Sabrina’s POV
My steps stopped when I heard the little voice that I had missed so much.
“Mom!”
I turned around slowly, almost in disbelief. There, Charlie stood with his innocent face, his eyes sparkling as he stared at me. Unconsciously, my tears flowed even faster. When he started running towards me, I spread my arms wide, waiting with a heart filled with warmth that I could describe with words.
As soon as I reached his arms, Charlie immediately huggedine tightly, as if afraid that I would disappear. I returned his hug with all my heart, feeling his warm and soft little body on my chest, covering all the sadness that I had been holding in. In his arms, I felt whole again.
We both fell silent for a moment, enjoying the moment of togetherness that we had been waiting for so long. My heart was filled with gratitude and love that flowed so heavy. After being separated for so long, we were finally reunited.
From this incident, I learned that a mother’s love can never be replaced by anything in this world. Her affection surpasses everything. And I am grateful to be able to feel the warmth of love from a child who is so loved. “Mom… why don’t you ever come to see me?” he asked, his voice soft but clear, full of the desire to understand. I was shocked by his question, feeling guilty and unable to look into his pure eyes. Gently, I wiped the remaining tears on my cheeks and smiled thinly, trying to give him the peace he deserved.
“I’m sorry, honey,” I said softly. “I have to do some important things, so I can’t come to see you often. But I always miss you, and I’m so sorry if you feel alone.”
Charlie just nodded slowly, then looked at me with eyes full of love and trust. “I miss you too… I’m always waiting for you to come,” he said innocently, tightening his hug again.
I took a deep breath, trying to strengthen myself not to cry again in front of him. “Today, I will accompany you, okay? We will spend time together,” I said with a smile full of love.
His face immediately lit up hearing that, and he nodded enthusiastically. “Really, Mom? Today, you will play with me?” he asked, making sure.
“Yes, that’s right, honey,” I replied, stroking her hair lovingly. “Today, Mommy won’t be going anywhere. Mommy will spend time just for you.”
In Charlie’s arms, I found the strength that had been missing for so long. Even though all the challenges awaited me out there, in moments like this, I knew that I still had a reason to keep going.
However, that warm moment didn’t last long. Just as I felt the calmness that I missed so much, a hand suddenly pulled Charlie from my embrace.
Hazel stood in front of me, her eyes burning with anger. “What are you doing here, Sabrina?” her voice was tense, full of suspicion. “Do you think you can just kidnap Charlie like that?”
1 took a breath, holding back the overflowing emotions. “I’m not kidnapping Charlie, Hazel,” I replied firmly, trying to maintain my composure. “I came here just to pick him up. He’s my son too.”
Hazel snorted sarcastically, hugging Charlie tightly, as if I were a great threat. “Charlie is not your son! He is mine and Nicholas‘ son. I am his biological mother, and I have more rights over him.”
The words stabbed me. I felt a heat in my chest, but I stood my ground. “I may not be his biological mother, but I

am the mother who raised and cared for him all this time, Hazel,” I said in a trembling voice, trying to hold back the anger that was getting out of control. “You can’t just erase all that.”
Hazel stared at me sharply, her lips thinning.
“Everything you did for Charlie doesn’t change the fact that he’s my son. You’re just Nicholas‘ second wife, Sabrina. You’ll never be Charlie’s mother, no matter what you do.”
The words hit me hard, but I didn’t want to back down. “You left Charlie when he was little, Hazel,” I replied, my tone full of determination.
“I was the one who was always by his side, who cared for and raised him with all my heart. Charlie knows me as his mother, and I have the right to see him whenever I want”
“I won’t let you near my son again!” Hazel snapped harshly, pulling Charlie tighter into her arms. “From now on, you’ll always see him from afar. Charlie doesn’t need you.
Charlie looked at us both in confusion, his eyes darting from Hazel to me. I saw the confusion and fear on his little face, and it broke my heart. “Hazel, this isn’t about us. This is about Charlie,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm. “He needs both his parents–you and me.”
However, Hazel just smiled sarcastically.
“Don’t act like you’re doing this for Charlie, Sabrina. I know your true intentions.”
I couldn’t hold back my anger anymore. “I came because I miss my son, Hazel! And no one, not even you, can separate us. This isn’t about who has more rights but about Charlie’s happiness. You can’t monopolize his affection!”
Hazel hissed angrily, while I stood firm. I knew, here, my struggle had just begun.
Hazel pulled Charlie’s hand forcefully, making the child struggle and scream.
“No, I don’t want to go! I want to be with Mommy!” Charlie cried even louder, his little face turning red as he tried to free himself from Hazel’s tight grip.
“Charlie, don’t be like this,” Hazel’s voice sounded cold and firm. However, Charlie ignored her. He kept crying and struggling, trying to get back to me, his hands outstretched towards me.
“Mommy, please! I want to be with Mommy!”
Charlie’s increasingly heartbreaking cries made my heart feel like it was being torn apart. I couldn’t hold myself back anymore. Quickly, I tried to pull Charlie’s hand so that Hazel would let go.
“Hazel, let him go!” I shouted, unable to hold back the pain, “He wants to be with me, Hazel! Don’t force him like this.”
However, Hazel refused to let go. Her eyes flashed with anger, and she pulled Charlie even harder.
“No, Sabrina. You have no right to interfere. Charlie is my son, and I have the right to take him home!” she snapped.
Charlie became increasingly hysterical in Hazel’s strong grip. His small body cries echoed around me.

“Let me go! I want to be with Mrs. Sabrina!” His cries had now turned into groans of pain, and his small face grimaced in pain.
Seeing the expression of pain on Charlie’s face, my heart felt like it was collapsing. I couldn’t stand seeing him like this, but I knew that if I kept pulling him, it would only hurt him more. With tears streaming down my face, I

finally slowly let go of Charlie’s arm, even though my heart was rebelling against it.
