“Everything you told me was a lie! You lied when you said Elena killed my mom! Elena hiring someone to scar your face was also a lie!
“All of it was a lie! The one who really wants to steal my dad is you! It was never her!”
Kane’s voice was hoarse as he screamed, tears rolling down his cheeks without end.
At that moment, Robin walked in and saw eyes filled with dangerous.
-his dark fury.
“Constance! How dare you play us like this? Guards!” He practically growled the words from the depths of his throat.
Constance’s heart dropped into a bottomless pit. She couldn’t even care about the searing pain in her stomach anymore–she scrambled forward, dragging herself to Robin’s feet in desperation.
“No! It’s not like that! Robin, Kaney, you misunderstood–I never lied to you!
“It was Elena—she wanted to hurt me and ruin my face! I’m not pregnant, and I never wanted to compete with Ms. Evangeline!
“This isn’t blood from a miscarriage. It’s just from the fall, that’s all…”
She kept explaining frantically, her pale face barely managing a desperate smile as she clung to one last breath of hope. Even so, Robin showed not a shred of mercy.
He gave a cold order to the bodyguards, “Break her legs. And get rid of the child in her womb make it real this time.”
He would never allow anyone to threaten Evangeline’s place in his heart! The bat came down hard on Constance’s legs. The pain was so unbearable that she nearly went numb on the spot.
Her legs collapsed beneath her, but it wasn’t over yet. Another strike followed–this time hitting her squarely in the abdomen.
Her scream tore through the air like a blade.
Blood gushed even more violently between her legs almost immediately. Robin just stood there, watching coldly while shielding Kane’s eyes with his hand.
After a long while, Constance fell silent; she had fainted from the pain. Robin waved a hand indifferently, signaling the guards to take her away for treatment.
Just as he was about to leave with Kane, the boy suddenly grabbed his hand, tears streaming down his face.
‘Dad, Mom didn’t die because of Elena, did she? She really died giving birth to me,
right?
“Yes,
“Robin said quietly. “You were three days old when the Larson family brought her back… and Evangeline had been gone for three days too. She never even got to meet your mother properly. It couldn’t have been her.”
Sorrow weighed heavily in Robin’s chest as the memory came flooding back
“After Evangeline passed, I was completely devastated. I couldn’t accept it at all. If it hadn’t been for Elena helping take care of you, you might not have even survived in good health until
now.
Kane broke down completely upon hearing this. His tears poured even harder.
“Dad, Constance lied to me… She told me that Elena killed my mom. She told me to drive Elena
away.
“I did so many awful things to her… I’m sorry, Dad….
“Elena never hurt me, nor slandered me. She never bullied Constance either. The cat’s death wasn’t her fault. The dress wasn’t her fault.
“The car crash, the itching powder… none of it was her fault.”
He lowered his head in shame, almost burying it into the floor. Robin felt a buzzing in his ears as his son’s words echoed over and over in his mind.
All this time, he had thought it was Elena who had done wrong. But now he realized everything had been orchestrated by Constance by manipulating his son behind the scenes.
Even that car accident, the one that nearly scarred Constance’s face… It was more likely she had staged it herself!
A tidal wave of fury surged through Robin’s chest. He clenched his fists and forced himself to stay calm while gently comforting his son.
“The one who should really be apologizing is Constance. You just trusted the wrong person. Even if you made mistakes, it wasn’t entirely your fault.“>
“Okay.” Kane sniffled and nodded.
Meanwhile, Constance had just regained consciousness in the hospital. Her hands instinctively reached for her now–flat belly.
She grabbed the nurse in a panic while asking in a shrill and hysterical voice, “My baby! Where’s my baby?
“What happened to my baby? Did you kill my child?”
The nurse grew dizzy from being shaken so hard, and she quickly tried to explain, “Ma’am, you’d already miscarried when you were brought in.
