Chapter 8
He stared at me dead on. His voice hoarsely said, “Gaudentia, don’t marry him!”
I raised my eyes coldly. Why should I listen to you?”
“He…he can’t at all.”
Benedict clenched his fists and suddenly raised his volume. “Because I love you! These days, I finally figured it out, all these years I have been thinking about you!”
I was stunned. Dominic pushed him away.
“Benedict, what are you mad about? I haven’t settled accounts with you for what you did to her before and you still have the nerve to come”
Benedict’s face went white. His eyes looked at me.
His voice was determined and said, “Gaudentia, I know that those things I did before hurt your heart. I can give you all the assets under my name! Also, there is…”
Benedict staggered to his feet. He pulled out a small hammer from his pocket. Before anyone could react, he had already hit his finger hard.
“Crack-” The first finger fell softly.
“What are you doing?” I exclaimed in shock.
He turned a deaf ear and continued to smash the second and third fingers until all five fingers were twisted and deformed. Blood dripped down from his fingertips.
A painful expression appeared on his face, but he forced himself to endure the pain. “Gaudentia, I was the one who deserved to die before, causing you to break your hand. Now I’m breaking my fingers as well. Can you forgive me?”
“You are a madman.”
I turned my eyes away in disgust. When the security dragged him out, a glaring bloodstain was left on the ground.
The music started again, Dominic’s warm palm gently covered my back. “If you feel uncomfortable, let’s go home.”
I shook my head and placed my hand in his palm. “It’s okay, go on.”
The lilting music continued to play as Dominic slipped a large diamond ring onto my ring finger. I hugged him tightly. But I didn’t realise that Benedict’s

He went so far as to buy an entire floor of apartments directly across the street from our marital home. He also appeared every morning at six o’clock sharp on my morning run.
The Roussel Family’s bodyguards had already formed a conditioned reflex. They would immediately step forward and carry him away when they saw him, but he would still show up on time the next day, rain or shine.
A month later, Dominic and I went on vacation to the most famous ski resort in Val d’Isere. On the first day, we encountered Benedict, who shouldn’t be here.
He followed us from afar, maintaining a distance as if he were not there. Although Dominic’s face showed displeasure, he was considerate and thoughtfully didn’t say anything more. He just hugged me a little tighter.
Early in the morning of the third day, we took the cable car to the viewing platform. Through the glass window, I saw Charlotte and a man with a scarred face who walked with a limp looking furtively near the cable car station.
Dominic saw it too. “That’s Nathaniel Stuart.”
He said in a lowered voice, “He is the enemy I’ve been looking for for three years.”
“How did they get together?” An unsettling premonition welled up in my heart.
Suddenly, the entire snowy mountain suddenly began to tremble violently. The ground underneath my feet emitted a terrifying roar.
“Watch out!” Dominic violently swooped me down.
Amidst the loud collapsing sound, I heard Charlotte’s hysterical laughter, “Gaundetia, you’re finally going to die! Let’s see who can still save you this
time!”
Through the flying snowflakes, I saw Charlotte quickly boarding the cable car with Nathaniel on her arm. Nathaniel raised a remote control device and pressed the button with a fierce smile.
“Three years ago, I didn’t take the life of the surname Russel. Today, I want to see Dominic buried alive with my own eyes!”
At the critical moment, a figure suddenly rushed out from the side. Benedict used his entire body to block in front of us.
