Sabrina’s POV
After fainting a few days ago, my condition has not improved. I feel my body getting weaker, which makes me wonder what happened because I’m not usually like this.
With a pale face, I supported my body with my hands on the sink because I wanted to vomit a few minutes ago. However, nothing came out of my mouth.
After washing my face with cold water, I came out of the bathroom and found my husband, who was already looking neat.
I approached Nicholas, who was standing in front of the mirror while putting on his watch.
“Nicholas, do you have free time today?” I asked, looking up at him.
“No, my schedule is very busy today,” Nicholas answered coldly, as usual.
I grabbed Nicholas’s black tuxedo from the edge of the bed and handed it to him with great care.
“I wanted to ask for a moment of your time to accompany me—”
Before I had time to finish my sentence, I heard a soft snort from Nicholas. He turned his body to look at me and grabbed the tuxedo his wife had brought.
“I’m busy, Sabrina. Go by yourself or ask the driver to take you. Don’t be spoiled!”
I hadn’t even had the chance to convey my purpose to my husband, but I was rejected just like that.
“Okay. Maybe some other time you can accompany me when you’re not busy,” I said in that long blue dress with my head bowed.
“Hmm,” Nicholas answered with a casual murmur. “Charlie will go with me,” he said while grabbing his car keys. “You don’t need to drop off and pick up my son today.”
‘My son.’
As if Nicholas was emphasizing that even though I have the status of Nicholas’s wife, I do not necessarily become a mother to Charlie.
For Nicholas, I am just a stranger even though we have been married for three years.
I swallowed bitterly. “Okay. Be careful,” I said, trying to be strong.
However, Nicholas did not respond; the man instead walked out of the room.
From behind him, I walked along. Down there, little Charlie was waiting in a sky-blue uniform and a white beret, along with his red bag.
“Mommy, come with me to take Charlie!” Charlie exclaimed, holding out both of his hands.
“Not today, honey.” I smiled, holding the little boy whom I considered my own son.
Nicholas turned his head and then took Charlie from my arms.
“Let’s go with Daddy, Baby Boy!” Nicholas said, smiling warmly at his sweet son.
The child pursed his lips and looked at me with a look of protest.
As everyone knows, Charlie only obeys whatever I say.
I smiled at Charlie, calming him down with just a few words. “Don’t be naughty at school, honey,” I said.
“Ready, Mommy!” The child cheered as he stretched out his two little hands to hug and kiss my cheeks lovingly.
Inevitably, Nicholas, who was holding Charlie, had to move closer to me. The man averted his gaze as if he didn’t want to be that close to his own wife.
“We’re leaving,” Nicholas said without looking at me. He immediately pulled away and walked toward the main door.
“Yes. Be careful on the road…”
My husband rushed into the car. There were no hugs and kisses like other couples generally have before their husbands leave. This made me feel lonely and neglected.
After my husband’s black car drove off, I stood frozen in place for a few seconds before I went back into the house to get ready to go to the hospital.
For several hours, I was in an examination room at a hospital. I came alone without anyone accompanying me.
Now, I walked down the corridor with weak steps and a face that radiated sadness after hearing all the doctor’s explanations about what happened to me.
“Mrs. Sabrina, the results of the medical examination revealed that you have stage two blood cancer.”
Unconsciously, my tears fell as I remembered the words the doctor said a moment ago.
“Stage two,” I whispered, my body trembling as I carried the examination results letter. “How could all this happen?”
I wiped my tears and walked out of the hospital. I rushed into the car and drove home.
My heart was restless. Unwanted by my own husband, and now I was seriously ill. How should I tell Nicholas about all this?
I smiled sadly. “Even if I tell Nicholas, it seems like he won’t care….”
Throughout the journey, I daydreamed about my fate. Suddenly, something caught my attention from inside the car that was driving slowly.
“Sir, stop the car for a moment!” I asked the driver.
The car stopped. I stared straight ahead, my expression surprised as I saw the sight of two people in a restaurant across the street.
“Nicholas?” I whispered in disbelief. “Didn’t he tell me he was busy? But… but why is he with Hazel?”
I covered my mouth in disbelief. My chest felt tight. While I was suffering from the doctor’s verdict about a malignant disease, my husband was busy with his ex-wife and child in a luxury restaurant.
Their faces looked happy, like a harmonious family. The laughter and warm smiles that Nicholas gave them—he never gave to me.
“He never even had time for me, but now he prioritizes his ex-wife…”
I couldn’t stand what I saw. I quickly turned my face away. “Sir, let’s go,” I asked the driver.
“Okay, ma’am.”
The car sped up again. The pain in my heart and the pain in my body attacked me mercilessly.
I held myself back from crying. I didn’t know what to do about my husband, and my marriage felt in vain.
