Chapter 71.
Courtney POV.
So now we have to deal with the associates of Grim. The only problem is I don’t have a f*****g blues clue as to who they are. Ok I may have disturbed the hornet’s nest by stealing all their s**t, but who the hell cares? Because I sure as s**t don’t.
Again, another part of the secret plan I wasn’t informed about. But, oh well. It just means that we have to act and fast.
These associates are business people and all they think about is money and reputation and I have destroyed both in a targeted attack. I know my grandpa must have had a contingency plan in case the plan went sideways, so if I want to be a right royal b***h, he can deal with it. Serves him right for not informing me of what was to happen.
I mean, come on. I am still new to all of this. Even if I was the one who took Grim down in a
matter of hours. Grandpa and the brain trust should have told me what was going on before leaving me, a highly hormonal ticking time bomb in charge. So that my friends is on them.
“So, what happens now?” Kaden asks and I know he is just as pissed off as I am. Who can blame him? If anything, our anger at them three is warranted. Can’t blame us.
“Well now, we can either wait for them to come to us, or I contact them directly and let them
know that we have their merchandise and that if they want to run it through this part of the
country, then they have to go through us.” Grandpa says and I sit back and listen.
“Or, if they don’t, then what we have will be destroyed and we fight.” Wolf says and I scoff, well that’s a stupid f*****g plan.
“Why destroy it? I’m sure y’all have your own customers? Why not convince them that we can
get them a better price from what Grim was offering? That way, you have more s**t to get rid
of and I’m sure it would be easy to find new buyers. You can’t tell me that no one in the criminal world won’t buy what we now have?” God, I sound like a real dodgy person. But I
know this is what my family was built on: blood, guns, drugs, and others suffering.
I hate it, I really do. But unfortunately, it is my blood, no matter which way you look at it.
“Or better yet, ask Ivanov. I know he has an alliance with us already, but offer him more and let
him take them off our hands. I’m sure he has a way to get what he needs from here to Russia.
OR what about the old families from Italy? Even the Irish, or maybe the Greek. We have it all.
Grim was stock piling it all. He was preparing for war. Then we offer a better deal to his

associates and we make more profit.” I say and they all look at me like I have just spoke in an ancient foreign language.
“What? Why are y’all looking at me like that? I thought it was a good idea. Far better than destroying it all.” I say with a huff and look away like a spoilt, petulant child.
“It is a good idea, sweetheart. But most of the families have their own supply. But maybe
Ivanov can help with this. The drugs are easy to get rid of. The guns not so much.” Grandpa
says and I sigh.
“Look, I have no idea what to suggest. You have been doing this for a long time, so I’m sure
you have contacts. So maybe you can contact them and see if they can help. What is the point
of being the biggest and baddest when you can’t even shift stuff?” I ask, and my grandpa just
smirks at me and winks. Why the sly old dog?
“You already know what you are going to do, don’t you?” I say to him and he chuckles.
“Of course I do. As we sit here talking logistics, I already have people on their way to collect
and distribute. I just wanted to see what you would suggest. You are your mother’s daughter.”
He says and I blush and bite the inside of my cheek when Kaden places his hand on my thigh
and gives me a squeeze.
“You’re so clever, baby.” I roll my eyes, not that clever clearly. But whatever.
“What are we going to do with Grim and Chloe?” Max asks, and we all look at him. I know this
is hard for him. His father and sister will no doubt face death. But it has to be done.
“Well, Chloe was already part of the deal with Ivanov. As for Grim, well, I’m going to leave his
fate up to Courtney.” Grandpa says and I look at him.
“Why me? Besides, I’m not done talking to Grim. You see, he has told me something very
interesting while you were away.” I say to my grandpa and they all stiffen apart from Storm
and my grandpa. Who both look confused. Oh, they didn’t know about the conversation. Well, I
know Storm was in on it. I don’t trust Storm as far as I could spit. But Grandpa does, which I
think is a really bad judge of character.
“Oh, and what was that?” My grandpa asks, leaning back in his chair, folding his arms over his
chest.
“That you are the reason our family was killed.” I say to him and he looks pissed. That vein in
his forehead is throbbing, and he looks ready to blow up.
“Did he now? What did he say exactly?” He asks, his voice like a growl, but I won’t back down.
I need to know the truth.

“That you were the one who pulled out of the marriage arrangement with my momma. Not her dad, but you. That if you hadn’t had done that. Then they would all still be alive and momma
wouldn’t have run away.” I tell him the truth and he stands up. The chair falling behind him, his hands balled into fists as he places them on top of the table. He is trying to look intimidating, but he doesn’t scare me.
I stand and match his posture, his intimidation display, similar to a gorilla beating its chest.
Show no fear.
“He had no right!” And there it is.
“You caused this. All you had to do was not interfere, and you did. You got them all killed.
Why? And don’t tell me because he is unhinged. Because that came after you broke the arrangement.” I snap at him. If I were an animal, I would be baring my teeth and snarling at
him.
“You have no right to lecture me, Courtney. If it wasn’t for me, you would have ended up like Chloe. A f*****g pawn to be used in a game.” I scoff before I laugh.
“Oh please, you know you are talking utter s**t. Because for the past week, that is what I have been. A f*****g pawn in your game. So it’s true you broke an arrangement and in doing so got your wife, your daughter, son–in–law, and grandson killed! You caused my mom to flee, constantly looking over her shoulder and what have you done for twenty years? You could have taken care of grim then, but you didn’t. So tell me who is playing games? Because as far as I can see, it is you.” I spit at him and he blinks before he turns and punches the wall.
I jump slightly, and my heart is racing. Bean kicks and I gasp, a mild shooting pain flashes across my stomach. I clutch my belly and groan, doubling over.
“Courtney!” Kaden grabs me before I fall. I clutch Kaden as the pain subsides, but it bloody
hurts. It took my breath away.
…
“Sweetheart, I’m sorry I didn’t mean Fabio, get the doctor, now!” Grandpa shouts, but everything sounds like I’m underwater and my vision blurs before I black out.
