Chapter 54.
Kaden POV.
Watching Courtney take control of the conversation, I smirk. I knew some of the assholes here
would not like the idea of being ruled and protected by a woman. Seriously, I get it. It is a blow
to their pride. But Courtney is not just a random woman.
She is my woman and the heiress to the president and donna position. Even though she never
knew the truth of her family origins, she is taking to this like a duck to water. Then again, she
has Wolf’s DNA as well as her moms.
From what I remember of her mom, Caitlyn was like a tigress, protecting her cub. Caitlyn may
have pulled a gun on me but it wasn’t the gun I was scared of it was the look in her eyes that
made my gut clench. Fire, determination. The promise of overwhelming pain for hurting her
daughter.
Caitlyn was a dangerous woman, and I know Courtney is too. Courtney may not like conflict
and tries to stay out of drama, but she sure as s**t will be the one to end it.
When dinner was finished and everyone left the dining room, I could tell Courtney was battling
with something. I wasn’t the only one who noticed it. Wolf, Fabio, and Richie did too.
Maybe she is missing her grandpa. No, I am not that naïve. I know it was the call from the mole that has her deep in thought.
“Courtney, baby, I know something is wrong. Tell me what it is so I can try to fix it.” I say to her as I take her hand in mine and she sighs before looking at me.
“Dad, Kaden. Can we go for a walk, please?” She asks and I look at Wolf and he nods his head.
“Of course. Come on then, we can have an early night.” I say to her as I kiss her head and take
her hand in mine.
We walk around the outside of the clubhouse towards the back garden. I love it here, I always have. The pool, the gardens, the peaceful atmosphere when everyone is busy working or just lazing around.
“Courtney, I know you have something on your mind and I know you are warring with either keeping it to yourself or telling us. So whatever it is, just tell us. We can help with whatever it
is.” I say to her and she sighs loudly, looking up at the darkening sky.
“I think I know who the mole is,” she says, looking at both of us.

“Wait, you said you didn’t …”
“I know. I was thinking the fewer people who knew, the better. He doesn’t know I know it is him. He also thinks Chloe is dead. So we have that advantage. What I am about to tell you both, you have to both promise me that you will not reveal this to anyone. You will not fly off the handle and will work with me to take him down. Swear it or I will not tell you anything.” She says and I gulp nodding my head and I look at Wolf and he nods as well.
“You can trust us, you know this. Whoever it is, don’t be doing this alone. The last thing I want
is for you or our daughter to be hurt. So tell me, who is the mole and how are we going to flush
him out?” She looks at me, pain in her eyes. This is going to be hard for her.
“It’s Storm.” She drops that bomb and waits anxiously for it to detonate. But it just fizzles and
neither me nor Wolf move.
“Storm? As is my Sgt At Arms? that Storm?” Wolf asks and Courtney bites her bottom lip and she nods her head and Wolf sighs, raking a hand though his hair as he turns away from us. I know he is moments away from blowing up. But he pulls that rage in.
“Dad. It was him. When I answered the phone, he …”
“You don’t need to say anymore, Court. I had a gut feeling that it was someone higher up in my
club. He had been acting shifty for a while. So that means…”
“He was Chloe’s baby daddy. He is working with Grim and tried to get to me. He said he was the only one to stand between Grim and me. That he would see me soon. What are we going to do?” She asks and I look at her and hug her.
“We don’t show our hand. You’re right, he thinks he has the upper hand in this. But we know who he is and so does Chloe. We need to warn Chief that the mole is with him.” I tell Courtney,
and she shakes her head.
“No, if we do that. Grandpa is more hot headed than you two combined. He would definitely do something stupid. It can only be us three that know for now. Storm won’t do anything to grandpa not while he is with him surrounded by all the other clubs. It would be a death sentence for him if he did. So we keep this between us. We need a plan. We need to keep an eye on him at all times when he returns. Then, when the time is right, we strike.” She says, and I smirk at her. Pride filling my chest.
“I can help.” We all turn and see Max leading against the statue in the garden, and my eyes widen as he straightens up and walks towards us.
“What are you doing here?” Wolf asks, stepping in front of Courtney, and Max chuckles as he

looks at Wolf.
“I decided to go for a run to clear my head from the events of today. I was there when the EMTS brought Chloe out and then my mom.” I look at Courtney and she looks sad for him and I do, too. This kid didn’t ask for his family to be selfish, murderous assholes.
“I needed to run and happened to hear your conversation. Grim is my sperm donor, after all. He was willing to kill me and now I know that bastard Storm killed my mom and tried to kill my sister. Do you honestly think I won’t want to be part of this? Besides, the more eyes, the better and the better protection for Courtney.” Max continues and I look towards Wolf and he
is not giving anything away.
“Max, firstly I am sorry for what happened to your mom and sister. However, you are right. You said you didn’t know who else your dad planted here. So I take it you didn’t know it was Storm?” Courtney asks before she hugs him and Max shakes his head. before hugging her back. After a while, they pull apart and Max has tears in his eyes as he looks away to control
his emotions.
“No, I had no clue. But you saved me from death. Let me help you now. My dad has called your
bluff. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has others working for him. The thing about Grim is he has his spies everywhere. He pays them well, but if they have families, then he has leverage to get
what he wants. Now you have leverage over him. You know who his mole is and you have me.
I know everything about his operations, his warehouses, his runs, everything. I wouldn’t be
surprised if he wanted you to kill me. I was his heir, so I know more than most. But most of all,
Grim fears me.” Max says, and I think about what he is saying.
There is more than one mole that we know about. But Max is right. He knows everything there
is to know about Mayhem.
“Why does Grim fear you? His son?” Wolf asks and Courtney chuckles and I look at her like
she is having a moment of madness.
“You have your own contacts. With you being the heir, you wanted to make the club better. For
the legacy that Grim has carved to die with him. Isn’t that right?” Courtney asks him and Max
smiles at her and nods his head.
“Yeah, I do. I have been in touch with my contacts for a while and they will follow me into
battle. They want my dad out of power. He is a menace. He is a s**t father and an even shitter
leader. He uses fear to rule, but fear doesn’t get you respect. Those that fear you will never truly respect you. Respect is earned, not forced into submission.” Well, I’ll be damned. The kid
knows his s**t.

“Ok, tell us everything Max.” We have the advantage. Grim may not know that his wife is dead and his daughter is in a coma in the hospital. That his mole has gone rogue. So I wonder what
will happen when he learns the truth?
