Chapter 57.
Courtney POV.
Sitting here on my bed stunned, hearing his voice again, but I quickly shake that off.
“Grim, I should’ve known you would call me again and so soon. You see, men like you are really predictable. Sad really, that you don’t have one original thought in your head. Have you forgotten who it is I have in my hands right now? That you would dare provoke me like this?
Whatever it is you want, you can forget about it!” I snap at him, a murderous edge to my tone.
He chuckles at my feistiness. Well, he won’t be laughing and being a smug bastard for long. I
know where he is. I know who is working for him and where all his precious businesses are.
“Oh little dove, you see, that’s where you’re wrong. Your grandpa and his crew are not in any
danger. We are simply talking it out. Isn’t that right, Chief?” I freeze, looking at Kaden.
“Do you honestly take me for a fool? I’m insulted that you would think those lies would work
on me. I want to talk to my grandpa and now. Or did you forget how far the Gambino reach
really is? Hmm, what makes you think I don’t have eyes of my own on your location right now? What makes you think that I won’t give the command and in one fell swoop, everything you
have worked hard for goes up in flames?” I call his bluff, not truly showing my hand because
men like Grim think they are smart. He isn’t.
“You mean like that old fool, Benito? Please, he would never rat me out. So I know you’re
bluffing. I told you three days, you still have a day left. So how about this? I give you my word
no harm will come to your grandpa or his crew unless you comply. Oh, did you like the little
gift I sent to you? I think it would fit you perfectly. I’m hard just thinking about it.” He chuckles
and groans and I screw my face up. Just eww!
“Oh yes, thank you. I wore it for Kaden, we had some fun in it, actually. Even Kaden said you
had taste.” I say with a giggle when I hear Grim snarl and then a fist connecting with flesh,
followed by a groan. I tighten the grip on the phone.
“Your great granddaughter is far more feisty than you ever were, Chief. But no matter little
dove, I will buy you more and keep them here with me. Oh, how are my wife and daughter? Still alive?” He says, but not with a sneer. He has a tone of anxiety when he asked about his wife
and daughter. He doesn’t know his mole killed one and tried to kill the other. Oh, Storm, you
are in the s**t.
“Oh, they are being good little captives, not giving me any trouble at all. I think they are liking

their time away from you, if I’m being honest. Now, I want to speak to my grandpa or you will be dead by dawn. So how about it?” I say to him as I watch Kaden and he is texting on his phone, his fingers flying across the screen and I know he is coordinating with whoever his
contacts are.
Little does Grim know, we know everything. Karma did a good job. In an hour’s time, I will mobilise the crew and hit Grim’s biggest warehouse. Plus, I am meeting with Peter Ivanov and no doubt he will help me with this drama.
Gone are the days of just working on my designs, or car and help care for my dying momma. Now I’m in the middle of a damn war zone playing chicken with a madman.
“You are so funny and feisty. You, my dear little dove, will never find me. But as much as I love hearing your voice. I will let you speak to your grandpa. No funny business, little dove. I will know if you try anything. You wouldn’t want to be responsible for his death now would you?” He says in a sickly sweet voice, like he is trying to coax a child. But I am no child and I am not as stupid as he thinks I am.
“I would never dream of doing that. Put him on the phone, Grim. My patience has limits.” I snap at him and he chuckles. I hear some shuffling and then panting.
“Courtney.” I sigh with relief.
“Grandpa, are you ok? What happened?” I ask him, and he chuckles before he coughs.
“I’m ok Spitfire, We were ambushed, but I’m ok, we are all ok. Grim, being Grim, is acting like a
tough man. Don’t worry, sweetheart. We are ok.” He is a terrible liar. I can hear the pain in his
voice and it just makes me angry and nervous. God above all, these emotions can not be good
for my daughter.
“I have a plan, grandpa. I will get you out of there.” I say when he chuckles.
“You will do nothing, Courtney. You are pregnant. Time for your second lesson. Even though
you haven’t even begun to master the first.” He says with a chuckle and I feel a tear slide down my cheek.
“Go on, I’m listening.” I say, choking up when Kaden clicks his fingers, causing me to look at
him and he gives me one nod. I smirk, knowing he has mobilised the men and they will get to
Grim soon.
“Still learning lesson one,” He chuckles even though his breathing is a ragged.
“Lesson two, never underestimate your opponent. Always expect the unexpected.” I chuckle.

“I think you need re–training in lesson two, grandpa. You literally rode into a trap.” I say, and he
chuckles.
“True, but don’t make my mistake, Courtney. The beast from the east will come to the west. Ravenous for chaos and blood. For a deal struck broken by desire. Will be the downfall of the
one who is the manipulative liar.” He says, and my eyes widen.
“Grandpa I don’t, I don’t understand.” I do understand and I know who he is talking about. Grandpa knows who the mole is.
“You will. The beast will find you, Courtney, and when it does, don’t be afraid. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Then I hear the phone being taken away from my grandpa.
“How sweet, reading poetry to your great–granddaughter. Chief, that was beautiful. Maybe you
could recite more when I claim her as my bride.” Grim says with a sneer. I bite my tongue to
stop myself from spitting my version of venom at Grim.
“You have one day little dove, to make your mind up. The scales are tipping in my favour. I
think you will make the right choice. You will be mine. If not, then you will be the only one left
in the Gambino family. Goodbye beautiful little dove. I can’t want to have your answer.” The
line goes dead and I look at Kaden.
“You ok baby? I have sent some of my men to the location of Grim’s biggest warehouse. They
will arrive in an hour. They know what to do.” Kaden says and I nod my head before a sly smirk
spreads across my face.
“Yeah, I’m fine. They will be fine. Grim is a chickenshit. He won’t do a damn thing to my
grandpa or the men that went with him. Grim is all talk. He is an egotistical asshat. He
believes no one can touch him because he thinks he has hidden his assets well. He is wrong.
The beast from the east is coming. We need to prepare for his arrival.” I say, looking at Kaden
and he looks confused, then I see the moment he understands and nods his head with a
smile.
“What do you plan to do?” He asks, and I look back at the laptop and smirk.
“Is Don Benito still alive?” I ask, and Kaden furrows his eyebrows and nods his head.
“Yeah, Wolf put him and his men into custody. They are in a different location. Why?” I nod my
head and smirk.
“He will be coming with us when we meet with Peter Ivanov. Grandpa knew the Bratva would
come. The beast from the east will come to the west. Ravenous for chaos and blood. For a
deal struck broken by desire. Will be the downfall for the one who is a manipulative liar,”
