Chapter 90.
Courtney POV.
I need to get the dons and the other clubs under my grandpa on side with me. I understand the dynamic of power. I know some of the dons and the other clubs are scared of my grandpa and for a damn good reason. He is ruthless, unforgiving. The thing is ruling with fear is not power, the true power comes from not being afraid of a bully, a tyrant. That is what my grandpa is.
He has so much blood on his hands, even the blood of our family. All so he could hold on to
that power. Well, not for long.
Things will change, and once the dons and other clubs see that, they will challenge him. But really, it is the change we all desperately need. I didn’t know how big the Bratva or the Cosa
Nostra truly was.
Katya wasted no time in calling in my momma’s marker and notifying the dons that the new pakhan of the Bratva wants a sit down in a neutral location. This quiet town will soon be over–run with mafia men and bikers, but it will be only for a short time while we call on them to remove my grandpa from his seat.
I do agree with Katya. It is time for a shakeup, a change in leadership. Some of the dons won’t be too pleased with a woman at the helm, but tough s**t. Women can be more ruthless than men. We just hide it better. Is that narcissism? Probably, but right now, we need to get as many of them on side as possible.
“So, this is what will happen. We will not do what the men would do.” Katya says, and I look at her. The man that was at my back door last night was busy in the kitchen making snacks and drinks. Kaden went with him, not trusting the man to not poison us. Katya smirked when Kaden said this. She told him if she wanted him dead, he would be. No argument there.
“What would the men do?” I ask her just as the man I now know as Sergi enters with Kaden behind him carrying drinks while Sergi carries the snacks.
“The men would kidnap the dons prized possession, usually a daughter or wife. They would torture her, send the video to the don they are trying to dominate and use that as an opportunity to get what they want.” I hide the chuckle because I did the same thing with Chloe, but she wasn’t hurt. I should have killed her when I had the chance and she wouldn’t be hiding somewhere, planning and plotting my demise.
“Look, we are trying not to be like your father and her grandpa. No hitting them where it hurts.

If you do that, then you are no better than the men. You need a different approach.” Sergi says
and I think when it comes to me.
“We need to appeal to the wives and daughters. As you said, the women in the dons and president’s lives are their most prized possession. If we can get the women on side. Then they will do what all women are amazing at.” I say and Katya smiles and nods once.
“What is it that all women are amazing at?” Kaden asks and I look at him.
“Nagging, giving you men a major headache, sulking, pouting, and with–holding s*x. That last one may not work on all of them, but I am willing to bet these men dote on their daughters and wives. So if the daughters and wives are upset, the men will do everything they can to make it right. After all, no daddy or husband can bear to see their little girl and wife upset.” I say with a pout and making my eyes as big as possible and Kaden rushes to comfort me.
“See, point made.” I say, and Kaden growls at me before he kisses my neck and bites my
shoulder.
“Evil.” He mumbles and I chuckle.
“So we use the women and basically let them throw major tantrums, making their men’s lives hell. This is the women’s movement. The men will become so distraught they will do anything and everything to make their women happy.” I say, feeling smug, and Katya is chuckling.
“Ok, what if that doesn’t work?” Kaden asks and I look at Katya and she looks at him.
“Then we destroy their lives and reputations. It is a dirty move, but we want to do this without bloodshed. But if we have to, we will. These men like to think they are in power, but they aren’t. The true power comes from the women around them. These women are their weakness but we know different.” Katya says when my doorbell rings and I look towards the door when Sergi
and Kaden both stand.
Sergi pulls out his gun and walks to the door as Kaden stands in front of me, ready for what
could happen.
Sergi looks at me and I nod my head as he opens the door with his gun raised.
“Courtney!” I look out from around Kaden and see my momma, dad, and everyone else apart from my grandpa and some faces I have never seen before.
“Hi.” I say, well, this is awkward. I know I have to put my feelings on the back burner for the
time being and concentrate on the issue at hand, and I can’t do that when there is animosity
between us all.

My dad moves forward and hugs me and I hesitate, not taking my eyes off my momma, who
stands by the window in the living room. She is just watching me. She nods once and I sigh,
knowing this is going to be no walk in the park. I don’t think I am ready to forgive any of them just yet. But we need to stop grandpa from his reign of tyranny.
So if that means making a deal with the devil, then so be it. Who knows, maybe in some kind of twisted way this could be like family bonding. I snort on a laugh as I think about that. When
dad pulls back and looks at me with worry.
“Never run away again, you hear me, young lady? You could have been hurt. Especially in your condition. I’m happy you are both ok, but please Courtney no more. I’m sorry I lied to you. I’m sorry we never told you sooner. We were trying to protect you, don’t you see that?” ok now I’m
pissed.
“Can’t you see I don’t need protecting? I am more than capable of looking after myself and my daughter. You weren’t protecting me, you were protecting yourself. So cut the s**t, dad. I’m not ready to forgive or forget. We have a job to do. But I need to know something first.” I say as I step back towards Kaden and he places his hand on the small of my back and I relax.
“What do you need to know?” I look from my dad to my momma as she stands leaning against the windowsill with her arms folded over her chest. Like this is beneath her, like she is bored. But I know her. She is guarding herself. She is afraid of what I will say.
I narrow my eyes at her before I look at each person here and then look back at my dad as Katya comes to stand beside me. Every eye in the room is now watching us.
I look at my momma, and she is smirking before she schools her facial expression.
“That from this moment on, each and everyone of you in here pledge your allegiance to me and Katya. We will be uniting the Cosa Nostra with the Bratva. All the clubs will be under our rule. It is time for a change.” I say and all I can hear is crickets.
Kaden is the first to say aye. The Richie, Fabio, then the rest. My momma is smiling and nodding her head with pride etched on her face. I look at my dad and he looks at me.
“Is this what you want? To be just like Chief?” He says and I shake my head at him with a
sigh.
“I will never be like him. You will still have your club, but instead of answering to Chief and his whims. You will answer to us. No more lies, no more deceit. We join forces and we become one. Then we take Chief from his seat of power.” I say to him and he is looking in to the eyes we both share. He is studying mine and I am studying him.

“Hunter, stop playing around.” My momma says as she moves forward. The men in the room make a path for her. When she comes to my other side and looks at me and I look at her and
she winks.
“We do this together. I know I have a lot to prove to you, but make no mistake, piccolo
angelo.
I will have your back if you will let me.” My momma says and I look at Katya and she nods her
head.
“You are the heiress to both families, momma. As much as I don’t want to admit this, we do need you. But if you f**k me over, I won’t miss next time.”
