Sabrina’s POV
I held my phone tightly in my hand, wondering if I should to the place Nicholas had sent me. But what was the point? It was like it would just be another night, another night where I would become invisible to them again.
thing: I
With a heavy heart, I put my phone back in my bag. I didn’t know what would happen next, but I knew one th couldn’t go on like this. Being stuck in the role of a wife and mother with no place in this family made me question a lot of things. Somehow, I had to find the answers, because I couldn’t just sit there and hope that things would change on their own.
After struggling with doubts, I finally decided to buy something for Charlie. I wanted to show that I still thought about and loved him, even though the distance between us was increasingly felt. My steps took me to a toy store. My eyes immediately fell on the rows of robots neatly arranged on the shelves.
The robot reminded me of our little conversation a few weeks ago, Charlie enthusiastically told me his desire to have one, as if the robot could give him a world full of adventure. Without thinking, I took the transformer robot and weighed it in my hand. It felt warm, as if with this gift could be a little closer to Charlie again.
In a situation like this, I realized that sometimes small things like a toy can have great meaning in a relationship. I promised myself to continue to care for and strengthen our relationship, even though we were apart. And so that we could still have beautiful memories together, like when chose a transformer robot for Charlie.
When I was about to take the robot to the cashier, I heard the whining sound of a small child in the corner of the same shelf. The boy was holding a similar toy, but his expression looked sad. Beside him, stood a woman with a tired face who seemed to be trying to calm her child down.
“Sorry, honey, I can’t buy it now. It’s too expensive,” she said softly, patting the boy’s head.
“Mom, but I really want this robot, Mom…” the boy, who was probably around five or six years old, pouted while hugging the transformer robot with a hopeful gaze.

I was silent for a moment, watching their conversation with mixed feelings. My instincts suddenly kicked in, without thinking, I decided to buy the robot for the child too. I wanted to make him happy, just like I wanted to see Charlie smile again. Maybe, in this simple happiness, I could also feel a glimmer of happiness.
After paying for the two robots, I looked around for the little boy and his mother who had already walked away,
with them. heading out of the store. I quickened my pace, even running a little to catch

“Wait… wait a minute!” I called as I ran towards them.
Both of them stopped and turned to me with confused looks. I knelt down in front of the child, holding out my hand with the transformer robot that I had just bought for him.
“Hi boy, this is for you,” I said with a smile. “You can take it. Just think of it as a gift from a new friend.”
The boy looked at me with sparkling eyes, as if I had just given him the whole world. “Is it really for me, ma’am?” he asked in an adorable, innocent voice.
“Yes, for you,” I replied with a nod. “Oh, what’s your name?”
“Chandra!” he replied in a cheerful voice, then grabbed the robot with both hands. “Thank you, ma’am!”
His mother looked at me with tears threatening to fall. She looked very touched and a little in disbelief. “Thank you so much, I really don’t know what to say,” she said in a trembling voice.
I nodded with a small smile. “No need to thank me, I’m happy to see your son happy.”

The woman took a deep breath, then said, “Forgive me if I got a little emotional… We’ve just been through some tough times. I… I just got divorced, and this is the first day ve been able to spend time with Chandra in a long time.”
I felt a rush of emotion in my chest, fully understanding the pain she was feeling. She continued, “I wanted to make him happy today, but… my current situation means can’t give him much. It seems like the court was right when they gave my ex–husband custody. Maybe I haven’t been able to give him the best.”
I looked at her with empathy, speechless because in her words, I could feel the pain and struggle she had probably been going through for a long time.
“I really appreciate your kindness,” she said again, rubbing her son’s shoulder, looking a little embarrassed and relieved.
I smiled, even though there was sadness in my heart that was hard to express.
“I understand, no need to feel bad. Everyone has a different way of showing their affection.”
Chandra, who was still busy looking at his new robot, suddenly said, “Thank you, ma’am!” Holding the robot up high with pride, his face was so cheerful.
I nodded, relieved to have given him a little happiness. “You’re smart, Chandra,” I said softly, and he smiled even wider.
The woman said goodbye and took Chandra’s hand to leave stood, watching the two of them walking away. Seeing the simple happiness on Chandra’s face and their loving togetherness made me realize that happiness sometimes doesn’t come from big things but from sincere love.
When they disappeared from sight, I felt relieved. Even though my life is full of complications, I can still do something meaningful, no matter how small.
I continued walking to the address Nicholas gave me with a warm feeling in my heart, carrying a small story of happiness that had just happened. It might not be something big or spectacular, but being a part of someone else’s life made me feel like life still had meaning.
As I walked, I promised myself to continue to give happiness, no matter how small, to the people around me. Because in the end, happiness is not about how big or expensive something we give, but how sincere and wholehearted we give it.
And in the end, that’s what will make this life feel beautiful and meaningful. The kindness and affection we give to others are markers of true happiness that we will continue to feel in this life.
