With gratitude, I took a slice, to appreciate all the effort he had made for me. This simple moment felt meaningful, reminding me of how important it was to be there during difficult times.

“I already ate, Nicholas. I’m not that hungry,” I said weakly.
He shook his head, his eyes looking at me with conviction. “Sabrina, I know you feel nauseous and tired, but you need energy. You don’t have to eat it all at once, but try to eat a little at a time, okay?”
Seeing the determination on his face, I felt genuine encouragement. Nicholas always knew how to make me feel cared for. Slowly, I took a piece of fruit and tried to chew on it, feeling the refreshing freshness.
I paused, staring into his sincere eyes. Something about the way he spoke made me feel like he really cared. Slowly, I took a cracker and took a small bite.

“I see,” he said, smiling slightly. “See? It wasn’t that hard was it?”
I sighed, half resigned and half amused by his efforts. “You don’t have to go through all this trouble. I can eat by myself when I’m hungry.‘
“It’s not about that,” he said, leaning back in his chair. “I wanted to make sure you were taking good care of yourself. All this time… maybe I haven’t been there for your ke I should have. I don’t want to repeat that mistake.”
His words made me pause. I looked down at the cracker in my hand, then looked up at him again. There was guilt in his eyes, but also a warmth that was slowly starting to feel famillar.
“Thank you,” I finally murmured. “I know I haven’t had it easy, Nicholas. But this… this means a lot to me.”
He just nodded slightly, then took a piece of fruit from the tray and handed it to me. “Come on, eat this too.”
I couldn’t help the small smile that appeared on my face. Slowly, I took the fruit from his hand and ate it. We sat in silence, but there was no tension between us. For the first time in a long time, it felt like a small peace had. come between us.
As I began to feel more tired, Nicholas looked at me. “If you want to go to bed, I’ll bring you a blanket,” he said, standing up.
I shook my head, forcing a small smile. “I’ll just stay in my room. But thank you, Nicholas. For everything.
He helped me up gently, making sure I didn’t lose my balance. As I walked to my room, I could feel his eyes watching me, making sure I was okay. His little attention today reminded me of the love we once had–something that might still be there, if we were willing to look for it together.
As I entered my room, I felt a sense of warmth and comfort envelop me. This moment felt precious, as if a new hope was beginning to grow between us. I took a deep breath, trying to remember all the beautiful memories we had shared.
It was late at night when I finished cleaning myself and lay down on my bed. My body still felt weak from chemotherapy, but the warmth of the house made me feel more at ease. As I pulled the blanket up to my shoulders, I heard Nicholas‘ footsteps from outside the room. My heart was a little nervous, remembering his extraordinary attention today.
