Chapter 6
I didn’t have to film until the afternoon. But my
head throbbed.
My new assistant, Claire, made me a cup of tea
for the hangover.

After I finished my makeup, we headed to the set. Everyone was on break.
Someone was handing out afternoon coffee.
As soon as I arrived, I got offered a cup. “Hi, I’m Sophia Baker, Jake’s fiancée. Hope our Jake hasn’t bothered you guys!” A woman in a
designer dress smiled sweetly as she handed
me the coffee.
Jake watched us, his eyes cold, a cup of coffee
in his hand.
My mind went blank. I barely registered the
movement, taking the cup and murmuring a
thanks.
During the afternoon filming, I couldn’t get into
character. Before the director could lose his
temper, I excused myself to the bathroom, took
a deep breath, and managed to get back into

character.

The rest of the shoot went more smoothly.
That night, as I was about to head back to the hotel after a late shoot, someone stopped me.
“Ms. Reed, do you have a minute? Mind if we chat?” Sophia opened the door of a black SUV,
smiling.
I stared at the smiling Sophia, and after
hesitating, nodded.
Coffee shop.
Sophia had rented out the entire place. Even my
assistant wasn’t allowed inside.
After the coffee arrived, she took a slow,
elegant sip.
Neither of us said a word.

Finally, she gave me a warm smile.
“Ms. Reed, let’s not beat around the bush,” She
gave me a little smile. “I suggest you stay away
from Jake. I can’t guarantee the things in my
hands will only be mailed to your parents…”
She leaned back, smoothed her hair. “Or maybe
they’ll accidentally get sent to various
newspapers. I heard your father’s heart surgery
went really well. It would be a shame if he
needed another…”
“You wouldn’t dare!” I shot to my feet, feeling
like I’d been plunged into icy water.
So, she was behind what happened three years
ago!
“Oh, but I would,” she said with a cold laugh.
“Someone like me from uptown, wants to
smash someone like you in the world, it’s child’s
play.”

Her words left my heart and stomach with chills.
“She has the power and money, she can do whatever she wants,” I thought to myself.

I saw a vision of her hurting my family because of me, but I was too far away to stop it.
What could I do? My parents and I were just ordinary people without any social status or money. I could never even compare to her.
I sunk back into my chair, hopeless.
A wave of shame washed over me.
I felt like all the energy had been sucked right
out of me. I asked her, “What do you want me
to do?”
Three years ago, she had wanted me to break
up with Jake in exchange for the tapes. I had

been a game.
“Just like before. Stay away from Jake.” She
said, her eyes cold. “Olivia Reed, there’s nothing I won’t do to get what I want…”

Sophia dragged her words out, then smiled. “Don’t worry. As long as you stay away from Jake, those tapes will never be leaked. But if you don’t listen, your parents will suffer…”
“This is a country of law!” I stared right at her.
“You should have gone and sued me!” Sophia asked, her voice mocking. “Well, go on?”
Did I? No.
There was no way I could gamble with the
safety of my family.
Finally, I lowered my head, giving in.

“Ms. Baker, my scenes will be done in three
days. After that, I’ll stay away from Jake.
Please, don’t hurt my family.”
“Alright,” Sophia smiled.
