Sabrina’s POV
Seeing Charlie sitting beside my bed excitedly, his face full of smiles gave me an energy I never thought I had. I opened his favorite storybook and began reading. My voice might not be as strong as usual, but I tried to make the story sound as interesting as possible for Charlie.
The story began with the adventures of a brave little hero, and I could see Charlie’s eyes light up with enthusiasm. Every time I described an exciting moment, he became absorbed in the story, as if he were part of the world.

When I reached the part where our hero faced a great challenge, Charlie bit his lip, waiting anxiously. succeed?” he asked, his voice full of curiosity. I smiled, feeling the warmth of his excitement.
With every sentence I spoke, I felt like I was reliving a fond memory between us. When the story ended happily, I closed the book gently, and Charlie clapped his hands together, his face glowing with joy.
Charlie laughed softly as I tried to imitate the voice of one of the characters in the story. “Mommy is so funny,” he said, hugging my hand.
I smiled, my heart full. “Did you like the story, Charlie?” I asked, gently stroking his hair.
Charlie nodded enthusiastically. “Yes, I really did! Mommy has to get better soon, so we can read more!”
His words made my heart flutter. There was great hope in is little eyes, and I promised myself that I would not disappoint him.
“Mommy will get better,” I replied determinedly. “You want to help Mommy cheer up, right?”
“Of course!” he said with a big smile.
We continued our story, my voice getting carried away by the atmosphere. Seeing Charlie’s bright face made the pain in my body fade a little. It felt like all my suffering all this time, the loneliness I felt, was no longer so heavy when I had him here with me.
Charlie’s every laugh and smile was a light that lit up the dark corners of my heart. When he sat beside me, the stories we shared seemed to erase the burden I had been fighting alone. I felt as if the world was a little brighter, and hope began to grow inside me.
“Charlie, thank you for being here,” I said softly, stroking his face gently. He looked at me with loving eyes, as if he understood how much his presence meant to me.
“I’m always here for you, Mom,” he replied, his small voice bringing peace.
That moment made me realize how powerful love and togetherness are. In his warm embrace, I felt protected, as if all the pain could be masked by the joy he brought.
We continued the story, and every sentence I uttered felt lighter. With Charlie by my side, I knew that I was no longer alone. We were a team, and together, we could face anything that came our way.
When I finished reading, Charlie jumped down from his little chair and got me a glass of water. “Mommy needs to drink so he can get better,” he said like a little doctor.
I chuckled and took it. “Thank you, Doctor Charlie. You’re really smart.”
He smiled proudly as if he had just won an award. “I learned from the story we read!” he replied, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
Seeing him so caring, my heart was filled with gratitude. This little moment, when Charlie played the role of a

doctor, gave a new color to my days. “Do you have a special prescription for Mom?” I asked jokingly, wanting to see his reaction.
“Hmm… Mom needs to rest a lot and read more stories!” he answered seriously, making me laugh again.
I nodded, feeling the joy flowing between us. “Now I have the best doctor to take care of me,” I said, and Charlie smiled widely.
He sat beside me again, and we shared a quiet moment, listening only to the ticking of the clock on the wall. In his presence, my pain felt further away, and I knew that with Charlie, every day was a new adventure, even in simplicity.
My laughter stopped when the door to the room opened and Nicholas entered carrying a basket full of fruits and some snack packages. 1 looked at him in confusion. “What is that?” I asked.
Nicholas smiled slightly. “Food for snacks, I think Charlie will like it. And you also need vitamins from these fruits.”
Charlie cheered happily, immediately approaching Nicholas and checking the contents of the basket. He grabbed a bag of potato chips and ran back to my side. “Mommy, let’s eat this together, okay!”
I couldn’t resist his enthusiasm, even though I knew I shouldn’t be snacking in my current condition. “Okay,” I finally said, chuckling.
Seeing his beaming face as he opened the chips, my heart felt warm. “Just a little bit, okay?” I said, grabbing a small handful.
“Promise!” Charlie replied enthusiastically, his eyes sparkling with joy. We sat side by side, sharing the chips as we continued our light conversation.
Each bite tasted better when we were laughing and joking. Even though I knew this wasn’t the best choice for my health, the happiness radiating from Charlie made everything feel lighter.
“When Mom gets better, we can make our own chips, right?” Charlie said as if he was already planning a new adventure.
“Yeah, we can make a super delicious healthy chip recipe!” replied, imagining how much fun it would be to work together in the kitchen.
We continued eating, and in these simple moments, I felt like our togetherness was the best medicine. With Charlie by my side, I knew that no challenge was too great to face.
Nicholas sat on a chair near the bed, setting the fruit basket on the table. He didn’t say anything, just watching us with an expression that was hard to decipher. But I felt something had changed about him.
Maybe it was the deeper calmness on his face or the way he looked at Charlie and me with a stronger sense of affection. In our cheerful atmosphere, I could feel his presence providing unspoken support.
