Chapter 8
Sophia got ten years. Her family’s company
also tanked.
When filming wrapped, Evans Industries
tweeted: “Meet our CEO, Jake Evans. He will
lead Evans Industries to new heights.”
Jake tweeted, tagging me: “Meet my future
Mrs. Evans!
The internet exploded.
But this time, I didn’t have to be afraid.
The media was supportive. Jake posted a long
explanation about our story, and everyone sent
their congratulations.
Г
Back with Jake, I didn’t have to hide.

I told Sarah to book every show, advertisement,
and TV show she could find.
Director Peterson kept his word. I was the lead
in his next show.
I spent all my time working.
My efforts paid off, and my career rebounded.
Sarah became the top manager in Hollywood. Jake invested and made her start her company.
On my birthday, I forgot everything. I got back
to my room exhausted after filming all night and walked into a sea of red roses.
The floor, the bed, everywhere was covered in
flowers and candles.
I was speechless.

I was speechless.
Jake closed the door, came up behind me,
hugged me.

and
“Happy birthday, Olivia. May I be there for every
birthday.”
I finally said, “This must have cost a fortune!”
He smiled and lightly flicked my forehead. Then
he got down on one knee and held out a ring
box, asking, “Olivia, will you marry me? What’s
mine is yours, and what’s yours is yours.”
I looked at him, remembering how we’d started
nine years ago.
Our love had stood the test of time.
Smiling, I held out my hand. “You’re mine, too.”
With watery eyes, he slid the ring on my finger

and kissed my hand. “Always.”

Meeting Jake’s parents was surreal.
The second his mom saw me, she grabbed my hands and started saying, “Thank you.”
Confused, I turned to Jake. He put his arm around me and said, “I refused to come home and take over the company. I didn’t have a girlfriend, and my mom thought I was gay.”
I started laughing.
It went well. Jake must have warned them about
me because they were all pleasant.
As we left, his mom pulled a big bag out from
under the table, shoved it at me, and said, “Just
a little something. My treat.”
I didn’t want to look in front of her. Jake took
the bag.

When I got home and took a shower, I looked in
the bag and was shocked.
It was filled with jewelry boxes. There were
twenty.
There were bracelets, necklaces, rings, and all
kinds of jewelry. The estimated price was
probably over $10 million. And on top of the
jewelry boxes was a bank card with the code,
my birthday.
I stared at the bag.
Jake came looking for me.
I turned to him. “Do you know what your mom
gave me? Jewelry! This whole bag! A credit
card!” Women like jewelry, but this was too
much.
Receiving this much was a bad look. What if the
bank card had tons of money on it?

Jake didn’t care. “If you don’t like it, I can take
you shopping tomorrow…”
Then he picked me up and carried me to our
room.
Hugging his neck, I said, “Baby, it’s jewelry, not
apples!”
Jake put me on the bed, and smiled, saying, “I
know, I know, But I’d like for you to call me
something else.”
1: “????”
Jake came home for Christmas with my family.
He had wanted to meet them earlier, but I was
working non–stop.
We mostly saw each other when he came to
- me.

There were a few times when he could only stay
for an hour.
He was taking over the company and was
incredibly busy.
