Chapter 88.
Courtney POV.
Sitting on Kaden’s lap in my house with Katya opposite us. This feels surreal. He is here and I think the motorbike I heard yesterday was his. For the first time since I ran away, I feel completely at peace and I know why.
Kaden is my peace, Kaden is my home. I was stupid, scared, selfish to run from him. Yes, he knew the truth about my momma, but he didn’t hang around once he learned the truth about
her.
“This is a beautiful home, baby. I can’t believe I rode past here and didn’t think to look. The
people in town really do protect their own. Nobody said anything that you were here, even
when I asked.” Kaden says as he tightens his hold on me. His hands on my belly as bean
kicks and squirms under his hands.
“Yes, baby, I missed you too. Both of you.” He continues to say, and I lean back against him.
I’ve needed this. As much as I know the reason why I ran.
I know Kaden loves me and isn’t just with me for the sake of our daughter. I was in my own
pity party, but no more. He is here, and he hasn’t stopped looking for me. For us.
“So Katya has told you everything?” He asks behind me before he kisses my shoulder and I
nod my head.
“Yeah, she told me everything. Katya also has given me a choice.” I say and I look at Katya
and she sits with her ankles crossed, knees together and skirt completely crease free. Sipping
her cup of tea. For a cold–blooded killer, she is elegant, kind of like royalty. I suppose she is.
“What choice did you give my woman?” Kaden asks her and Katya places her cup down gently
and raises her gaze at Kaden.
“The choice to change her path. We join our empires. You know my feelings of the patriarchy,
Venom. That has not changed. It is up to Courtney to decide what she wants to do. I don’t
know how much you know since you went nomad, so do you remember my proposal the day I
killed papa?” She asks Kaden and I sit there not too sure what she is talking about. We haven’t
discussed this.
“What proposal?” I have to chime in because clearly if I’m going to join the Cosa Nostra with
her Bratva, then I need to know everything and I mean everything. I will technically be getting into bed with this woman and, for that to work, I need complete transparency.

“Yeah, a remember. The proposal was that half of everything you took from Grim when you attacked the warehouses was to go to Katya, and in the future, you will get to trade with her. Guns, ammo, drugs. Then you both have the free rein between here and Russia. For six million
dollars. That is what Katya was going to pay for half of everything.” He tells me and I look at
Katya and she nods once. Six million!
“Well, that proposal didn’t happen and do you want to know why?” she says and I look down at my lap and chuckle.
“Because you are a usurper and a woman, to boot. Grandpa was not willing to do business
because he said he had his own contacts. But the problem with that is. He can’t sell any of
that s**t, because he wasn’t the one who obtained it. So in a childish kind of way. It’s finders
keepers. Or maybe, just maybe, he is cutting off his nose to spite his face.” I say and Katya
smiles and Kaden chuckles behind me.
“Exactly. Your grandfather is set in his ways, and his ways are stagnant. He could have taken
Grim out sooner and didn’t. Why do you think that is?” Katya asks, and I smirk.
“Because he was waiting for someone else to do his dirty work.” I say, and Kaden stiffens
behind me.
“You think he was setting you up?” Kaden asks and I nod my head.
“I do. According to Storm, he knew where me and my momma were, but he never told my dad.
But we know now that Storm was working for my grandpa. What’s to say that my grandpa
didn’t know the whole time and decided to not do a damn thing? Think about it. Without me or
my momma, he wouldn’t need to hand over the title.” I say and Katya smirks at me. See, she
figured it out.
“Then why leave you in charge?” Kaden asks and I turn my head to look at him before I shift in
his hold, so I’m looking right at him.
“One to see what I would do and two and I hate to even think this, but to set me up. He told me
about the beast from the east. He had already set everything up. Grandpa is the one behind it
all. He just plays his role very convincingly. Think about it. He has the Cosa Nostra, the MC.
He has it all, He holds the power. What better way to keep a tight grip on that than setting up the only living heir at the time knowing who I am and what I am capable of? My presence throws everything up in the air. I am willing to bet that he was hoping that someone would finish the job. I mean, come on, Katya has already told me about the phone call after Chloe escaped. All he was interested in was if Ivanov was dead.” I make my point and the look on
Kaden’s face says it all. The pieces are falling into place.

“Plus, whoever Ivanov’s mole was, my grandpa would have known. I think that is the real reason my momma faked her death and came back. I think she knows exactly what my grandpa is capable of. Now, with her being alive and back, he is going to be worrying. He knew what he was doing when he broke that marriage arrangement. He was also the one who sent Michelle and her family off to another state, resulting in her family’s death. Everything that happened in the last twenty years has been because of him. He will never give up the Cosa Nostra, or the MC.” I say my thoughts out loud and Katya chuckles and Kaden looks ready to destroy the world.
“I knew you were clever, Courtney. The thing is, you can’t take him on on your own. You need help to do this. So today is your lucky day. I’m offering that help. But we can’t do anything
while you are this close to your due date. So we wait, I will get word to your mother. I will call in her marker.” Katya says. I know of the relationship between my momma and Katya. So for Katya to use that marker tells me this is going to get ugly.
“My club will be behind you every step of the way. I know Fabio, Richie, Max, your father, and his Mc will be behind you, too. So we need to find Chloe and take your grandpa out.” Kaden says and I nod my head.
“Grandpa had his daughter, wife, grandson, and son–in–law killed. Momma would have been
too if she didn’t run. Grandpa set it all up. He doesn’t want to share or give up what he thinks is his. Grim was just another pawn in all of this. What is the betting that Grim did what he did not just because my grandpa breaking that contract but because of another deal that went
***s up? What if my grandpa set him up, too? But being the snake Grim was, he managed to escape and so the feud began. Again, only a theory.” I say with a shrug of my shoulders.
I have always known power is taken and never truly given. I’m going to need everyone to make this happen. I need to get a message to my momma. She, like the rest of them, are in danger.
