Sabrina’s POV

With a deep breath, I resolved not to let myself sink any deeper. If not for myself, then maybe for Nicholas, who despite his strong appearance, also harbored deep worries. Wherever this path took me, I had to try to get up, at least to lessen the burden that I had been carrying for far too long

That morning, I woke up with a body that felt much heavier than usual. My body temperature was getting higher, my head was throbbing, and my throat was as dry as a desert. I felt cold sweat soaking, my body, but I forced myself to sit up in bed

I glanced at the bedside table, where the glass I had used to drink from the night before lay. I glanced at it; it was empty. The burning thirst in my throat forced me to get up

With faltering steps, I tried to stand, but my knees immediately felt weak. I braced myself, grabbing the wall to support my body. It felt like every step was a struggle, but knew I had to reach the kitchen

I pushed open the bedroom door slowly, and the cold air of the corridor touched my skin. I limped towards the kitchen, ignoring the blurry vision that was starting to make my steps unsteady. I only thought about one thing

Water

The sound of my heartbeat was beating fast as if encouraging my unsteady steps. The kitchen was getting closer, and its aroma, though faint, began to tease my nosethe smell of food that might have been left over from the night before

I decided to take a deep breath and try to calm down. Maybe by calming down, the answer would come. I had to check the situation outside and find out more about yesterday

Once I arrived in the kitchen, I reached for the glass on the table and held it with trembling hands. However, when I tried to fill the water, my vision grew darker. I felt my body lose balance

Bang

The glass slipped from my hand and fell to the floor, breaking into small pieces. My body was slammed following The g the sound of the glass breaking. I fell hard, unable to support my body anymore

Everything felt so quiet, and darkness began to envelop my consciousness. The coldness of the floor pierced my skin, but it was not enough to keep me going. I heard my own gasping breath, getting heavier, getting slower….

My last thought before everything went dark was Charlie’s face, his smile, his laughter, and his warm gaze when he called me Mommy. Tears fell, flowing slowly down my cheeks, although I was no longer conscious to realize it

I woke up from the chair in the study when a loud sound hit the silence of the house

Bang

I gasped, and my body reflexively straightened. What was that? The sound of breaking glass. My heart was immediately filled with discomfort. With quick steps, I walked out of the study towards the source of the sound

When I got to the kitchen, I froze. Sabrina. She was lying on the floor, her body still, with shards of glass scattered around her. Sabrina!I cried in panic, running to her. I fell to my knees beside her, reaching for her limp body

Her face was pale, her breathing was heavy, and her skin burned hot to my touch. I tried to shake her gently. Sabrina, wake up! Hey, don’t do this! But she didn’t respond. My panic was rising

Without thinking, I lifted her body, hugging her tightly. She felt so light, too light. I walked anxiously and rushed

to the front door. My steps were heavy, but my determination was clear: I had to take her to the hospital, and I had to do it now

On the way, my mind was in chaos. I had never seen Sabrina in a condition like this. Why didn’t she tell me she was unwell? Was I so busy that I missed these signs? My mild drifted to last night. She had a fever, but she insisted on refusing to go to the hospital. I should have forced her

Hang in there, Sabrina. Please,1 muttered unconsciously breaking the silence in the car

I glanced at her in the passenger seat, her body looking smaller in my view, Guilt crept in. I drove faster, not caring that the road was still rather quiet this morning

When I arrived at the hospital, 1 immediately went out and picked up Sabrina. The nurses immediately came over after seeing her condition

Help, she passed out. High fever,I said hurriedly, my voice shaking. They immediately took her to the emergency room, leaving me outside with my heart filled with anxiety

I stood in the hallway, my fists clenched, trying to calm my breathing. But the image of Sabrina helplessly haunted me. I rubbed my face roughly, frustration rolling over me. If something happened to her, I would never be able to forgive myself

Time seemed to slow down as I waited. I stared at the tightly closed emergency room door, hoping the doctor would come out and say everything was okay. In the silence of the hallway, I whispered to myself, like a calming

mantra

She’ll be okay. It has to be okay.”

But for some reason, behind all that, there was a fear that stuck deep inside me, a fear that I had never felt before. The emergency room door finally opened, and a doctor stepped out. I immediately stood up, my heart beating fast. The doctor’s face was serious, and I could feel the weight in every step he took as he approached me

Mr. Nicholas?he asked, making sure. I nodded quickly, anxiety enveloping every movement of my body.

How is she, Doc?I asked, my voice hoarse. It felt like something was pressing on my chest, waiting for news about Sabrina

The doctor took a deep breath before speaking. It’s a good thing you brought her here right away. Otherwise, her condition could have gotten worse, Sabrina has a high fever due to a very significant decrease in immunity, and her body is unable to fight even minor infections.”

He paused for a moment, looking at me with an unreadable gaze. We also found that her leukemia cancer is entering a more aggressive phase.”
