Chapter 74.

Kaden POV.

I never thought Courtney would agree so quickly to the bed rest and she still amazes me. It has been a week and the furthest she has gone is the bathroom. I know she has been working from bed and even though I didn’t want to leave her. I had to.

Even though I am working downstairs and helping with the plan. I can’t help but smile to

myself that in a few short weeks, our baby girl is going to be here and causing chaos.

I know Courtney has been ordering things for our daughter. She sends me links and pictures

all the time and I do the same. She is going to be an amazing mother. I know Chief and wolf

have been wanting to see her, but I won’t let them. Don’t they get it? She needs no stress and

both of them stress her out.

Even Storm has been trying to brown nose, but I don’t f*****g trust him, and I certainly don’t

trust him around Courtney. He made it clear a while ago that he was interested in her and I

will say this. He ever goes near her again. I will kill him. No one touches what is mine.

“How is she doing?” Wolf asks me and I look up from my phone at him and I know he feels

bad, but when is he going to put his daughter first? Does he not realise he could have killed our daughter when he pulled that s**t when he kidnapped her with Storm? He may think he was doing what was right, but there would have been a better way to do it.

“Fine, resting. What she should have been doing all along.” I tell him and he nods his head and sits down on the sofa opposite me and I smile as Courtney sends me another picture of a

crib.

“I know, since she came back, I have really f****d everything up. I know I should have been there for her from the beginning. But you don’t know how hard I searched, how much every time I went looking and thought I saw Caitlyn that when I realised it wasn’t her, how my heart broke again and again. All I want to do is be there for her. She only ever had her momma. Now she doesn’t have her and I don’t have my daughter. That is on me. All of this that Courtney has

been through is on me.” He tells me and I nod in agreement.

“Yeah, it is, but it’s not just you. It’s all of us. We all should have been there for her, but we are here now. Look, let her get better before you go to her. I’m sure you don’t want her being under anymore stress. I’m sure you want to see your granddaughter alive and healthy? Because let’s face it, that won’t happen if she stays under stress.” I tell him and he nods in agreement.

Chapter 74.

“Yeah, you’re right. The less stress, the better for her. Thanks Venom, for listening and for being the man I couldn’t be.” He tells me and I smile and just nod my head at him.

“Anyway, I hope she and you won’t mind, but I have bought some things for bean. I want a relationship with them both. But when she is ready. I won’t push her for that. I know she has

been through enough s**t. Without me adding to it, even though that seems all I have been doing since she came back into my life.” He tells me and I do feel for him, hell I was the same. I caused her heartache as well. But I am fortunate that she has forgiven me. I know it will take a long time for Courtney to forgive her father and to make amends with him. Especially when

she never knew who he was to her in the first place.

Twenty years is a very long time to grow up without your father. Then everything she has

known was tragically ripped away from her and then being thrust into a life she had no idea

she was a part of.

That alone would mess with anyone’s head and so far I would say she has handled it pretty damn well. I know she still has a long way to go. But as long as no more surprises come out

of the woodwork, I know she will be just fine.

“Wolf, I know this is difficult for you, too. I know Courtney just needs time. Don’t forget, she

thought for twenty years that she didn’t have a family. Now she has one. A bigass, crazy

family and all the responsibility that goes with it. She will come around. I will talk to her in a

few weeks about this. Our focus in regard to Courtney is that she and our daughter are safe

and happy. She needs to see that you are willing to respect her wishes. Her boundaries, but to

also know you are there when she needs you most. Don’t f**k this up, Hunter. You may not see

it now, but that woman needs her daddy. You and Chief are all she has left of her mother. Don’t

f**k it up.” I say to him and he wipes her cheek and looks away.

“I promise I will be here when she needs me. No matter how long that takes. She is my

daughter and I love her with all my heart.” He says. I chuckle as I stand, and so does he. I hug him and he hugs me back.

“I know you won’t hurt you, Venom. You are a good guy. Now we better go and find Chief to see

what the next phase is. I swear as soon as all of this is over, I’m taking a damn vacation.” Wolf

says with a chuckle, and I chuckle as well. Yeah, a vacation sounds nice.

“Come on, we can talk sandy beaches and beer later on. We better go and find Chief before he

comes looking for us,” Wolf says, slinging his arm over my shoulder as we head towards the

office.

Fabio is looking pale and so is Richie. What is going on?

“I take it he is in there?” I ask and they both look at each other and gulp before nodding their heads and turning to face us.

“What is it?” Wolf asks, and I know something is off. They would never be out here unless

there was someone who was not supposed to be here inside with Chief.

“One of you better tell us what is going on?” I say through gritted teeth. They both go to speak, making a whimpering sound when the door to the office opens.

Chief comes staggering out, like he is about to drop, and I stand there trying to see around

him at who is in the office.

“Chief, what is going on? Are you ok?” I ask as I grab him before he falls to his knees. I look at

wolf and we are both beside him.

“Chief, what is it?” Wolf asks and Chief looks up at us, breathing hard. Tears streaming down

his face.

We all turn to see who it is.

A woman dressed in full black tactical gear, with guns strapped to her thighs. Her face is

fuller, healthier. Her eyes sparkling blue, and her red curly hair hanging loosely down her

shoulder. She pops her hip to the left and folds her arms over her chest with a smug smile on

her face.

My jaw drops and my eyes bulge and I fall on my ass. I look at Wolf and he looks like he is

about to pass out.

“Hello Hunter. Long time no see.”
