Chapter 19 

Willow’s eyes brimmed with sympathy, and she quietly wiped away a tear. 

“Really?” Mollie looked as if she’d been struck by a bolt of happiness. She didn’t even know what expression to make for a moment. 

Not long after, the police investigated everything based on Mollie’s testimony and confirmed the truth. The man was arrested. Elena also invested in taking over the orphanage. 

After that, Willow set up a blackboard and began teaching the children at the orphanage. Elena stood nearby, smiling softly at the scene. A deep warmth bloomed in her chest. 

The career her mother had once dreamed of but gave up because of her was finally becoming a reality. She felt like her life at that moment couldn’t possibly be any more perfect. 

Soon after, Mollie timidly took her hand and whispered, “Mom?” 

Elena smiled and picked her up, carrying her back to the guest house. She had adopted Mollie as her daughter. 

Meanwhile, Kane could barely contain his rage as he read through the report. His hands trembled, and he nearly tore the pages apart. 

“Elena is my mom! Why does that girl get to call her that?” 

Robin also frowned deeply, and he was silent for a long while. He hadn’t expected that Elena would never once look back after leaving them. It was like she didn’t think about him or Kane, 

not even once. 

Not to mention, she seemed to be living an even better life with her mother without them. S then, what had those six years of devotion meant? Didn’t she love them deeply? 

Robin’s fists clenched tightly, the pressure around him growing heavier by the second. 

“Kaney, she is your mother. Let’s bring her back, alright? 

“It’s one thing if she took over the orphanage after all, the Marsh family can easily afford that. But she shouldn’t have adopted a child.” 

As he spoke, he kept repeating to himself that he was only doing this for Kane’s sake–just to stand up for his son. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he might care for her too. Absolutely not! 

They were family, and family was meant to stay together. If mistakes had been made, they could apologize, talk it out, and fix things. 

Immediately after, Robin took Kane, packed their luggage, and boarded the earliest flight to Sutherland. 

Outside Elena’s guesthouse, several children were diligently weaving flower crowns and handing them to passing tourists. At the front of the group was Mollie, patiently teaching the other orphans while also sweetly promoting the guesthouse to visitors. 

The tourists, touched by the thoughtful and beautiful handmade flower crowns, smiled at them warmly. Many of them noted down the name and location of the guesthouse, promising to stay there next time they visited that was until Robin and Kane appeared before them. 

Mollie was startled by the imposing air around the two and hesitated. She was too nervous to step forward and offer her flowers. Kane gave a cold snort and shot her a glare filled with malice. 

“What? Everyone else gets flowers, but me? You got a problem with me or something?” 

“I don’t,” Mollie stammered in terror while handing him a flower crown. “This is for you. I hope you’ll consider staying at our guesthouse next time.” 

But just as he accepted it, Kane deliberately let it fall to the ground. Then, he even cruelly stepped on it. 

“Hmph! That’s what you get for trying to steal my mom. Elena is my mom! If I ever hear call her ‘mom‘ again, this is what will happen to you!” 

Mollie flinched as she was visibly shaken. She was just about to call someone from the guesthouse when Robin pulled Kane aside and gave a terse apology. 

“He’s just being dramatic. Don’t take it seriously 

you 

Elena stepped out before he could finish, having sensed that something was wrong. Suddenly, Kane threw himself to the ground on purpose and started sobbing loudly. 

“Mom, I’m hurt! That girl pushed me!” 

“I didn’t!” Mollie panicked as she quickly denied it. 

Elena saw through it instantly. It was all just another one of Kane’s acts. 

If it had been in the past, she might’ve gone to help him up. After all, the contract still bound. her to them. But not anymore. Now, she wouldn’t lift a finger. 

Elena gave Robin and Kane a cold, assessing look before stepping forward and protectively shielding Mollie behind her. 

“Kane, stop pretending. Your tears are fake, and I don’t believe you. Mollie would never push you for no reason. Especially not when it’s so obviously staged. 

“Robin, is this what passes for discipline in the Marsh family? Teaching a child to falsely accuse others at such a young age?” 

Her tone was detached and icy, drawing a firm line between herself and the two standing
