Chapter 51.
Courtney POV.
Why is this happening, and who is doing it? Whoever it is is working with Grim. But why? I’m getting ahead of myself and I need to see the footage.
I walk in the direction of where Richie’s office is. Because he is the tech guy, he has his own office. I can only assume for all the monitors, computers, servers, etc.
I walk through all the people here and smile at the members. The last thing I need to do is
incite panic that we have a killer among us. But I know one thing for sure: whoever it was is
trying to silence Chloe and Michelle. I can’t let word spread about this.
If Chloe survives, she may be able to help us, well if I know Chloe, that help will no doubt come
with a price and I know what price she will ask for. Kaden.
Well, she can dream on. I will not make that deal with her. I refuse to. Kaden is mine, and she
tried to destroy my relationship with him. I could always just give her the serum and see what
truth flies from her mouth. But I’m getting ahead of myself again. She may not survive.
I reach for the door to Richie’s office and knock before I enter the room. Jesus Christ. The heat
in here in stifling.
“Pres, is everything alright?” He looks shifty as he stands, and his eyes look behind me as I
enter the room and close the door.
“What’s wrong? You seem surprised to see me in here. Why is that?” I ask him and he shuffles
on his feet and fidgets with his fingers.
“Oh, it’s nothing, normally no one comes in here, sorry pres it is a bit of a mess in here, please
sit down.” He says and I look around and he isn’t wrong. There are cables everywhere. Cans of
energy drink on the desk and the sound of the servers and coolant systems are a low hum.
The room is dark, the only light coming from the monitors.
“Thank you Richie. I know I asked you to find the mole for me. I think more now than ever that
the mole is part of the club. What I am about to tell you does not leave this room. I don’t want
mass panic.” I say to him as I sit in the chair and he nods his head at me as he rolls towards
me on his chair.
For a computer geek, Richie looks more like a gym buff than anything. He has beautiful intricate tattoos on his arms, his black hair is shaved at the sides and longer on top. He is a
handsome man.

“Ok, tell me?” He says as he leans his elbows on his knees and joins his hands together. I watch him, every move, every breath. He isn’t the mole.
“Michelle was killed whilst in our custody and Chloe may not make it. I need the footage from the night before the run. I want the areas leading to the prison, inside the prison and, of course, the cells. Also, if there are any alternative exits and entrances into the prison.” I tell him and his eyes widen and his mouth opens, and he wheels away to the screen and types furiously on the keyboard. I move closer to him and watch what he is doing.
“What time frame?” He asks and I think.
“From when Michelle and Chloe were placed in the cells.” I say to him and he nods and I see
the women bringing brought in and placed in their cells. Then they are left. He fast forwards
the images.
We see only the higher ups taking food to them and leaving again. No one lingers. I watch the
time stamp and see a black blur.
“There, rewind it.” I say, and he does. The timestamp is back to normal, three am. I watch as a
tall, muscular man enters the prison, dressed head to toe in black. His face is covered, black
jeans, hoodie, balaclava, hat.
He enters Michelle’s cell first and Richie moves to the footage in her cell. The man and
Michelle talk for a while.
“Finally, when are you getting us out of here? Does Grim know we are here?” Michelle asks, and the man speaks.
“He knows, but I can’t get you out. They would be on to me if I did,” He says, but his voice is
muffled and I can’t make it out.
“How if I give you something my daughter can’t?” Michelle asks seductively as she moves closer to him, running her hand up his arm. The man flinches.
When Michelle tries to kiss him, but the man pushes her onto the cot and straddles her with his gloved hands around her throat. She fights. I watch as the life leaves her and he walks out
of the cell.
Richie turns the footage to the man walking into Chloe’s cell. Chloe seems happy to see him, but he is just out of the frame. She stands and walks to him.
“Bab, you finally came. God, I have missed you. I need to leave here and get back to daddy.” She whines in her childlike voice. To Chloe, it sounds pleasing to anyone else. It is like nails
on a chalkboard,

“Sorry doll, I can’t.” He speaks again when he lifts the balaclava and they share a passionate
kiss.
When he pulls out something from the pocket of the hoodie. It looks like a baton. He shoves
Chloe away. She falls facing away. He fixes his balaclava and hits Chloe with the baton across
the back of her head. He hits her three times. Before he walks away.
“I need a copy of all that surveillance, please. Where did he go after leaving the prison?” I ask
and Richie types away and I see the man walking away towards the back of the clubhouse,
opening the door and disappearing. Richie again switches the feed and I watch the dark figure walk towards the treeline and disappear.
Then nothing, just poof gone.
“That night, did anyone leave the clubhouse?” I ask and Richie splits the screen and we go
through more footage and no one left the clubhouse until the morning of the run.
So whoever this mole is just walked in and out being undetected? No, it is someone who
knows the layout of the clubhouse, the CCTV system, where the cameras are, and the
surrounding area.
“I’m sorry, pres, that’s all I have,” Richie says and I nod my head.
“It’s ok, we have more information now to go on.” I say to him and he looks at me like I’m
speaking in a different language.
“How?” He asks confused and I chuckle.
“He is clearly Chloe’s boyfriend, and I would bet he was the father of her unborn child. Michelle
tried to come on to him and he killed her. Chloe kissed him and he tried to kill her. As far as he
knows, both women are dead. But only one is. We have the upper hand now. Richie, do you
know how far back those woods go?” I ask and he looks at me and nods his head.
“Yeah, for at least an acre. Your grandpa owns all the land here.” Well s**t. I need to mobilise a
team to search those woods. I need Chloe to survive this. She knows who it was that tried to
kill her.
After all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
I thank Richie and leave his office and go in search of my dad and Kaden. I see Fabio, not too
far away and he smiles as he approaches me.
“Courtney, is everything ok?” He asks and I smile brightly at him.
“Everything is fine, Fabio. Did you get hold of the don’s?” I ask him and he eyes me curiously.

He nods his head.
“I did. They are taking the necessary precautions to secure their families and territories. What
are you going to do about Grim?” He asks and I watch him and looks at me confused.
“I don’t know yet. This is just one huge pile of shit.” I say to him with a sigh and he pats me on
the shoulder.
“Don’t worry, your grandpa has every bit of faith in you, as do we all. No matter what happens, Courtney, you are not alone in this.” He says, and I nod my head and walk away.
Grim wants me, sent a mole to us and had him kill his wife and try to kill his daughter. The
only one he hasn’t touched is Max. I need to keep an eye on Max for his own safety. I would
never forgive myself if anything happened to the kid. He is a good person. It’s not his fault his
parents are vile people.
So now I have to wait until Chloe is stabilised completely and is awake. I will have to speak to
her myself. Chloe plays a good game, but her games will not work on me. She can’t bat her
fake eyelashes and pout at me and expect me to cave to her every whim. I’m not a man, so
that s**t doesn’t work with me.
“Courtney, we have a problem.” I sigh as I turn to see my dad walking towards me. I smile to
show the members everything is fine.
“What now?” I whisper to him, and he looks at me. He takes my hand and leads me towards
the front door. Where I see Kaden and he is tense, his hands balled tight into fists at his side. I
walk around him and stop in my tracks.
A big white box with a pink bow. There is a note attached to the box. I walk towards it and lift
the note off the box and open it.
To my beautiful little dove,
I hope this is the right size for you. I can’t wait to see you in it.
Love from your man, Grim xx
