With a satisfied smile, I brought the plate to the dining table and set it in front of Charlie
His face instantly lit up at the sight of the beautifully presented pancakes. He immediately reached out his hands, ready to enjoy a delicious breakfast. This moment felt perfect, filling our morning with happiness and love.
“Ta–daa! Here are the special pancakes for the Bubble King” I said cheerfully
Charlie clapped his small hands, his eyes sparkling. “Thank you, Mommy!
The joy on his face warmed my heart. He quickly grabbed his spoon and began to devour the pancakes eagerly. Each bite added to his smile, and I felt blissful watching him enjoy the breakfast I had prepared. This simple moment became one of the highlights of our day.
I sat across from him, took a small fork, and began to feed him pancakes. “How does it taste?” I asked with a wide
smile.
“Very good, Mommy!” he replied with his mouth full.
Seeing Charlie relish each bite made me feel satisfied. The sound of his laughter and excitement filled the room, creating a warm atmosphere full of love. Every one of these moments felt precious, and I was grateful to share this simple happiness with him.
As he finished eating, I wiped the corners of his mouth with a napkin. “Are you full, sweetheart?”
Charlie nodded, beaming “Really full, Mommy!”
Seeing his bright smile made my heart swell with happiness. I felt proud to have prepared a breakfast that made him happy. We both laughed, and this loving atmosphere added warmth to our morning. Today was going to be an amazing day!
I kissed his cheek and pulled him into a hug. “Mommy is so happy when Charlie is happy. I want Charlie to always smile like this.”
Charlie hugged me back, his small arms wrapping around my neck. “I’m happy too, Mommy. I love you.” Hearing his words made my heart melt with warmth. The hug was so tight, as if binding us in an unforgettable moment. We shared happiness, and I knew I would cherish these beautiful moments forever.
I tried to hold back the tears that were almost falling, wishing this moment would last forever–just me and Charlie, without any interruptions.
His presence gave me an irreplaceable strength and love. In that embrace, I felt how meaningful our relationship was and how much I wanted to protect every second of this happiness.
Charlie finished his breakfast with a cheerful face. I prepared his school uniform while joking with him occasionally. He looked very happy this morning, which made me feel more confident about my plans.
After all this, I would make sure he never thought about going back to Sabrina. I would be everything for him—a good mother, warm and perfect.
Moments like this gave me the motivation to fight harder. Look at his smile! I wanted to ensure that he knew how mych he meant to me. With every laugh and joke, I was determined to create a world filled with love and support
for him.
“Charlie, let’s put on your shoes. Mommy will help,” I said while kneeling in front of him.
I gently put his shoes on his little feet. Charlie nodded enthusiastically, then grabbed his school bag.
Seeing him so excited made me smile. Every little detail in our morning routine felt meaningful. As he stood up and got ready, I felt proud to see him growing into an independent child.
“Is the bag ready, Mommy?” he asked cheerfully.
“Yes, sweetheart. Mommy packed your favorite lunch too, I replied with a smile. I had made the lunch extra special today–star–shaped sandwiches and neatly sliced apples.
All of this was to show how much I cared for him. Seeing his face light up when he heard about his lunch made my heart flutter with joy. “Cool, Mommy! I really like it!” he exclaimed, and I felt satisfied to have done something that made him happy. Little moments like this were so meaningful, and I wanted to keep giving him my best.
As I finished tidying up Charlie’s uniform, Mrs. Rosa, my former mother–in–law, appeared from her room. Her face looked slightly disheveled, as if she had just woken up. She stopped at the doorway, observing us with a curious expression.
I sensed the tension in the air, a mix of awkwardness and curiosity. Mrs. Rosa always had a sharp gaze, and I knew she would question our situation. In an instant, I gathered my thoughts, trying to explain this situation calmly and confidently.
Charlie remained cheerful, seemingly unaware of the tension. He smiled widely, ready to head to school, while I hoped to keep the atmosphere positive in front of Mrs. Rosa.
“You look… different today, Hazel,” she said, raising an eyebrow as she stared at me. “What happened? Why have you suddenly changed like this?”
Her statement caught me off guard for a moment. I knew my appearance might reflect a change in me–more spirited and colorful. However, I didn’t want to explain everything that had happened.
Mrs. Rosa always had a way of expressing her concerns, and I didn’t want to let her doubts disrupt this beautiful moment. With a genuine smile, I tried to divert her attention, hoping to keep the atmosphere positive and not let her questions disturb our morning happiness.
I approached her with a small smile and whispered in her ear, “I have a plan, Ma. I’m going to play the role of a kind biological mother. I’ll make Charlie believe that I’m the best for him. I’ll make Sabrina look like the wicked stepmother.”
With strong determination, I planned every step to create a comfortable and loving environment. Every small detail would be attended to, from the lunch I prepared to the moments we spent together. All of this to show that I was the right choice in his life.
Mrs. Rosa was silent for a moment, her eyes narrowing as if trying to understand my intentions. Then, a slow smile appeared on her face. “That’s a good idea, Hazel,” she said softly.
She continued by giving me the support I needed. “If Charlie himself refuses to meet Sabrina, then everything will be easier. We won’t have to struggle to separate them.”
