this club or the mafia. Well not officially, but I am not the one to f**k with. Let it be known here and now,

an attack on me or mine will be dealt with swiftly, painfully. So let our enemies f**k around and find out because they won’t like the outcome. We may be the Devil’s Warriors, but we are
the Gambino family. We will show them no mercy.” She says and I shiver at the chill in her
tone.
The members cheer and whistle as Courtney meets the eyes of her grandpa and dad. They are both standing there with their arms folded over their chests smirking and nodding their heads.
“Come on Rocky, lets get you inside and fed. Before you continue to rally the troops.” I say to
her, and she looks at me and I wink at her.
“Was that too much? I was feeling so angry seeing the charred ground and all I felt was the need for revenge.” She tells me and I chuckle as I lead her into the kitchen.
“No baby, you did great. No one can blame you for how you are feeling. So never apologise for
it.” I tell her and she sighs leaning on me.
After she has eaten and taken her pregnancy safe pain meds, I try to get her to rest but she is fidgeting in her seat. I look at her and she is looking at the picture of her mom on the wall.
“You need to rest Courtney.” I say to her, and she shakes her head.
“I know, I want to see Max. But I know you’re right, I need to rest and recharge before I see him. Do you know if Fabio has done what I suggested yet?” She asks me and I nod my head. Fabio has already collected the samples and had the test rushed we should have them by tomorrow.
“He has, but don’t worry about that. Come on let’s get you upstairs and into your bedroom.” I
say to her, and she nods her head. This is going to be a long week; I just know it is.
