Michael didn’t even look at me.
The moment I got out of the car, he stepped on the gas and sped away, disappearing in an
instant.
It could be seen that he was really worried about Harper.
He had never taken me seriously.
I looked around and found it was so dark now that I couldn’t even get a taxi.
It was so cold that I wrapped my arms around myself, hoping that I could dispel the coldness in this way.
The five–year marriage between us was like a big joke at this moment.
I walked along this dark road, hoping to get a taxi.
Maybe God heard my pray. A car suddenly stopped in front of me.
The car window was rolled down, and the man’s gentle voice came.
“Emma, it’s not easy to take a taxi here. Where are you going? Let me drive you there.”
I looked at the man in front of me in a daze and almost forgot to breathe.
He seemed to… He seemed to be an old friend of mine.
“Emma?”
I came to my senses, simply thanked him and got in the car.
The man told me his name was Wesley Harris and I had rescued his grandfather.
When I was having an infusion in the hospital, I saw Harper again.
Her foot was wrapped with thick gauze and she leaned against Michael.
Michael looked up at me.
I looked away as if I didn’t see them. At this moment, I just wanted to have a good rest.
The nurse exclaimed in surprise.
“Mr. Morris, are you here to pick up Emma? You have to take good care of her. Her clothes were wet when she came here. She had a fever and almost fainted. Her hand was cut by the glass. What a poor girl!”
Michael moved his lips slightly.
After a while, I felt someone sitting next to me.
When I opened my eyes, I saw Michael sitting beside me with an embarrassed look.
After a while, he asked, “Do you really have a fever?”
I nodded my head, “Yes.”
Looking at my hand wrapped with gauze, Michael was stunned. “Do you get hurt because of
my push?”
I didn’t deny it. I nodded my head again.
After a moment of silence, Michael said, “Harper has sprained her ankle and she needs to drink the nourishing soup. The restaurant food doesn’t suit her appetite. If you are fine, you can
cook it for her.”
The air was wet at night. I also felt cold all over my body.
