Chapter 50.
Kaden POV.
I am raging, ready to burn the f*****g world to the damn ground to protect Courtney and our daughter. Grim has just delivered a staggering blow to Courtney, and I know she feels betrayed. But I will say this. She is handling it like a champ even though I know inside she is terrified of learning the truth.
“Wait, Chief said …”
“I don’t care what he said. After what Grim has told me, I can’t wait until Chief is back here, not
when I have the queen of the whores under the clubhouse. If you want to, you can come with me just to make sure I don’t do anything stupid, which right now is highly likely.” Courtney tells
me and I look at Wolf and he nods his head.
“I’m coming as well. It is about time I saw that b***h again. I may not like hurting women but in my eyes Michelle is not a woman she is a beast.” Wolf says and I sigh looking back at Courtney and her green–gold eyes sparkle with malice and I shiver as I know Wolf has that
same look in his eyes.
These two are dangerous. Courtney may look all sweetness and light, but deep down, she is anything but that. She is a spitfire, like a dragon that will burn her enemies to dust with no
remorse on her face.
“Let’s go.” Courtney turns and walks out of the door. I look at Wolf and he smirks at me as he
walks past with confident strides.
“We shouldn’t be encouraging this. You know that, right?” I say to him as he reaches the door.
“I know, but Courtney has suffered a lot recently, and she deserves the answers just like I do.” He says and follows his daughter. I pinch the bridge of my nose and shake my head. This is
going to end in tears, or blood.
I walk out and the clubhouse is a hive of activity as calls are made and rooms are getting set
for the rest of the club members and their families. The clubhouse has over a hundred
bedrooms, so Courtney is right, there is enough room for each family to share one room.

I follow behind Wolf and the members are talking to Courtney and, like a boss; she is coordinating with them, helping them get the clubhouse ready for the influx of people.
“Ok, I will need several of you to run to the store and get what we will need for the new members. Cookie, do you need anyone to help in the kitchen?” Courtney asks the chef Cookie,

and he shakes his head.
“No, pres, I have a great team. We can handle it. If I need anything, I will let you know,” Cookie says to her and I can see the respect in his eyes for my Spitfire and she nods once before she walks to the door that leads to the prison.
“Courtney, you don’t need to do this.” I say to her, and she looks at me with a soft smile on her
face.
“I know I don’t, but it needs doing.” She tells me as she opens the door and we walk side by side as we get closer to the door that Michelle is behind. I hold the handle and look at Courtney once more to make sure she wants to do this. She nods her head once and I open
the door.
Michelle is laying on the bed. Both legs straight. Her hands hanging at the side of her as she looks at the ceiling. Her gaze is distant. It is then that I notice something is wrong.
“Courtney, step out for a moment.” I say to her and I look at Wolf and he takes Courtney and tugs her back as I walk to Michelle.
There are red marks around her throat. Her chest is not moving. Her eyes are glazed and not
focused.
I check her pulse and I can’t feel anything. I step back.
“What is it?” Courtney asks and I jolt out of my thoughts and turn to look at her and Wolf.
“She is dead.” I tell them, and Courtney gasps, covering her mouth with her hands.
“No, it’s not possible. She was ok, she was alive.” Courtney says as she pushes into the room,
but I hold her back as she looks at Michelle and shakes her head.
“Chloe!” she says and darts out of the room towards where Chloe is. The door opens and
Chloe is on the floor, bleeding from her head. I rush inside the room and check Chloe over and
she is breathing.
“Wolf, get the doctor.” I call out as I check her over for any other injuries. I look at Courtney and
her fists have balled tight at her sides.
“Is she alive?” She asks, not taking her eyes from the woman bleeding from a head injury.
“Barely.” Courtney looks from Chloe to me and I can see the rage burning in those gorgeous
eyes. Is she mad at me?
“That’s good enough.” She says, and the doc comes into the room and begins his checks.

“Keep her alive.” Courtney says backing out of the room and I leave the cell to follow her out,
but she staggers and leans against the wall.
“Baby, I’m sorry, I didn’t…”
“Kaden, I’m not angry at you. Whoever the mole is was clearly trying to tie up loose ends.” She
says to me and I nod, knowing she is right. It has to be someone who had access to the prison, and there are only a few that are allowed down here.
“I need Richie to check the CCTV in each room and the corridor. Whoever came here was here
with the intention of killing them both, no doubt to keep them quiet.” She says and I nod.
“You’re right, come on. You don’t need to see this.” I tell her and she nods her head. I go to grab her, but my hands are covered in Chloe’s blood.
Wolf comes back, hanging up the phone.
“EMTS are on their way to take Chloe and Michelle away. Police as well. We need that footage. “I look at Courtney and she shakes her head.
“This is a huge f*****g mess. Ok, I want two members at the hospital stationed outside of Chloe’s room. I don’t want word of this to get out. In case whoever the mole is tries to finish the job.” Courtney says and I nod in agreement and so does Wolf.
“Who will you send to stand watch over her?” Wolf asks, and I can see the tick in his jaw as he
clenches his teeth together.
“Well, it won’t be either of you two. I need you both here. I can’t send Max. He needs to be told about his mom and sister. Even if he wants nothing to do with them, he was still their family.” Courtney says and I nod, that poor kid. Could anything else happen? Could we not get some
kind of peace even for a few days?
“Who will you send?” Wolf asks her, and she looks at him before she looks at me.
“I don’t know.” Is all she says and her voice is so small. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders and I can see it starting to take its toll on her.
“Leave it with me. I know these men, and they are all more than capable of watching over her while she is in the hospital.” I tell her and she sighs, nodding her head and turns to walk away just as the EMTs arrive in the prison.
“Go and rest, we will deal with this,” Wolf tells her before he hugs her and kisses her head. Courtney looks at me as she walks to me and I kiss her, not touching her with my bloody
hands.

“I will come and find you soon. Go and rest or go and find Richie and get him to pull up the
footage. You’ve got this Courtney.” I tell her and she nods her head and walks away. I sigh as I
look at Wolf, and he shakes his head.
“I don’t think the mole is here. Michelle has been dead for over twenty–four hours. Chloe is
lucky to be alive. I think the mole is on that run with Chief.” I tell Wolf as the doc explains to the EMTS as they deal with Chloe and get her stable before they leave with her on a stretcher.
The coroner is in with Michelle and, as I suspected, she was strangled to death. My gut is telling me it is someone close to us, someone we trust. But who?
