Chapter 2
I turned off my phone and spent the next two
days hiding in my apartment.
Sarah finally dragged me out of bed.
“Get up! I landed you a role.” She threw a stack
of scripts at me.
Still half–asleep, I mumbled, “What kind of
role?”
She paused. “It’s a period drama. You’d be
playing the female character, but you have
scenes with the male lead. Work hard, Olivia.
This might be your last chance at a
comeback…”
I stared blankly at the scripts, her words
echoing in my head.
<
“Last chance…”
“I’ll take it!” I yelled, snapping awake, startling
Sarah.
“I’ll do it!” I repeated, full of newfound
determination.
I remembered the promise Jake and I had made.
back then.
We promised we’d both work hard and meet at
the top.
Even though we’d broken up, he was at the top
now. It was time for me to get my act together,
even if it’s just to prove to Sarah that she didn’t
bet on the wrong horse.
