Courtney POV.

I’m trying to make sense of what I think I saw. But my gut is churning, and I know she is here,

lurking somewhere in the hospital.

“Sweetheart, what is it?” My momma asks me and I look at her and shake my head as my dad

holds Amelia for the first time and Kaden is watching over her like an over protective dad I

know he will be. Both men are smiling and cooing at her, not paying attention to me and

momma.

“Parla con me.” (Talk to me.) She says and I sigh and look at her, but my eyes hone in on the guns. I gulp as I look back at her. I need to tell her.

“Pensavo di averla vista.” (I thought I saw her.) I whisper and my momma looks at me, her

eyes blazing. She steps closer to me and sits on the bed with her back to the men.

“Dove?” (Where?) she asks and I dart my eyes to the door and she follows my line of sight.”

Nella sala?” (In the hall?) she asks and I nod my head once. She removes one of her guns and

pushes it under my pillow.

She takes out her phone and makes a call, walking to the bathroom. I can hear what she is

saying.

“Controlla la CCTV, lei é qui.” (Check the CCTV, she is here.) Then she returns and smiles at me like nothing has happened. She winks at me and walks to take Amelia from my dad and

walks back to me with her.

“Tienila vicina.” (Keep her close.) She says, handing me my daughter before she kisses my

head and then Amelia’s and leaves the room.

“What’s going on?” Kaden asks and I smile at him.

“Nothing. Momma is going to speak to her people and get some coffee. I’m exhausted. When

can I go home?” I ask and divert the attention from my momma.

“Tomorrow, the doctor said they need to monitor you both because of the drugs used in the drip. They will come in later on and take Amelia to do some tests. You need to rest. I will stay

here.” Kaden says and I nod my head.

After a while, I fed Amelia again and change her diaper. She is really sleepy, it could be

because of the drugs they used and a small amount entered her blood. Momma returned and

shook her head and my heart sunk.

“Y’all can go home, get some rest. We will be fine.” I say and Kaden refuses and so it is best he

is here.

“We have men stationed outside the hospital and the back is covered. No one will get to you

or her.” My momma says they think it is in case of Chief, but it is because of both him and

Chloe.

Kaden looks at me before he kisses my head as I hold on to Amelia.

“I’m going to get something to eat. I will be back shortly. I love you. Rest.” He says before he walks out of the room and I finally breathe a breath of relief.

I’m watching Amelia as she sleeps in my arms and I smile down at her. Lifting her so I can gently kiss her cheek.

“I love you bean. I won’t let anything happen to you.” I say, running my nose across her smooth skin and lean back, looking at the ceiling. The door opens and I look at who it is.

Chloe. I reach for the gun under my pillow.

“Don’t even think about it. Come with me now,” she says, and she is deranged. She is not the

polished woman she once was.

She looks rough and has lost her mind. I do as I’m told and move off the bed and go to place

Amelia down.

“No, bring it with you. We have unfinished business. Don’t try anything Courtney.” She says

with a sneer and her eyes are wild.

f**k! I nod my head as I stand and move slowly. She shoves me in the back and I move looking around for someone so I can get help. But the ward is quiet. Chloe pushes me again, the gun in my ribs as she links her arm with mine.

“Keep moving.” She whispers in my ear and I grit my teeth. I look at the camera in the corner

and mouth help me praying someone sees it.

She ushers me towards a door and pushes it open with her foot. Once I’m inside, she lets my

arm go and points the gun at me. Her hand shakes.

“Up the stairs Courtney.” She says, and I nod my head.

“It may take me some time,” I say, trying to give myself more time. She rolls her eyes and

grabs me again and forces me up the stairs. Amelia is asleep and is none the wiser to what is

going on.

Chapter 95.

We reach the top of the stairs. “Open the door.” She snarls out, and I can tell she is starting to

panic. I open the door and see we are on the roof. f**k!

“Walk, now.” She snaps and I walk, tightening my grip on Amelia. I stop walking as she walks

past me and walks to the ledge. She looks over it and then looks at me.

“Why are you doing this, Chloe?” I ask her, and I need to get to talk, hoping she makes a

mistake. So I can act.

“You destroyed my life, Courtney. You had to come back and have everyone eating out of the

palm of your hand. While I lost everything all because of you and that.” She points at Amelia

and I growl at her.

“But no matter, after tonight you will both be gone and I can get back what was stolen from

me,” she says as she paces. I watch her. I quickly look around the roof and it is open, nowhere

to hide or to place my daughter so I can fight.

“Who told you I was here?” I ask her, and she stops and looks back at me with a deranged

smile on her face.

“Chief did. He has been watching you.” My heart slams to a stop as I look at the mocking

smile on her face and her dead eyes light up. I notice the track marks on her arms. Her once

glowing skin is deathly pale. She is skin and bone.

“What did he promise you, Chloe? Did he promise you his empire? You are so f*****g gullible.

Serious daddy issues. Chief would never give you anything, apart from a bullet with your name

on it.” I say to her and I smirk at her.

“He wouldn’t do that to me.” She is so f*****g delusional. I chuckle, shaking my head at her.

“You will die here and so will that. Chief will give me a huge reward.” She laughs as she gets

closer to me, but I dodge her movements.

With Amelia in one arm, I grab Chloe with the other hand. I grip her wrist and shove her back, and she staggers backwards. She drops the gun and I make a run for the door. I didn’t get far.

She fires the gun, and the bullet grazes my arm and I scream as I drop to my knees. Amelia is screaming in my arms. I look down when the hot barrel of the gun is pressed to the back of my head and I smile down at my daughter.

“I’m so sorry, little one.” When I hear a shot ring out and wait for the darkness but it doesn’t

come. Chloe screams and the gun drops next to me. I pick it up and turn my body, clutching a screaming Amelia to my chest and fire the gun, emptying the clip into her as she staggers

back and falls backwards over the ledge of the roof.

Chapter 95.

Relief washes over me as I look up and see Kaden running towards me. I reach for him as he

drops to his knees and I sob as he holds me. The rest of the club arrives and a doctor. The

doctor is checking us both over. I’m numb to it all.

Chief did this. He sent that deranged junky b***h to kill me and my daughter. I’ll enjoy killing

him.

“I’ve got you both,” Kaden says before he kisses me. I could have died tonight, all because of my grandpa. Oh, he has seriously f****d up. This needs to end now. I will go back to him and I will kill him myself. No one f***s with my baby and gets away with it.
