Chapter 6

“That really looked like Hannah.” Darren’s face suddenly turned pale.
“Ridiculous. That’s the heir of the Greene family… the Greene family…” Landon’s voice suddenly trailed off.
“It’s impossible… Hannah only has me as family.”
It wasn’t until they were seated that they saw Aaron helping me over to Zane’s side.
The smile on my face seemed to hurt them more than anything.
“Hannah Greene, do you take Zane…”
“She doesn’t!”
“Objection!”
Before the officiant could finish, two voices suddenly interrupted!
I glanced in their direction. Aaron and my parents looked furious.
Even though I hadn’t said anything, they had noticed something was off with me in recent days.
Chapter 6
After some investigation, they found out the grievances I had been carrying all these years.

They were furious, especially since their investments in Carter Enterprises had always been a way to thank them for looking after me.
But now, these two dared to cause a scene at my wedding.
“Get them out of here,” Edward said darkly to the security guards.
I smiled faintly, not letting this little interruption bother me.
The ceremony went on, and the officiant asked the question again.
“I do.” I looked at Zane, nodding firmly.
Zane smiled as he slid the ring onto my finger. The diamond was one he had personally chosen.
He’d had the ring custom–made, and it was priceless. The diamond symbolized loyalty to love.
After the ceremony, I saw Landon and Darren waiting outside.
“Hannah, why are you marrying a stranger? You promised you’d be my bride! We grew up together–how can you just walk away? Come home with me! This isn’t some joke. It’s marriage!”
“I’m Hannah’s brother! Her guardian!” Landon scowled at

Aaron.

“This is how you’re taking care of my sister? Do you even know that her right hand almost couldn’t hold a paintbrush anymore? And the designer who’s been working with Carter Enterprises… is Hannah. You almost ruined her!”
Aaron stared at Landon, his face cold with anger.
I knew he was furious now.
“Hannah, come home with us! We’ll have the wedding right now!”
Darren tried to grab my hand, but Zane stepped in between us.
“Hannah, we’ve been with you since childhood. Why are you abandoning us? All these years… was it meaningless to you?“,
After a long pause, Landon finally spoke, “If you really don’t like Xandra, I can send her away! You’re our family. She can never replace you! If you come back, we’ll give you the wedding you deserve, the one you should’ve had! Hannah, don’t throw away your happiness just because you’re upset!”
“Come home with us!” Darren grabbed my injured hand, the pain making me gasp.
Zane lost his temper for the first time, kicking Darren to the ground.
Zane pulled me into his arms.

A fresh, woodsy scent filled the air, making me feel at ease.
“Sir, please understand that Hannah is my lawful wife.”
Aaron looked at Landon, his voice icy as he spoke, stepping in front of me and shielding me.
“Hannah will always be my princess. She’s my sister, and she won’t settle for a family that doesn’t care!”

“So, you’ve been planning to leave us all along,” Darren shouted
at me.
all “You’ve abandoned the bond we shared for over ten years for vanity. Do you remember what we promised in front of Ms. Harris?”
I couldn’t help but laugh, and as I did, my eyes started to water.
Three years ago, I could’ve left them when they started their business.
But I stayed, quietly helping them build Carter Enterprises.
Back then, we’d celebrate the holidays by eating sandwiches from a vending machine, and we were happy.
When did things change?
“I haven’t forgotten. You’re the ones who’ve forgotten.”
Chapter 6
When the older kids at school used to bully me, it was Darren and Landon who beat them to a pulp.

When we got home, Lillian gave them a good talking–to, but despite that, they swore to her, “We’ll always protect Hannah.”
I carefully untied the white rose on my hand, revealing the ugly wound underneath.
“The life I chose to give up that day was my own future. You should’ve received the letter and the things I left behind. I am done with you two now.”
Aaron looked at the two of them and tossed a file–the one the butler had brought onto the ground in front of them.
“Because you took care of Hannah, I’m giving you this gift.”
“We’re leaving.”
I turned and walked away, not looking back.
